I hate to say this and admit it, but most vehicles are made cheaper and corners are cut. Quality isn't always Job #1. IDC what vehicle we own and drive, something is eventually going to fail. Chevy's had their issues, Ford has, Dodge has, Subaru has and Honda has. Pick your battle. Thankfully my ST isn't my daily driver and I've already addressed most of Fords cheap parts, the FMIC is next, just because I want the constant power and reliability and not worrying about heat soaking it. I do like the German cars but god damn, repair bills are 2-3x more than these ST's, no thank you!

There are auctions and they fix the cars and sell them for alot cheaper that new, and this is a truck with like 4 miles on it and fixed by ford.

On my old Mustang GT 5.0 from the 80's I had gotten into a frontal accident and had to replace the radiator. So instead of replacing it with a stock 2-core radiator I went with a larger 3-core aftermarket radiator. Let me tell you, that temperature needle ALWAYS stayed cool after that. Even in the hot Texas and California summers which can get as hot as your Arizona summers. That was the best mod I did on that car (and I did a lot). When people upgrade their motors to make more horsepower, they often forget that more horsepower often comes with more heat. Particularly on turbocharged cars. So upgrading your cooling system is a big part of the overall picture when it comes to upgrading your car. I would definitely recommend going with a higher quality radiator if your budget allows it!

As a dealership sales manager, I can say I that many vehicles get damage during or after delivered to the dealership, if damaged before we as a dealership are required to disclose it because it will be in the invoice as well as in the records with the manufacturer, if damaged in the dealership the dealer will have a record because they paid and it will be added to the cost of the vehicle, check if the dealer have a body shop in site, if they do then I will say for sure something happened there, if not then I will not think it happened there. Remember that even if they are required to disclose it, some don’t, specially if negotiated the price hard with them, they might say screw it. Good luck 👍🏻

Hi Ben. I am sorry to hear about the incident caused by your radiator, and I hope that you get it sorted soon bud. I am actually surprised that you are still running a stock intercooler out their in that heat. Stage 2/3 Airtec like I have, or mountune amongst other brands will make a big difference. I am planning on getting a mountune clutch upgrade, and quafe differential put on my car in the near future. I have heard that it completely changes your car, and firmly plants the power, torque of the front two wheels to the ground. Looking at a suspension upgrade as well hopefully. I can't afford the big turbo at the moment, but if you get one of those the sky is the limit regards tuning.

Funny thing was I had basically the same exact experience with a 2015 GTI. When the car was fairly new, I too got a low coolant light. Filled it and didn’t think much of it. At 37,000 miles, the radiator failed and I broke down 150 miles from home. Luckily I broke down in front of an immaculate import mechanic shop who happened to specialize in Audi’s. He only charged me $550 for a new radiator. Ford seems like they are ripping you off. Also, I was suspect the car possibly had damage before I purchased it. I always thought the hood had excessive swirl marks shortly after buying it, and the dealer had the vehicle in its inventory for a long time and the car was not listed in VW inventory. Furthermore, the radiator had pushed in fins from the inside.

Hello, I own the same car. Kona Blue 2016 ST. Just rolled-over 22,000 miles. Ordered in Sept. 2015 - delivered in Jan. 2016. I spent 35 years working at a dealership body shop. Yes, it is very possible that sometime during delivery there was an "incident" or at the dealership. It happens more than people think. Most dealers don't make note of it and most salespeople are not aware of it. In 35 years I did my fair share of repairs to new vehicles with less than 10 miles on them. When a automobile manufacture is designing a vehicle remember, weight is a major factor. Weight will determine gas mileage, something they must adhere to or the vehicle will be slapped with a gas guzzler tax. So, the choice of lighter plastic parts can not be solely thought of as "cheap" Aftermarket has little concern with this (unless it is strictly for off-road, racing.)

lol i bought mine with 8 miles too in August 2016. I'm at 34,000 now and so far have had zero issues (but a busted coolant reservior cap). Was there an actual 'hole' or a crack? Sounds like an environmental hazard vs factory quality issues. Yes plastic is cheaper but doesnt mean it doesnt offer longevity.. manufacturers definitely do consider their bottom price over longevity though...within 10k miles i had the dealership replace a coolant tank cap that busted/cracked (blue one, front passenger side). They said the heat/cool cycles will just make it brittle. i was like 'okay...at 10k miles less than a year and a half, it was engineered to crack?' lol My wife just upgraded her '17 Escape base model to a '19 Escape fully loaded model (Titanium minus leather seats) and she loves it. But I'm torn between continuing to finish staging my ST to a stage 3 and calling it good (keeping the internals and major parts factory for reliability) or trainding it in before it has a major component breakdown after the 36k mark and Ford wont fix it.

More likely you picked up a rock going over the lose asphalt ... hit the fan .. blew a hole through the rad especially if the rad is getting older and soft. Happened to me a couple times. Hope you don't get rid of the ST reason I watch your channel. If you are intent on doing so maybe get a newer RS. Cheers!

Just so you know, painted plastic and painted metal wont be the same color even if you use the same exact paint

Sorry to hear about your ST. U make me scared. I bought an ST brand new because of watching ur videos. Is it caused by the tune u put on the car?
@Gjeebs5 жыл бұрын
I think it was just a random failure.

@@Gjeebs That's unfortunate. I really appreciate your great videos on the ST, hope you can keep the ST in the future. Have you ever considering a Shelby GT350 as your fun car? The supra is also an excellent upgrade for the channel, but the Golf R is just so dated, I drove it and I don't think that is a huge upgrade from the ST in terms of driving experience.
