As a parent who's children were in foster care, I was lucky. My kids were placed with an amazing family that we still have a relationship with today, 15 years later. My kids were in foster care for the longest 8 months of our lives, while I went into treatment for addiction. I'm sorry you went through so much. Your an amazing young man and deserve amazing thing.

Way to go, mom! As a former foster parent, this is exactly why so many of us did it!I love hearing about reunifications and of ongoing bonds with temporary caregivers! Such a blessing to have that support and it is so good for the kids to be able to maintain the bonds they formed with good foster parents so it wasn’t another loss experienced. It sounds like you placed your kids first after their removal and I really commend that!

It sounds like RAD, especially if he was tantruming like that at age one… then to go on and be abused and neglected further. Just awful!
@gymnasticsgirlie0647 Жыл бұрын
@@KeKe_10_84 I don't think it was RAD. RAD can't be fully cured and Alex is just the sweetest soul you've ever seen now; I honestly just don't believe that he could have made such a dramatic transformation. Plus, the way they tell the story is that all Crystal had to do was just provide reassurance to him one time that she would always love him no matter how he acted and he never had another tantrum. RAD can't be treated that fast or easily; it takes years of intensive therapy. I think it was just a classic case of a really angry kid who reacted appropriately to abuse, and then when they got into a safe environment, tested boundaries so as to make sure their foster parents didn't just throw them out at every hurdle before they allowed themself to get attached.

Alex, The bond you share with Hannah is second to none. God brought your mom and dad into your life and he did it for a reason. Your mom and dad are angels among men. There aren't many foster kids that grow up with the things that all of you kids do. Never take that for granted. Not all kids get a beautiful mansion to live in, parents that buy you anything and everything you want or need. Parents that buy cars for their kids, rent apartments for their kids, pay all of the kids bills etc. It takes a special person to do those things and Crystal and Aaron do all of those things with nothing but love. Never forget that your mom and dad rescued you from a much sadder life and never lose the appreciation you have for them. You are one amazing young man and I wish you nothing but the best.

I fully believe that healing starts by speaking about the harms done to you. I was too ashamed and embarrassed to let anyone know my past until my late 30’s, drunk one night, when every secret I held came pouring out, the floodgates had opened. At 61 I can now laugh at the absurdity of things done to me. I mean, who does that? I could relate to your sleeping on the floor and having to redo chores because I slept under my bed, and just didn’t know how to do some things. The blessing is that now we can know with certainty who we are NOT going to be like, and how we’re NOT going to treat people, and we can now see the fear or shame in others

I’m so glad you and Hannah found your forever home that is so full of love and joy! Thank you for sharing your story, Alex. I pray that someone out there who hears it will gain hope and encouragement in whatever tough situation they may be in, or maybe it inspires some parents to share their love and joy with a child who needs a loving family. Or even shed light on some parents who may not really know how to show love to their child, or have a child with needs they don’t know how to meet, and that they can reach out for help instead of continuing a dysfunctional, abusive path. We never know how our story can help and inspire others to a better life. There’s so much I’d love to say to you, as I grew up with an abusive stepdad and mom. I finally left home at 17, but for most of my childhood I just thought that was the way it was. I never felt safe to share what it was like at home, and my family was great at hiding the reality of our home life. I’m ancient now, at 49 😂, and have worked through the effects of those times. It makes my heart so full and happy hearing your story and seeing you grow over the years into the young man that you now are. You have such a sweet spirit about you, and are so loving and caring toward those around you. Be gentle with yourself, too, and don’t neglect caring for yourself as well…sometimes those of us who have been through tough stuff can forget this easily. I wish the very best for you, and for you and Savannah’s relationship and future together. Who knows, maybe someday you will find a way to use what you’ve learned to reach out to others and help them, like in a job (or maybe adoption) working with kids from similar situations. You are so good with your younger siblings, and I think you have the perfect personality and temperament to be awesome at something like that. 😊

Seeing how close you are with Crystal & Aaron, I never would have guessed how horrible you were treated before you met them. To me, Alex has always been such a huge part of what makes the crazy pieces one of my favorite channels to follow. It wouldn't be what it is without you. You truly found your missing pieces in them, just like they found theirs with you. Watching your videos & theirs for as long as I have been watching them, I know that some things are scripted, but the love that shines through all of you guys for one another is authentic. You can fake a lot of things in life to make them look how you want them to look to other people. You have to have real chemistry & true love though to make it look like your family makes it look.

However, your story really shows how true one of my favorite quotes is. I don't remember who said it, but it goes something like "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end". You have grown into such a loving and caring young man who is loved and adored by your family. Your Mum and Dad can of course be credited by loving you, showing you a caring and a happy home. However the credit has to go to you by the way you have adapted to a loving home, adapted to how you, as a young person, deserved to be treated. Now, I am even more proud of you…I am sorry you went through all that-kids don’t come with instructions, but any reasonably good parent should know that kids need to feel unconditional love-they may get momentarily angry or disappointed with a child’s behavior…but a parents love doesn’t diminish from that and it is very important that children are told and taught this….and, if possible, I love your parent even more and I am sooooo very happy for you that they rescued you from that part of your life…..you are truly your parents son and I can see the love you have for them and the love they have for you. It doesn’t matter if they adopt another 20 children…the love they have for each of their children doesn’t change…time passage doesn’t change the love….it is eternal.

You are super handsome, the best big brother, a great great son, I know your parents are beyond proud of you!! Thanks for sharing Alex, makes me sad to think of the kind of people who could punish a child in such a horrific manner. That’s the past, and while you don’t have to ever forget, for yourself you can forgive, and that’s totally up to you anyway. It’s something I recently learned in therapy, and sounds so cliche to say, but it’s so true. You can forgive and never forget, you can love someone from a far and that doesn’t mean you have to have a seat at your dinner table for them, etc. Anyway, this made me so sad and sad beyond happy at the same time. Love ya kid!! ,

That was so brave of you Alex to face your journey head on and explain why or how you got to different places and different people in your life. You really did win first prize in the case of your adoption. To have the choice between your 4th grade teacher and your eventual placing with the Petit family must have really made you feel that you belonged.

I have heard your story in bits and pieces but not from the beginning until now. Wow, you have gone trough so much in your young life Alex. I think that you have turned out to be a fine young man much in part to the love you found in your forever home. I have to admit that I got choked up when you talked about your last tantrum and what your mom said to you! Your bond with Hannah is remarkable and so is the relationships that you have with all of your other siblings. You should be proud of the person you have become!
