Looking good Simon! Excited to hear back on how the position is feeling after Best in the West 70.3. BTW, I’m the fitter who worked with Simon here. Feel free to reply with any questions for me :)

Looks pretty comfortable actually, without significant aero penalty, which is awesome! Might have a few twinges as you adjust fhose small muscles, but I think that will be a good IM position! So glad you made some critical adjustments, here's hoping you'll only need minor tweaks at the most and can settle in with confidence before your next IM. Great work, Simon!

Position looks much better. I've got similar problems, got another fit booked in for July to review the position, expensive but you never regret it, provided you have a good fitter, plenty of bad ones out there too

Yessss! Definitely worth the investment and I was recommended this fitter so that’s why I drove 3 hours from my home 🤣

Hell ya! That hip angle is gonna make a world of difference imo. Curious how your power numbers change with this new position? Hips more open may allow you to push a little harder vs getting pinched at the top?

Fit looks nice. My general take on bike fits is this: They're more of an art than a science. So, If your current fit doesn't work after allowing time to adapt, it's to be expected. The biggest culprit for the need of bike fit changes is your body undergoing physiological changes during training. That's why, in a perfect world, every athlete should consider a fit whenever something feels off or they're inexplicably losing power. Ideally, every fit should start with a biomechanical evaluation. In my experience, fits that begin on the bike just don't stick long-term. My best fits have always started on an exam table. Good luck with the new position. :)

Thanks so much!! Yes I agree. We spent about 30 minutes doing biomechanics exams before getting on the bike. I forgot to put this on the video since we were just too focused on getting the fit and body exam done 👍

Just brainstorming on other reasons that could lead to back-pain. Could it be the bike itself as it doesn’t have a down tube - therefore this geometry doesn’t allow the saddle area to effectively support the body weight. Hence the body has to over compensate Just a thought

That’s a good theory! I did have back problems on previous bikes. Like cervelo p series and the p5. So I don’t think it’s the bike. Thanks for the comment though!

Do you lose your fitness in the new position due to different pedalling styles and muscle activation?
@SimonShi
@SimonShi 19 күн бұрын
I’m not sure. It’s definitely getting used to the new position so I’m working on softener muscles. I think fitness is still there
