You know, I always think about how everyone (me included) gave Mykayla a hard time for being "cocky" or "overconfident" but the more I watch her, the more I think she's just the product of a positive coaching environment where she is sure of herself and her abilities rather than a nervous wreck who's been emotionally or physically abused so much that she's terrified to even put a toe wrong. I think we owe her an apology for the bad rep and we should give her gym a huge round of applause for the environment they've fostered.
@RitaBaumann3 жыл бұрын
I love the POSITIVE coaching. This is how all athletes should be treated. The coaching is honest, no sugarcoating of mistakes, but they also point out the good stuff. No one is name-calling or doing anything nasty. If I had a child in gymnastics, this is the tytpe of gym I would be seeking out.

He is super fantastic! My coaches in the 80s used to scream at us and tell us how horrible we were and that we were Pansies... the abuse has been so pervasive in different ways over the years. I am so glad that is finally changing: great coaches prevail; makes even better gymnasts! Oh my word how I love you all!!!!!
@KaMaJuSo3 жыл бұрын
@@kimbarleemoon3870 I started gymnastics in 2003 and ended in 2004, because my coach told me I was to fat for the bar. I was 6, of course I have baby fat. They made us run around if we laughed or had fun. Glad my mom took me out, the coach got fired short after. But also little sad that I wasn't able to do something I loved. Small village in Germany so they did not have any other Programms or clubs nearby. Since then I have struggled with body image, and only now realized I was normal skinny, even though I thought I was big. But I love where the sport is heading to, positive coaching, courages women, and a lot of empowerment.

Yes and make sure you can be there during practices and have an open and honest relationship with your kids. So they tell you when adults are being rude/not acting as they should. Same goes for teachers in a school
@Chloeyboey2173 жыл бұрын
I did gymnastics for 9 years from around 2002 to 2010 (I quit when I was 14) and my coaches would just straight up ignore me if I did something wrong, and when I got frustrated that I couldn't do a skill and cried they told me to stop having a pity party for myself and just do it. They also lined us all up in a line and told us we needed to do more core conditioning because we were so fat (I could see my abs through my leotard). Definitely not the best coaches sometimes. I'm hoping Bob's coaching is the type of coaching that is demonstrated to every single kid in that gymnasium. I'm in training to become a coach myself and I hope I can help lead kids like this coach leads Mykayla

@@Chloeyboey217 That is awesome and super inspiring Chloe! I love people that take charge and change the paradigm, it takes courage and a ton of initiative but I'm sure completely worth it! I had started down the path of being a coach myself, but then I developed some bad habits where I had to disqualify myself from doing that (smoking cigarettes which I highly regret! I have since quit.) Anyway, I think it's a lot like mentoring and being a good example for your athletes as well as constructive coaching instruction. Maybe at times you have to be their therapist because of a mental block they are experiencing and so some psychology couldn't hurt mixed with some sports medicine education. Hey, good luck sweet heart!!! 💗😍😘👏👏👏👊

Congrats on your first meet back! I love your new floor routine but you *need* to get that triple double on floor. Your moors is ICONIC but I'm afraid the judges will devalue it with your bent knees and that would kill your score. The triple double will increase your difficulty and your execution because it is a tucked skill so you don't have to worry about bent knees. Please train it again you'll do so well and you'll go so far with it! Can't wait to see the front tuck to triple at championships, just try to get that endurance up and let the train carry you through. You got this #Tokyo2021

@dennisdesormier68863 жыл бұрын
Beam is all about E-score these days, so shorter exercises often score better. A shorter routine might also help with the big dismount (which looks great here). I really think you could rock the following: mount (D) flip-flop full (B + F + 0.2) side aerial + split + straddle (D + B + B + 0.2) simple full spin with choreography done in relevé before and after Side straddle half (D) Sideways jump full (D) sideways choreo (I worry some judges will say you don't have enough as of now) to set up: BHS swing down, do a little choreo low to the beam and rest up before the big dismount roundoff full in (B + G + 0.2) D-score: 5.9 or 6.1 depending on the side jump connection E-score: You really could get mid 8s for this shorter exercise! Total score: Mid-14s. It does cut out the switch leap + switch half + back tuck and the spin sequence, but those are all going to get hit hard with E-score deductions, if we're being honest. They are just tough passages to do well. But I don't think you need them with all the other content!
@Reiswaffel943 жыл бұрын
I'd say you're right in some points. Hitting a high D-Score isn't enough nowadays. Personally I would say that right now she won't get credit for full to BHS swing down due to leg/hip extensions after the full. Similar thing in the Side straddle half to side jump full connection. I'd say right now she is doing an extra armswing, but shouldn't be too hard to fix. Beside those D Score issues I think some judges might hit her hard on the switch half and maybe even more on the illusion. It's gonna be interesting to see the actual routine and scoring at Classics and Championships.
