This video was the cornerstone for me nearly 6 years ago. I’m so grateful to be alive and to experience all the immense and beautiful change in my life since. It’s absolutely not easy, but our time is now and it’s short. Alice is so right “enough is enough and YOU are enough”. Love you Alice Denny. I thank you often ❤️ As you know my dear.

Once again I have failed to keep up with KZbin and Tumblr and have to apologise for not responding to messages. TBH I find it really hard to cope with IT and both KZbin and Tumblr refuse to accept new things I have tried to add ( files too big or something) and Ive spent many frustrating hours on the point of throwing my lap top at the window. Sheer incompetence on my part. I really d appreciate the kind essays people send via various routes. Since Lucky Tooth made this film it has been used in Film Festivals and in training workshops and Both Fox and lewis have been involved in some quite amazing work.( they both and Sharon have since become wonderful friends) Since the film was made ( Only 3 years ago!) I have been increasingly involved in performing my poems as opposed to just writing and discarding them. Tonight for example I will be involved with the 'Polari" World Of Words show in Worthing ( Part of the inaugural Worthing Pride) which is such a thrill and honour. It would be great if I could post some more recent performances here- all I can say is I will try. But ( I know , don't begin a sentence with a preposition ;-) ) THANK YOU everyone who has sent kind messages/comments here and elsewhere. We all need a little affirmation and me more than most perhaps. I am just so grateful to be here today and hope everyone of you ( even my secretive troll) has a life full of love, joy and kindness to to others. Mwaaaaah. Alice 31/5/16

Dear Alice. It's been months since this blew my socks off for the first time, but I keep coming back again and again and again... You move me so much, the softness of your voice, the honesty and sadness and joy in your eyes, in your smile. And the love towards yourself and towards life that one can feel just listening to you telling your own story. Your poem has made me shiver and smile and cry and gasp for air. It makes me wish I could meet you one day and tell you just how freaking beautiful I think you are. Knowing that we'll probably never meet, I tell you here. Sincerely, Léa.

lagrenounouille Dear Lea, sort not to have replied earlier, I don't always see these messages. Your words moved me and gee me the sort of belief that I think we all need. I don't know where you are but yes, wouldn't it be good to meet one day and chat about..life? it's the middle of the night, I have insomnia and amidst editing some poems saw your message somehow and so pleased I did.Thank you so much. xxx Alice

Hey Alice ! I just stumbled over this video because of a tumblr-post. I rarely comment on youtube, but I really wanted to tell you, that you have a strong impact on people. I am a mid-thirty working mom from germany with no personal experience with anyone LGBT-related.But I recognize a kind heart, a strong and earnest personality and real beauty, when I see them. It only takes these 8 minutes to see, that you are an amazing woman, and I wish you all the best !!!

@Rel136911 жыл бұрын
I said it takes the understanding (better word - awareness) of the fact that we actually choose our responses and actions, as most people do not realise they have that ability and so don't make conscious choices. We see the world through our own experiences, not of others. We all have our "victimness" to deal with and until it is understood that we create our own world that wont change. Ultimately we both support what Lewis and Fox are doing and think Alice is a wonderful and courageous person.

The hardest thing is to stand in front of n audience and recite words, hearing my own voice booming in the mic but they are words I need to say, so no way around it. Hi Sherri, I have just seen your sweet message as I don't check KZbin too often. I was very touched to discover that people like my poetry and get something from my words. The film ( which I think was beautifully shot) has been quite popular, featured in some festivals and is up for an award at the moment. I'm really pleased for the guys in the film company as they are so talented and beginning to get recognition they deserve. I've been doing quite a lot of poetry recital rather than keeping them to myself. Thats's pretty new to me but I enjoy doing them more and more. Sometimes your life just feels so RIGHT. There are a few exciting things coming up I think; when I'm more sure, Ill try to remember to post them here. I tend to use Facebook a lot so you can catch me there if you like and it would be nice to keep in touch. Thank you again Sherri and to everyone else who has said such sweet things who I might have missed. xxx Alice

Dear everyone who has commented so warmly, just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU. I have never, ever felt so humbled and uplifted than by all you lovely people. Transition is always 'A work in progress" Being a woman-or man is always "a work in progress" Nobody is a "finished article' at least I don't believe so and whilst some of my "deficiencies" are clear and cause me pain, what woman does not experience that on occasion at least? Some things I can't change, I'll do my best.

My comment re. stereotyping is in reference to the voice comments - some women have deep voices, it's not just men. The inarguable fact is, that many people may not have the ability OR strength to 'choose' whether they find something 'offensive' or not. I DO agree with you re. your last sentence but again, you just cannot assume that of everyone! Unless you know someone personally then don't get personal! As ALICE HERSELF has replied to someone previously -"if only you knew" - exactly my point!
@Rel136911 жыл бұрын
Of course there is the fact that often it is the intention to offend by the person making the statement. And I don't see that it takes ability or strength to choose, it takes the understanding that it is "your choice" to do whatever it is you want too. Be offended or not, be offensive or not, it is also yours to take whatever consequences come from those choices. No one will ever understand or know experiences of others, we can only use our own. Seeking out others gives us awareness.
