Good lesson. Have you had your guitar setup so it makes it easer to play barre cords?
@LaurenBateman4 жыл бұрын
You can do that. The closer the strings to the fretboard the easier to play. I use light strings on my acoustic. Barre chords are always easier to play on electric.

I've always used the notations and come into the chords and you can play the riff into the c and f and I wrap my thumb top first fret but a lot of people can and can't. I like a narrow neck for that reason or if I need to stretch frets. I don't know why people dread the F maj because it's not that bad on a good or set up guitar and once you learn it just like B maj when you move it you have another set of chords. And most barre chords come from the F shape. I always encourage learn B and F and when you do doors will open.

Absolutely, I do too, but only when the student is ready. I've had so many students who came from Berklee teachers in the area that gave up on guitar because the teacher started them with barre chords. It's very frustrating for a beginner to even attempt a barre chord. So we steer clear of them until the student is having some serious fun with their instrument.

@@LaurenBateman sounds like you have your heart and mind in the right place. Im not good with words but so many people give up because of barres and they're over 5000 chords and no one knows all of them and will never use them. I use to start people out with this is the parts of the guitar and try to teach two to three chords that go together and once they have two or more and I get the stiff strumming broke and build a rythm I teach a easy song and try to teach something they like show a easy riff kinda keep them interested and happy. I just hate when the time comes that you have to tell them do you want to learn or just learn songs because if they get that far they're robing themselves taking the easy way because they are able and ready to start improvising and self learn as well as challenge themselves. Make sense? Me I'm just in a depression I don't want to do anything. Lost a lot ànd people who I loved and it's hard to find energy and joy with anything.

@@LaurenBateman It appears that you have it down and under control. Simple easy at first and build. Time tested and approved. Congratulations and thank you for keeping guitar alive and fun for all. Great personality and method and you care. Seems a lot more people play now than in the 70s and 80s and a lot of internet warriors who think they are doing something but can't explain it lol but a lot of impressive people and the younger kids OMG some are amazing.
