I just love when a POS throws out the, "I never would've cheated if you'd been a better partner!" line. Well, genius, if that's such a big problem, then you either talk it out or break up, not give handouts behind their back.

It's more like the daughter was ashamed or embarrassed. I have no doubt the daughter KNEW what they were going to find when they went to the apartment as that scenario has probably played out several times before. I'm starting to wish I hadn't just eaten lunch before that story. Ooh, just picturing it is ridiculous. And how did nobody in the family notice that a whole wedding buffet was in the freezer for 8 months and start picking at it? Still, the fact that she did that was a tasteless move... more sad and tasteless than all those dishes likely were. She's giving me the vibes of the AITA mom whose own daughter got sick so often at home because they'd leave food in the car for days or on the counter constantly, never at the right temperature. The daughter's gastro issues stopped once she moved out and handled her own food. But the mom now wants her grandkids to come over and she can cook for them, and insists the daughter's issues were all in her head and that there's nothing wrong with her food. Mom said "hells no" & asked Reddit about it. The "ick" factor from the commenters was about like it is here.

The wedding story: friend's wedding she did a pick your own toppings/sauce/dough type personal pizza cooked right in front of you. They had friends/family members who had dietary restrictions. There were pasta salads and green salad as well. We spend the weeks leading up to the wedding making what was essentially giant bibs out of beach towels (we made 205 of them!).They also did an ice cream/frozen yogurt/sherbet station with 3 different kinds of cake there. They had a small ice cream cake to cut. The moms with kids loved it, both sets of grandparents thought it was wonderful, and most of the guests appreciated the fact that everyone got something they enjoyed eating, made right in front of the so they knew exactly what was in it. There was a sister in law or cousin who thought it was tacky but I heard most of the family didn't enjoy her wedding because it was "stuffy, pretentious, over done, too formal, and the food sucked"

For the last story I wonder if OP’s wedding was held at a banquet hall or someplace private because I’m surprised their Mom was even able to get ahold of those leftovers to begin with. The caterers at our wedding cleared the buffet away - and took the leftovers away with them! We were not best pleased: kosher food is NOT cheap, and my dad had invited family round to the family house the following day for lunch before everyone went home. Do not eat at your mom’s house, do not let her watch your children even if it’s in your home. We visit our paternal grandparents about twice a month. They lived an hour away. When they got old mom would tell us on the way up, “Remember, if grandma asks if you’re hungry, to tell her we’ve eaten.” Cutting mold off hard cheese is one thing... scraping mold out of strawberry jelly is entirely different. Usually one set of siblings would take grandparents out for lunch & another set would clean out their fridge. & (I think) replace the jelly they’d tossed lol.

My heart is breaking for OP in story 1. This is what cheaters don't realize they steal from their partners. They steal their sense of trust, of self-worth. It makes them feel unlovable. State law did not permit it for food safety reasons, because of there being a limit to how long food can be out on a buffet.

S1) Cheating is the first thing that comes to mind. Being distance. Being invasive. A sudden change of plans. Having indirect eye contact. Lying about whose she with and where. "If you cared you wouldn't of cheated" Would be my only response. So glad OP got rid of this sorry excuse of a woman. Therapy, friends and healthy outlets for you OP. S2) What OP's mom did is potentially dangerous and had a huge liability attached to it that the sister would of had to foot the bill for if anyone ate that food. As someone who worked in the food industry I instantly felt disgusted at what I heard. Op saved her sister who knows how much in hospital bills. To the family members saying think of how she treated her mom make sure the get they axe along with her.

For twenty-five years post divorce, he would randomly tell us the divorce was my mother’s fault, because if she truly loved him, she would have forgiven the cheating. I wanted to add to the point made about how it's dangerous for food to be out between 42 and 139 that most people don't think of is that the clock doesn't start over after taking it out of the freezer. For a very over simplified example: you can leave a dish out for an hour before it is unsafe to eat and you freeze it after 55 minutes you will only have 5 minutes before it's unsafe.

Meaning I’m good in social situations, but after a while I need to recharge my social battery, and on those days I don’t want to be around anyone. My ex-BF NEVER understood that. He swore I was cheating on him whenever I wanted to hermit out. He would show up at my house for the gotcha moment only to find me in a face mask, with a glass of wine and a book. This ended up happening so often that I finally got sick of it and bounced.

Last story: 🤣🤣🤣 that sounds like my mom. My mother does not understand food safety AT ALL. When my son was younger she took food that he didn’t finish at lunch time and put it in her purse so that he could finish it later. I was like “NO.” She was mad that I “wasn’t going to make him finish his food.” I was astonished. How can someone not understand that taking cheese and lunch meat and letting it sit in your purse for hours in the summer heat then forcing someone to eat it is bad? That was the last time that I let her have any control over my son’s meals. It’s been 4 years and she still doesn’t get it.
