With training she could have some serious racing chops. She quickly began to see the ideal line, and using it when ever there is no traffic. She has the insight, and the confidence, yet she also has the common sense and she's vigilant. I've seen plenty people who simply don't have it - the lack the brain power. You struck gold, my friend - never let her go. You can see the pride on her face as she grows more and more confident.

I love how as the lap went on, you could see the confidence coming out. Someone who goes on wanting to be safe and get the fundamentals, and then picks up the pace as she gets more confident. Also love how Misha went from being the worried passenger, to praising her for clipping apexes in the right place.. Looking forward to more Megi and Misha adventures

WOW! Misha, your manners with each other are exemplary. My wife does all the driving for us now, after I had a stroke and lost much of my sight . We're both elderly, yet we have a well-fettled Volvo V70 T5 with manual transmission which is great for bombing Toronto down to Nashville and other points south. BUT I am a no longer the driver. I am the most horrible right-seat reactionary. I need to learn patience and how to not freak out. I need to learn the trust you two have in each other. I have ridden motorbikes since the '60s and driven long hauls on bikes, in cars, and moving vans since the beginning of the '70s, There is one province, two territories and 4 states I haven't driven or ridden through. Yet my confidence and experience are now meaningless unless I can pass them on to Claire. That's a tough let: I get frustrated with her not driving as I used to, especially in the busy traffic of Toronto. She's great on the highway and there I can relax and read to her. Claire used to do hundreds of thousands of road miles each year as a Bluegrass band leader. She always had one of her band guys did the driving. Now she drives me and I complain. Courtesy of you and Megi (is it?), I now have a new relationship model on how to sit right seat and encourage rather than shriek in fear. Thanks to you two, you are great together. Exemplary. If Hollywood doesn't come knocking, I know people who know people... meanwhile, I reckon it's time for us to find an elders' track event where Claire can take our Volvo onto a track, as you two did here, and get instruction on how to improve our skills and confidence in either seat.

If I may suggest, just drive a speed you are comfortable with and increase from there. There’s no reason to be scared. If you are uncomfortable, then you are pushing beyond your current experience level. Just slow down a little and give yourself more time to get comfortable. It will come.

People often get too caught up in lap time and can forget to enjoy the car & experience. Misha said it great enjoy the car & the lap. EV’s maybe a great car to teach people. Megi you did just great, you both had a lot of fun and it was just the right level of coaching and knowing when to just let her get on with it. She was so good at her situational awareness, checking her mirrors loads, well done Megi! She also did a great job of keeping to the right of the track when she had to and that in itself can be quite tricky as you haven't got the luxury of the whole track to play with. She did a great job, just like you said - to see her handle the traffic and be fully aware at all times is a lot more than can be said with a lot of drivers. And that goes even for the public roads, let alone a racetrack. You could see her confidence grow but instead of getting carried away with her technique she remained vigilant of the action around at all times. Really great job. I think also there is an extra level of pressure for her too, even though there is a level of comfort with it being Misha in the car with her, I think that can also make someone want to make sure they are performing up to expectations of their partner. Clearly though there is a lot of trust between you two. Hope she can enjoy some more laps in the future, thanks for sharing.

I've completed multiple professional driving schools, raced more than a handful of times in Spec Miatas, and I can say one of the most productive learning experiences I had was during a HPDE track day, when I sat passenger as the car owner tore around the track in the car I was renting. I just watched and learned where he shifted, braking points, etc. Very VERY helpful for the next session where I was in the driver's seat again.
