The last question you ever ask a victim is why didn't they leave. Do you know how convinced they've become that they deserve that treatment or that they did aomwthing to cause it? That shame keeps them silent so often. I'm so glad this man did get free and that he is safe now and either knows his own worth or is continuing to learn that as he heals.

If you've never experienced abuse first hand, know someone that has experienced it or let alone seen a documentary about the 'abuser process' you could be forgiven about being confused and ignorant about the subject because on face-value it just seems preposterous why someone wouldn't leave an abuser that is doing mental and/or physical harm.

There is something called trauma bonding you can watch baby reindeer tv serie to see how it creates a circle of getting abused until you realize. Some people keep getting abused with different people until they realize the trauma they have. I've been with 3 psychopath until i realize what is going on and there is a pattern and no it's not my fault i got abused when i was younger. I don't this guys history but they sure know how to select their targets...

I have watched the documentary. Before shifting together, she threatened him to choose between his children and family. He chose his children . Once they started living together, she started to cut off all his contacts and shifted to a new town. His parents, friends and a few other relatives tried to contact him on facebook and she replied back that he does not want to talk with them. His aunt also found where he is living and went to meet him but he did not respond and asked them to leave him alone.

Honestly these abusers are monsters. They come across as charming but are slowly breaking you down. My brother was so verbally abusive to me that he convinced me that i was worthless and a loser. Guess what? I did everything to win his approval. I tried to dress like him, listened to the same music etc. My heart goes out to this man. I hope he can heal and move on.

People who abuse in this way are usually very intelligent and they use specific techniques to target and manipulate people into becoming very isolated. It’s easy to say what you would and wouldn’t do in a situation however until you’ve Experienced it you don’t understand what it’s like. He doesn’t need to man up he needs to be loved and protected. Just like a woman would. Abuse has no gender it can happen to anyone who falls prey to that situation. In fact alot of the reason why male victims don’t speak up is because they are judged and made to feel like they need to ‘man up’ this is what leads to them ending their own lives eventually. Let’s be open and educated when talking about this because again u don’t know how you would react until it directly affects you or someone you care about.

As an abuse survivor, abuse is abuse. Idc what your gender is. And what this man went through was nothing short of torture. Absolutely horrific. And he endured most of what he went through for the sake of his daughter and thinking him accepting this abuse was the only way to protect his child. And that breaks my heart. I’m happy he’s able to share his story and him and his daughter are able to move forward in life away from this horrible woman. We need to take abuse of men much more seriously.

The reason why he didn't say is because most won't be believed that thay were abuse by their wife or girlfriend, on top of that, woman will lie and say they're being abused and get away with it, another reason some men that got abused by women gets laughed at, by women, that what he was probably afraid of, not being believed, not given a chance to tell his side of the story

He could have rscaped. ..... but he did not......I brlieve that he must have suffered other type of traumas as well early on in his life! I would like to know his full life story. Why did he become the victim of a monster? I feel so sorry for him and I am glad he survived. The fact that his torturer was released after 3 and a half years is outragous.
