Your girlfriend should know characters will start to permanently die in the MCU, the criticism of characters not staying dead was a thing pointed out by a lot of people in the beginning of the MCU, & I think Marvel accommodated for that in later movies (I Won't Spoil Who Dies Though). Also I agreed with your girlfriend in the beginning about Captain America getting on Black Widows ass a bit too much about keeping secrets, although this is still one of my favorite MCU films.

Interesting fact about the music in this movie: The soundtrack of the Winter Soldier is actually a call back to the first movie. It is Bucky’s scream from when he’s falling off the train, except they stretched and slowed it out veryyy long to symbolize the agony and pain Bucky’s mind has been going through all that time Then to make it even more eerie, the director of the movie recorded a scream of his own and intermeshed it with Bucky’s stretched out scream to make it scarer

I remember back in the late 60s or early 70s, Marvel published a satirical special issue - I think it was "The Mighty Marvel Achievement Awards" or something like that, and Bucky got an award for staying dead and avoiding the comic book cliche of popular characters who died miraculously coming back to life. I really like Bucky and think he's gone through some of the best character development, so I'm glad he was eventually brought back, but I understand where they were coming from.

Not telling the Mission Lead (Cap) that one of HIS assets/team members is on a different mission is a HUGE no no in ANY military or espionage endeavor. It was no secret to those who read the comics that BUcky was going to return, since the reveal is in the title, but our excitement was in seeing every non-comic MCU fan react to him being alive in the first place, so we jsut kinda smiled when the reveal happened and we go "Yep!" BUcky never died, he got captured and brainwashed by HYDRA! There are people who still get the biggest jaw drop from the reveal that Steve had been battling and chasing his best friend the entire time! I still get a kick out of people when the mask gets ripped off, and there like "Wait, who is that? Steve looks heartbroken, why would he--?" And then Steve goes "Bucky?!" I remember being int he theater on opening night, and a whole bunch of people just audibly gasped at seeing Bucky because they had seen the First Avegner movie before it, and I was so giddy with delight! Moments like those make us so happy as Marvel fans! Plus yeah the movie was a Clancy novel/spy thriller/James Bond political espionage vibe, which i loved!
