This is not a dig, but I believe the reason you love Doctor Strange so much is... You are a "Cap" Guy (absolutely nothing wrong with that, Cap this Chris Evans version of Cap is my Cap. I did not care for the comic book version... too speechy and he was always reigning in Wolverine... hahaha, Chris Evans version of the Cap, makes it my fault for not getting it Doctor Strange is your version of how people feel about Tony Stark.... he has that edge, Doctor Strange is just as arrogant, but he got everything taking from him, while Tony tends to just throw stuff away. You love this movie for the exact same reason, that people love Tony Stark. that is what is so beautiful about this experience (as opposed to the DCEU or sorry to say this "Matt is right" Star Wars), it is all connected... you don't have to explain why you saw this 4 times, all you have to say to an Iron Man stan is... "how you feel about Tony, is how I felt about Strange in this film". They will get it. It is also why so many Tony Stark fans, love Black Panther so much... because T'Challa is just as noble as Cap, but with cynicism and a more grounded realistic view. Slight Spoiler as in context towards possible clever add ons: I am calling him Cap, because this is earlier in my timeline and I do not wish to engage a spoiler train of people being clever...

One of the reasons I love this film so much is because of Doctor Strange's arc of learning that failure is okay. The Ancient One told him that while his fear of failure made him such a good doctor, it's also what kept him from fully reaching his potential. Stephen throughout the film is obsessed with his own failings, not being able to imagine adjusting to a life brought on by his own mistakes, and instead relentlessly trying to take back his old life. In his opening scene when he invites Christine to his speaking engagement, she says "Everything's about you". Throughout his life, Stephen has been surrounded by people that have done nothing but remind him how important he is with everything centred around him, and it's not until the Ancient One tells Stephen "It's not about you" that the camera spins around Stephen to show that he has found a new perspective. To overcome his fear of failure, it's so perfect that he has to defeat Dormammu by losing to him countless times. In the final scene he puts his watch back on, still broken representing his broken self, and while he could get his watch fixed he instead keeps it broken to remind himself to live with his past mistakes and grow from them instead of trying to undo them. Sorry if I rattled on a bit here. This film just really spoke to me and I think it's one of the more underrated MCU films.

Im pretty sure the guy with the crushed spine wasn't Rhodey. It was that that guy in the Hammer Armor from Ironman 2 that got twisted around 180 degrees. Strange was learning magic for a few years. Also he was on the list of people to kill in Winter Soldier.

Might be wrong about this, but when his colleague on the phone tells him about an airforce colonel who crushed his lower spine in experimental armour, I think they're referring to the video from the Hammer industries in IronMan2 that Tony plays to embarrass Justin Hammer in the court scene.

It just hit the right notes as a movie for me, especially since I was a fan of Doctor Strange before the film.
