When Miles walks into class where he first meets Gwen, he says “Einstein said time was relative, right? Maybe I'm not late. Maybe you guys are early.” Gwen laughs, because she's early, as the collider incident hasn't happened yet. The thing about multiverse theory is that time is relative - all things are happening simultaneously. It's best to disregard the concept of time when watching anything to do with the multiverse. We also don't know when Spider-Ham, Penny Parker, or Noir Spider-Man showed up, as they were already at Aunt May's when Gwen, Miles and Peter B arrive. It's possible that they were all thrown into the past, with the exception of Peter B.

To be fair, I think that Gwen was only there as implication that Fisk had been testing and messing with the collider way before the arrival of Peter B. Parker. Hence why the original Peter Parker had a goober to dismantle it, which was probably because Fisk had been messing with the machine for awhile and probably causing Gwen to get there earlier than the others

Each Spider-Person (gonna be pretty lengthy, so apologies): - Miles Morales/Spider-Man: In 2011 (yup, Miles is now 10 since August 2021) in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, in that universe, the Peter, the Ultimate Spider-Man we followed died, and Miles becomes Spider-Man afterwards. At the start, people used to HATE him... but over the years, the comics, cartoon, game appearances really made him beloved, to even after the Ultimate comics line ended, Marvel brought him over to the main comics, where he's been there ever since. (Unique to the movie, both of Miles's parents are alive, which in cartoons, games, and the Ultimate line, either his mother, father, or uncle always die.) (Big fact, Donald Glover wanted to be Spider-Man in the TASM reboot, it never happened, but Brian Michael Bendis was partially sparked by this, to make Miles. A few years later, Donald would voice him a bit in Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man Disney XD cartoon, jump another few years, would play Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming... the journey!) - Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider: (They explain in the movie that she was pulled through time as well, as different universe) Gwen famously dies in most universes, but in the 2014 Spider-Man event "Spider-Verse" (Which inspired the movie), we meet a Gwen who was bitten, and becomes "Spider-Woman" (but her publishing moniker/nickname was "Spider-Gwen"). She instantly became a massive hit, with her own comic runs, and like Miles, appeared in many cartoons and games, she became so popular, that she'd eventually get the new permanent name "Ghost-Spider", and now hangs out in the main comic universe with Miles occasionally. Also here, she's voiced by Haliee Steinfeld ( Kate Bishop in Hawkeye). - Spider-Man Noir: Peter from a universe in which the marvel universe was set in a 20's and 30's style universe. The comics version wears a tactical version of the costume you see in the movie, but uses a gun. Here, thanks to Nic Cage, gives him extra life to the role. - Peni Parker: Created by Gerard Way (The co-founder and lead singer of My Chemical Romance, and the creator of the comic, and now popular Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy), Peni also appeared in the Spider-Verse comic, and is a genius Japanese school girl who controls a giant mech unit "SP//dr", and which is powered by a radioactive spider that she has a link with. It's very anime, like Neon Genesis Evangelion/Gundum, which the movie really puts detail into - Spider-Ham: Peter Porker is from a anthropomorphic cartoon world, where talking animals look like Looney Tunes characters. He's been around for awhile, and when unaware to comics people hear about them... they act just like Jen here, because my mom did too, and with Alligator Loki lol - Spider-Man 2099: Miguel O'Hara is from the late 90's imprint called "Marvel 2099". It was the mid to late 90's, and this was the coolest thing to get hyped for at the time (they all weren't that good... but Spider-Man was the most popular). Miguel gets spliced with Spider DNA, and fights future threats like the megacorp Alchemex.

The background remains at a constant 24 fps. FPS = Frames per second for the non animation buffs out there. In addition to that, the frame rates are out of sync at the beginning of the scene, when he and Peter are trying to work together in the forest, but this gradually improves as Miles learns; at the end he and Peter B are _literally_ in sync. This is on purpose-to show his progression as a SpiderPerson. This movie is why I adore animation as a medium. AND NO it's NOT A GENRE-animation is MOVING. ART. It is NOT A GENRE. Period.

My theory; "The quantum super collider tore the hole in time, as well as space, so not only did Gwen get thrown into Mile's universe a few weeks into the past, but the other spidey versions did as well. They just instinctively (intuitively)were drawn to Aunt May more strongly..and sooner, than P.B.P, and Gwen were. Who also were drawn to that universe's (now only) Spidey by a similar instinct. Like lost/misplaced animals seeking shelter in a familiar environment. *Basically, they were probably ALL drawn in and tossed back to that same point in the past, with their varied/unique personalities guiding their actions from that moment on."*

They didn't all come at once... they all came at different times with Gwen arriving a week earlier. They all showed up at Aunt May's over time and that became their base over time. They all arrived at different times because the experiments on the Collider was done a few times and was breaking the time-space continuum worse every time. Doc Ock and Kingpin talked about trying to get the Collider working to bring back his family and they had a map on one scene showing the different universes they had previously opened a portal to, but every time they worked on it, a spider-person got pulled over. They were connecting to multiple universes to find one where Vanessa and Kingpin's kid survived and kept finding them dying in various ways.

Think you need to watch it again bud. They all got pulled in at the same time because Pete's head was shoved into the beam. They just ended up at different times. For me it was the Koca-Soda sign in Peter Parkers intro. Peter B Parker has a Coca-Cola sign. Its at the 1:30 mark so very easy to miss. The PDNY was good because it stayed long enough to not be missed.

Also, a nice little tidbit of trivia. During the first 3/4 of the movie, the producers intentionally animated Miles with 12 frames per second (as opposed to 24 frames per second for all the other spider people), to make him seem more choppy and not quite as proficient as the other spiders. But during the leap of faith scene, they slowly starting adding in more frames every few seconds. By the end of the song, Miles was up to being animated with a full 24 frames per second to visualize how he’s now on par with all the other spiders.

So 2 things: 1. All the different Spider folks were pulled into Miles' universe at the same time. If you go to the moment when the collider explodes and all of NY has that blank out and when the shot pulls back to reveal the NY skyline as it fragments to all the different universes, if you freeze the frame and slow-play it, you'll see the Spider-folks "erupt" out and get scattered. The scattering into Miles' universe scattered them at different times within Miles' universe. Peter B. Parker appeared the night-of, Gwen appeared a couple of weeks back, the rest at various points as they were already at Spidey HQ by the time B., Miles, and Gwen head to Aunt May's. 2. It is heavily implied that Peter B. Parker/Jake Johnson is supposed to be "our" universe Peter Parker [at least according to the Raimi-trilogy], likely a grown-up version of Tobey's Peter Parker. This is evident because Chris-Pine-Parker that originates in Miles' universe shows alternate version of products during his intro, i.e. Kola-Soda instead of Coca-Cola. Also his version of Raimi-triology unfolds differently, especially when Spider-Man punches the car that Doc Ock throws at the restaurant instead of diving at MJ. But then when Peter B. Parker does his intro, the product placement is Coca-Cola. Also some people thought that the "B." meant that it was a B-class Parker vs Pine's A-class, which isn't the case since Peter's middle name really is B. as in Benjamin.

The simple answer is collider was tested once before the encounter of miles and his dimension’s Peter. And Gwen was sucked in then..that’s why there were reports of unexpected earthquakes in New York. The others came when Miles met his dimension’s Peter n the collider was used for the 2nd time.

We actually can't assume that Gwen was the only one who got sent days earlier. Gwen didn't immediately think to seek out Aunt May. It's possible some of the others in the basement just spent time getting acclimated to the dimension until "Death of Spider-Man" headlines became news everywhere and worth investigating.
@ALMOSTNKKD3 жыл бұрын
I didn't even think about the fact she probably didn't know about Aunt May. Or the more likely reason is Peter hadn't died yet when she arrived and it didn't cross her mind. Though it is weird that she was blown into last week but had survived that long where as Peter B Parker was there for about 2 days and was close to dying.
@Rhodair3 жыл бұрын
lol yeah, could be either - they were all glitching the same, so who's to say whether Peter B Parker was actually any closer to death than the rest of them? You'd need Doc Oc levels of cell analysis on each Spider-person's body to know how far the breakdown was for each. Instead, we only have the perception Peter was more severe because we stick with him longer, and he received the scene revealing the issue to Miles.

So many people have already pointed out so many amazing details in this movie in addition to the amazing score, voice acting, story, artstyle and especially animation. I mean while the plot was very intricate, being a Spiderverse story, they tied it together so incredibly well by having Miles be the character we view the story through and have it all tie together into his origin story as Spider-Man. This is by far still my favorite Spider-Man movie out of them all and I am beyond excited to see what its sequel is gonna bring and whether it can live up to the first one.

Gwen actually going back in time is scientifically accurate. Since time and space are confined to a particular universe, and crossing dimensions you essentially move beyond the 4 dimensions. Hence, the people crossing multiverse could enter the universe at any time period and space, but since the spider people crossed without intention and by accident, they actually should be spread accross time but the space would be the same of where the collider was. But, it would be confusing, even though they went and placed Gwen a week back in time and it actually makes sense, scientifically
@VegetaLF73 жыл бұрын
Exactly, we even see a reverse of this, in a more extreme manner, with Spider-Man Noir. He came from the 1930's in his own dimension and traveled forwards in time to the late 2010's in this one. Time and space get funky when crossing dimensions.

My favourite part about this movie is that all the experienced Spider-Men (and women) are animated on 1s (1 drawing per second) and miles is animated on 2s (1 drawing per 2 seconds) because of this it helps to convey miles inexperience as he doesn’t feel as fluid when he swings, and when he finally does his leap of faith he begins being animated on 1s showing that he’s now truely Spider-Man. It’s just such a subtle way of showing his growth and I love it. Animation truely is the best way of telling and more importantly, showing stories.

What I love most about Spider-verse is the way it combines so many animation and print comic book techniques. It's catnip for an old nerd like me. Regarding time travel, I have an idea that may help. Imagine an hourglass. On top is the multiverse and on the bottom is Miles's universe. Kingpin's machine is the opening in the middle. When he turns it on, it allows a few grains (i.e. versions of whoever's in the machine) to fall through. But like grains falling through an hourglass, they don't all land in the same place, although they do land close to each other. So they "fell" through and ended up probably within a few weeks of each other with Kingpin's activating the machine as the "center." Maybe that makes sense? I dunno, lol Also, we don't really see when any of them come through, only when Miles meets them. And both Noir and Peni have been there long enough to make it to Aunt May's and be expecting more Spider-people to come through, so they've probably been there for a while, too. Anyway, I love this movie and love watching people discover it. Thanks for an excellent morning.

@@joncarpenter-smith9801 that's actually an alt Universe copy of Jessica Drew. That one trained Miles Morales but is basically a typical Spider-Man clone. The original Jessica Drew is a different character and first appeared in 1977.
