It's usually like that with modern young women... Basically, he’s going to hold the relationship hostage until she agreed. The thing is, there’s lots of people in the world. I’m sure there are thousands of women who would enjoy a four-way swapping relationship. And some of them will actually like the boyfriend, his brother and sister in law. He’s going about this all wrong: he needs to be open about being in a multi partner situation and the he’ll find a great gal that’s totally into this arrangement. Story 1 - The problem with pranks is that you need to know your audience. Do you have a bunch of little boys in your friend circle? Then you can use a stinkbomb. Do you have a bunch of sorority sisters in your friend group? Then you can slip ice down the back of their shirt. The type of things you can do with a prank isn't limited by the action, but by the people you're hanging around and the risk the prank introduces to someone's health. But, the important caveat is that you can't prank someone in a vacuum, which means you can't do a prank that will affect relationships outside of your prank target. So, if your boyfriend would laugh off a cheating prank, but your BFF wouldn't, then you can't do a cheating prank on your boyfriend without damaging your relationship with your BFF. Knowing and understanding the people around you is paramount to being an effective prankster, because you need to know the boundaries you're operating within. A good prankster will also usually be very empathetic and compassionate and follow-up the harsher pranks with some kind of after-care; maybe it's buying lunch, or maybe it's just winding down and hanging out in a chill environment. A bad prankster thinks a prank is funny because it upsets someone, regardless of why it upsets them (sometimes specifically because of why it upsets them). Story 2 - This is definitionally grooming. Grooming is when you take a relationship of trust (usually based on a power differential, which always exists with minors and is why we usually associate it to minors) and leverage that trust to coerce someone into sexual acts they wouldn't normally engage in. In OP's case there wasn't really a power differential, that's why this couldn't work. She wasn't reliant on her ex for money or her livelihood, so she could easily walk away from the relationship. But, SIL may be under a different power dynamic, which would've left her susceptible to the coercion. She could also just be a swinger, but this kind of behavior is weird even for swingers. My guess is that it's more likely the boys were raised by groomers, their dad probably, and they believed it was a normal and healthy way to engage with relationships. There's a whole fucked up mess of background that's missing to untangle that bullshit, though.

Pranks can be funny if both people are laughing and nobody else gets hurt. I once had a little prank war that started because I habitually lost bobby pins and hair ties at my friend's house. He started putting them in my coat pockets and texted me to check my pockets, so I started doing the same to him and hid bobby pins everywhere. Eventually, he bought me like 150 dollars worth of bobby pins for my birthday that I'd never use up, so I made little voodoo dolls out of them and hid them around his house. Story 2: I have that type of lock on my back door because it has a large window (the point is that if someone breaks the window to manually unlock the door, they can’t) but the key is kept nearby and the front door doesn’t have that feature. That’s wildly irresponsible

It’s funny that Derek’s pranks always seemed tame, and only the girlfriend’s and Chad’s pranks escalated. Girlfriend was definitely wrong here. So is Chad for wanting to be with a girl who’s in a relationship. So is Derek for being a wingman to that mess. But since OP didn’t communicate with Derek, and at the time of punching the gorilla, only knew Derek did a few fairly tame pranks on his girlfriend. Way too quick to violence.

I don't think Chad got punched for "no reason"; he came to the house in a gorilla suit and got busy with the man's couch lmao

Thats $200 10 years ago. Not $200 today. So , its closer $300+.

@@andrediamond4374except he admitted he knew (or thought he knew) who it was. So it was more like punching his girlfriend’s (who mostly lived there) friend.

If the lock was in America it was likely a 'true deadbolt'. It's a deadbolt on both sides with no handle or knob attached - uses a standard key. I don't see them as often as I used to but they're used when an entrance / exit has glass. A single sided deadbolt is useless because someone can just break the glass and flip the latch. We just kept a key within reach of the lock BUT not the glass ;) Single sided deadbolt locks are useless imo 🤷🏼♀️
