my grandma's fountain pen | sketching with a vintage Montblanc

Today I'd like to show you a small pen set that once belonged to my grandmother. For me it's very special because of the stories and memories connected to it, even if I don't use the pens a lot.
The fountain pen is a Montblanc 22 - it has a piston mechanism with a blue ink window lined with gold that can be refilled directly from an ink well. The 14 K gold tip is nice and has a fine to medium line.
This pen set is very likely from the early 1960s, when my grandmother bought it as a gift for my grandfather.
The two pens, a fountain pen and a ballpoint pen, are made by Montblanc - this is a German pen company that was founded in Hamburg in 1906.

i love seeing old pens, its interesting to see design changes if any. this pen makers nice lines, and the pen brand hasnt changed much sometimes you just cant improve on what works. 😀

Ivy is always something that crops up in my yard (our neighbor planted some years ago) and I pull it out whenever I find it! You've given me a new appreciation for ivy with your beautiful sketch.

Thank you Jill! And to be honest these days I treat the ivy that surrounds my family's house with garden shears too, as you say it tends to grow everywhere and it's hard to keep under control! But I still like the plant itself. :)

We don't have ivy that is invasive here, but there are plenty of other things that need to be plucked regularly l, one being 'creeping charlie.' But, yes, pretty to draw isn't it?

I wanted to buy a Mont Blanc fountain pen but it's so expensive I won't use it. I am a big fan of old Parker 45 pens and have 5 of those! Now their F nibs aren't as fine as they used to be.Old ones are US made, then they began making them in the UK, now they are made in France. Do you ever do calligraphy? I like to draw but use pencils. My wife draws a lot ( pencil and oil), I'll send some pictures but don't know where to send them?
