I believe colt canada placed some sort of rubber insert into the back of the c7/c8 receiver to keep the two halves tighter together. I didn’t think anything of it till I read your comment.

“Rockset” thread locker is sugary like that. It’s generally used in high heat situations like muzzle devices on real steel guns. Really tough stuff but fortunately is relatively easy to soften with a dip in boiling water for about a minute. That’s assuming you can get it into boiling water.

If you clamp a vice grip to the handle of the screwdriver, you can get better torque to unscrew stuff with loctite... just FYI

I brought this baby recently. ( aprox 580 quid ) I had all the issues out of the box except the stock issue. After shooting it on full auto for 2 seconds it jammed. Stripped 2 gears in a gearbox and some piston gears. 11.1v lipo ready. All that is left is the damn fire selector switch. On the left side all snug no wobble but on the right side wobbling like crap. Love Your videos man!

top tip (you might already do this) but when you cant unscrew really really hard screws in screwdrivers theyre is usually a hole of some sort on the handle for mounting it to a wall or belt or whatever, put another smaller screwdriver through that hole, so you have it like 90 degrees to the other screw driver and it gives you awesome leverage and can get a few things unstuck that just using the one screwdriver cant.

I have all the same issues! I swear they thread lock or super glue in crucial bolts!!!! I have a VFC Sig m17,A pistol! The cylinder cracked after 23 rounds and they glued the cylinder housing center screw in!! Do you can’t even fix the cylinder when it breaks! I’ve used 12 diff phillips and at this point it’s stripped and need drilling out and retapping! I had the same issues on two 416 also and i bet this Sig Vertis i have next will be the same! APS isn’t much different,they advertise Aluminum Alloy parts but they may aswell be Pot metal because they’re soft as butter. I get so aggravated but cannot express it on the channel like you can. bough this gun second hand two weeks ago, had not shot a single BB. Opened up the gearbox (warranty sticker was still on), all gears perfectly shimmed, I was pleasantly surprised. Everything else thou, wobbly gear selector, and upper-lower movement is there.

Thing we use on aircraft, if u can't get a screw out, you put the screwdriver up to it and Bash it with a hammer, that will loosen up the rust and glue on the threads

On my VFC Saber I placed a very thin washer(made from a plastic bottle) between the receiver and buffer tube. This did away with any movement, no more metal to metal contact and NO NEED for thread lock. Before it would not matter how tight you tighten the screw because there was still movement. At some point I will be replacing the cheap looking phillips head screw for a Hex, but that is just me.

The putty on the buffer tube is indeed glue. It's actually put there by VFC to keep the buffer tube from moving. They also posted on Facebook to never ever remove the buffer tube no matter what for some reason. That spring guide screw on the 416A5 I built was also tightened down like a fucking mad man.

Ha Ha great video as usual .... love the swearing. When you got to the screw at the bottom of the tube not coming out I was crying with laughter ... only because I have had the same !! TOP TIP ... use a long screwdriver (as you did) but you need one with a hex or flat sided handle .... now clamp the body of the gun (mech box) vertically in a vice ( or workmate ) clamp on an old style big G cramp onto the screwdriver handle and lever it off.... its worked 100% of the time for me. You are increasing you torque you can apply by at least a factor of 6x ( I am a mech engineer so I should know a little bit about torque ). Its OK just put the 5iver (£5) in the post. Cheers

Couldn't believe the amount of outer barrel wobble on my VFC Saber. Told just how they they were. Just strange to me so I made three rubber donuts that fit over the outer barrel and tight against the inside of the handguard. Little to no outer barrel movement now. Maybe it did nothing maybe it did? Either way with a mad bull barrel, modify bucking/flat hop nub, Maxx Hop it shoots laser beams!

Reminds me when I bought a used Krytac PDW for a great price, Only to realize a couple days later that the head of the buffer tube screw was completely stripped out. Still not sure how I'm ever gonna separate the two, makes working on the gearbox a pain in the ass.

Let me give you a pro tip for getting rid of Locktide: Grab a can of Greengas and press it onto the parts that are glued together. Make it real fking cold. Again and again. It will destroy all Locktide and you"ll be able to remove the screw with a final hard twist.

I dunno if you get this in the UK but NA is kinda crazy about gambling purchases. Evike has their loot crates which are US exclusive but they will ship the random boneyard gun deal. The deal is a random M4 for $50 when on sale (with something wrong with it maybe) from a long list of manufacturers. I've been considering giving it a try just to get into gun modification for myself so I can say, "yeah I can buy that cheap and make it awesome". But that $50 could otherwise go into a focused purchase. Thoughts on the boneyard?

That hole you drilled to reduce the wobble will now create a serious stress point in the upper receiver, probably wont ever cause a serious crack but thats beyond unconventional id rather teflon shim the inside of the receiver if I'm that concerned. amazing idea though

Having owned and worked on a few 416s I can say the A5 is the worst, the only think I have left stock on mine is the cylinder , the gearbox shell is brittle and don't last long the qcs guide breaks a lot the design sucked on this one lol plus the good ol butt plug
