If you got 300 degree oil temps, that oil needs to be changed no matter how many track days are on it. My GT350 is tuned with long tubes and E85 or 93. Really woke it up. Runs great and sounds mega !

Absolutely, the oil was cooked, literally haha. I’ll be changing it very soon. If my car stays reliable I would love to do the same. Long tubes and a tune would be a welcome addition.

Love this series ! Couple of points to help out I am by no means an engineer But absolutely love mustangs And worked on them for a long time ! #1 you need a bigger radiator “ thicker “ And you can opt to go for a O2W which basically cools it down using water instead of air which could help aerodynamically because you can make the air entrance smaller however it’s very complicated so i would just opt to bigger rad + Higher Watt Fan #2 when you are tracking take off the hood vent helps decúplate heat Wayyy faster “ GT500 even tells you to remove hood vent “ #3 since You now have way more aero parts to feel a huge handling difference opt for some Carbon Fiber Wheels ! Trust me difference will be insane #4 get a Carbon Fiber Driveshaft “ will do wonders “ #5 suspension is good however can be upgraded to something a bit more stiff and lower “ not too low “ As it will struggle in straights #6 remove A/C unit as well to make more space for rad #7 sounds crazy But adding some insulation after radiator will help tons , that way the air can more easily cool off the rad since the heat produced by engine won’t affect the rad much And i mean adding it like a wall after rad And not right behind the rad which would absolutely destroy the cooling since air can’t pass through

Omg man, your videos are scaring the hell out of me. My 2018 with 4K miles on it just did the same thing to me yesterday that yours did when you had to have your engine replaced! Knocking the same exact way... have to start making calls to dealers in the morning about bringing it in. Hopefully they’re as good about mine as they were about yours.? Quasi purpose developed and built track car and the engines doing this after 4K miles...! So upsetting and disappointed to say the least. I thought you were done with the issues until I started digging into your page more and found out about your continued problems makes me want to get it fixed and then get it gone 😡 I had such high expectations for this car and was so excited about using it for what it was intended for but now I have such major doubts.

Ugh, temp doesn't really bother me seeing how ambient temp was around 100. Probably closer to 120 on tarmac. Throwing Belts is kind of disconcerting. Maybe this specific gt350 is cursed and not meant to be. I'm also not 100% sure on the new ones either. I've looked at a couple 2020 and trust me the dealership GM told me at the auto show he wants it gone and would make me an incredible deal, but I still have concerns. As much as I am a Ford guy, I am really leaning towards manual a C7 grand sport. Regarding trailer set up, 8ft ramps definitely help, when I got mine it's the square nose front I believe they call it the "race series" and I went with a full 22' deck. Leaves me enough room in front to mount a tire rack against nose bulkhead. Have fun with the your child, enjoy the innocent younger years, they grow up fast. They're not quite as enjoyable when they become teenagers 🤣 every day becomes an adventure.

Not sure if I missed any details in the vid regarding this, but I'd be concerned about pulley alignment if you threw the belt and that lead to the coolant overheating. If you get a chance, definitely get the pulley alignment checked with a laser alignment tool, if you haven't already done so. I had a belt shred and snap, which took out the ac belt and lead to spraying coolant out of the emergency drain on the overflow tank on my c6. It ended up being a pulley misalignment on the supercharger pulley and the alternator pulley. They had to shim the pulleys to get them aligned.

Why are you using coolant in the first place? Use straight water. If you’re tracking the car a lot then water is the way to go for many reasons. You’re in south Florida, you don’t need antifreeze anyway. And if you spill on track then it’s just water and you’re not going to black flag a whole session.
@timeatak52483 жыл бұрын
Old post but coolant also has lubrication and anti rust additives. Distilled only on a road car will lead to something bad happening. And Ford will not honor the warranty with water only in the coolant lines. I run 70/30 mix in my track cars.

Hello Jeff, I saw you had a tilt bed trailer, which I do also. So my question is what height of ramps do you use with it after you added the new splitter? I have a 20 ft bed with 6 inch ramps and still slightly drag when loading and off loading. Thanks, really appreciate the videos.
@JeffAshton3 жыл бұрын
I use 8 ft ramps plus race ramps. So around 13ft total. Most cars would work with the 8ft, but my front end is inches from the ground.

Replacement engine? Really? Wow, you’re calm and reasonable during the overview. If you’re throwing belts after the engine swap I’d take it back and get them to replace everything on the front of the block since the new motor, most likely, did not come with a new serpentine setup.

I negotiated a 7 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty out of it. Obviously wasn’t happy, but gotta make the best of it. Doesn’t cover the basics, but I hate taking my car to dealers so I’m probably better of fixing the miscellaneous stuff myself.
@airplanesandfootball4 жыл бұрын
The yellow/green coolant is backwards compatible to the old pink-ish coolant, just fyi. You can use it to top off or replace pink coolant. What they said is that if the car didn't come with yellow/green or pinkish coolant then the yellow/green coolant isn't compatible. www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/quickref/FCSD%20Motorcraft%20Yellow%20Antifreeze-Coolant%20Backward%20Compatability.pdf If the pink coolant is cheaper, that probably was the better call though. The green coolant is supposed to last longer than the pink coolant. The change was made to cars made after January 1st, 2020. www.mustang6g.com/forums/attachments/ford-coolant-pdf.486031/

Thanks for the Sebring track video especially since they are hard to find with the GT350. Just out of curiosity where are you getting your line from? Turn 1, 5, and 17 you are leaving a ton of speed and track on the table with such a short tight line. You have the aero to handle a much wider track out gaining you a lot more speed

Jeff Ashton ah ok. I figured it it was something sticky. The issue with 71rs is that they wear super fast. But when they last the only comparable tire is the Yokohama ad052 or the viper ACR tires
@johnd93574 жыл бұрын
George K. The a052 has just as much grip as the 71r’s and they last much longer. Our global time attack series has moved to a052 as the spec tire. We saw almost everyone’s lap times improve which is nice. And of course more durability is always welcome.

Removing the thermostat in Florida is very common. Dont know many people who have a thermostat in their car.
@timeatak52483 жыл бұрын
Old post but here’s the answer. Oil must reach 120 at least to vaporize water in the oil. And that means with no thermostat it’s a long warm up time to get to temp. A GT350 uses 50wt oil so operating temp is very important as well. Many other reasons to make the engine get to temp faster.
