In this one, we head out to one of my favorite spots and hunt down some wonderful agates, petrified wood, and Jaspers! We had to move slow because it was a very overcast day, but our patience was DEFINITELY rewarded! I hope you all enjoyed this one, and I will have more awesome content coming very soon!

Theo, don't you ever curb your enthusiasm.... it will take all of the fun from us. I'm a bit puzzled. Usually the "Montana Yellowstone Gang" is on gravel bars where there is silt all over every rock. In this one, things looked pretty clear. Had it rained within the last day or so? Saw a few shotgun shells so my guess is there gets to be some serious bird hunting there. And thanks for all of the links to other rock-a-holics. I already had all of the Rockheads that were in your challenge, but this list gave me some new ones. Thanks, as always.

As always I'm amazed of your findings. Do you ever sell rocks? Both my wife and I have gotten into rock hunting and polishing etc. We were just talking of her doing some jewelry. You are her fave as well as Katy. She had an accident breaking her neck and back and a bunch of other bones last week. When she comes home we nor I will be hunting but we enjoy tumbling and seeing the beautiful rocks. I see you throw away rocks that I'd be interested in getting you to sell if interested. We have purchased rocks but not always as good as hoped. Or can you advise where I can purchase. We have done it on Amazon. I know this sounds like a scam but call Munson hospital in Traverse City and you can confirm she's there and will be for two more weeks. Carol Czekaj I'm Alan we are both 72 and we have really gotten into this. I'm rambling.

I've watched a lot of videos this winter, but never been where there's agates myself. So I don'tunderstand what a Treasure State Agate is. Could you explaini it?
@TheoKellison
@TheoKellison 3 жыл бұрын
Of course! A treasure state agate is basically Montana's version of a fairburn agate. They are usually opaque and have amazing banding and fortification patterns when cut and are very uncommon finds. For all intents and purposes they are just Montana fairburns but South Dakota did not take kindly to us calling an agate NOT from South Dakota a fairburn😂 thus we just refer to them as treasure state agates

Is it still pre-runoff over there? Or are you just on higher bars?
@TheoKellison
@TheoKellison 3 жыл бұрын
It is actually at the moment! The river just started to come up a week or two ago; weve been getting some cold snaps so its a bit behind schedule from normal. This was filmed about a month ago though so the river was still at it's lowest before runoff👍
