There are so many layers of skills required to do this whole music thing. Migrating my work from being trapped in hardware land over to a DAW for finishing is one of my last hills to climb. Cheers for the insight - I know how to complete all of the individual actions you took, but putting all those skills together in the right order to achieve a goal in a somewhat efficient manner just hasn't clicked for me yet. Watching the process is very helpful, kinda distills the workflow possibilities into something manageable. Option paralysis is real!

Thankyou @ricky tinez. So useful for a beginner like me (who indulged in a Peak and Ableton) to be able to see your workflow. Appreciate the time you took to film and edit that for us. Legend

You have inspired me so much with these sessions! Been eyeballing a PEAK for a minute, and even entered into the contest, recently. Love the messy room analogy. Nicely done!

Great video. In my humble opinion you are the best on KZbin at this type of video. Normal pace walkthrough showing workflow. You don’t get enough accolades for your contributions. Thank you!

Great video. I went full dawless for a few years. These days I am trying to do all the creative outside of the daw and using the daw just for mixing. Doesn’t always work out, but I find the restrictions actually make me more creative and focused. I am sure in 6 months I’ll be doing something different, lol.

Awesome video, catching up to all of them from the past couple of months. I still haven't made the move to Ableton, I just love FL Studio too much 😅 I have been incorporating my Korg Minilogue XD into my workflow and I love it

Going DAWless was a workflow game-changer for me and I have since made all my tracks inside the Digitakt. However, I still master ITB. Good video as always Ricky.

Kudos to you. I just don't know how anyone can stay calm like you zooming around a DAW UI like that especially on a laptop screen that size. You make it look too easy. That looks like work to me, I'll stick with my DAWless a bit longer 🤣

Love this video; this type of minimal production process is what I'd aspire to, hope that a lot more practice will help get out of months long going back and forth between arranging, mixing and sketching. But YT, djeez, tone it down with the ads...

Such a great video man. I basically do it the same way with a lot of the same gear, so this is awesome to see. One thing (you may have done this off camera when you recorded again) is when I record all the hardware with the ERM, my Ableton session is set up with no plugins since some report wrong and add latency (sp950 plug was for a while for example, think he fixed that). So if I sound design something with plugins I commit to it and print the audio and then delete the plugin channel. Once I start the mix/arrange I save the project as a new session and call it "mix song 2" or whatever. This way if I have to punch something in later on, I can reload the session with no plugins and the punch is recorded in time with everything else. Then I just drag that new audio to the mix session window and continue on. Hopefully that makes some sort of sense, its actually super easy in practice but sounds complicated AF typing it out. haha.
@RickyTinez2 жыл бұрын
hmmmm i had to read that a few times Landon but its starting to make sense haha.. I've noticed super swings in latency when i add a heavy plug-in like Ozone 9. but i guess it adds up with tiny plug-ins here and there! That's smart to have 2 sessions, one plug-in free and one without. You notice that the recording gets delayed or has latency when you record with plug-ins so that's why you have the separate session correct?
@landonh35352 жыл бұрын
@@RickyTinez Yeah sorry that was an insanely wordy post, lol. But yeah anytime I add plugins I see latency. So I just have a blank session with audio files only and no plugs (besides the ERM one) just for tracking in hardware. If you want your mind blown, try this with the MPC 4000 and marvel at the insane tightness.

Dope video as always. Funny enough sometimes i have to do the opposite. I’ll get a loop going in Ableton and just won’t get anything fleshed out unless I throw it on the OT and start playing with mutes and effects

This track is so awesome! Is it just me or is there some weird panning in this track for the OT parts (it's more on the left).

Recording into midi and then using that midi to record the Audio from hardware obviously fixes the latency issues right? I’m still struggling recording from my mpc live across to Ableton and it messing with my groove...
