I was a superfan of the series as a kid and I still play most of the games as a 29 year old, and this is legitimately the first piece of Sonic media that has ever made me emotional (the song + that dream he was having about being with Maria on Earth 😢). Bravo to Ian for the writing and the rest of the team for creating this masterpiece. Now give us a full animated series of this quality!

This is easily the best episode so far. Animation and looks as always are incredible, the action is just mind blowing. Sweet to see more Rouge and Omega and even Abe gun commander as an adult, plus another returning boss from shadow game. I was not expecting that emotional send off with shadow thinking back to the past and imagining being with Maria. Really got me emotional, can’t describe how grateful and happy I am as a shadow fan, this short prologue series has been incredible. Can’t wait to continue the rest of the story. 🖤❤️

And that is that, no more episode, only the game, finally it off. Like Frontier did. You can't get whatever you get from Sega. They do whatever they do. But it was very nice. Nice work.

@@tarasdiary And yet... he didn't fully overcome this part. What Shadow does here, is suppress his own emotions and trauma. He never had time to actually grieve Maria. From the moment he woke up in SA2, it has been nothing but crazy adventures for him, his memories being manipulated or lost, only to be regained. He never truly processed everything. So I really hope this is what they will do in Shadow X Sonic Generations.

This proves my love for shadow so much more. This is why he is always going be my favorite. I love how they expressed his story really well in just 3 episodes. Shadow is one of those characters can easily be misunderstood but he's just heartbroken and hurting. Shadow is just truly and amazing character to me and I love it to death🥺😭❤️

These are not flashbacks. They are revelations about Shadow's (dark) fate, which is to "die" from giving his life to heal Maria for good. And Maria knew about that.

To be honest, when Rouge said there's only one person that could talk Shadow out of attacking G.U.N. I thought she meant Amy, since SHE was the one who convinced Shadow to save the world. I really didn't think she meant Maria, because she used present tense, meaning that she normally would speak about someone that's alive. Anyway, I think Maria's death is showcased too much in Shadow's origin while almost no one talks about Amy's involvement (however small) in his life. Call me a dreamer, but I wish she could appear or at least get mentioned in Sonic x Shadow Generations.

@@FujiMezu I didn't mean in Sonic media in general. I meant that when there's a story about Shadow,it's always about him mourning Maria and how she's important to him. But what about his new friends? Shouldn't he move on and be happy with them? Also, admittedly Amy only got to be important in his story in Sonic Adventure 2 when she convinced him and sadly this moment wasn't adapted well in the Sonic X anime. I'm just saying that she should help Shadow get over his trauma and not bother Sonic all the time. Edit: We love Maria and all, but maybe using her as Shadow's reason to fight all the time is getting old.

@@JDog2656 I don't think you fully read my post. I said Maria shouldn't be mentioned all the time, not that she shouldn't be mentioned at all. Edit: Basically I understand how she's important in Shadow's back story and she should be mentioned from time to time, but her death shouldn't be all that drives Shadow. He should focus on his present and future and not just his past or else the idea of him letting go of the past will be repeated again and again without him actually getting any character development. Edit 2: I also hate Shadow's portrayal as an edgelod. It makes him one dimensional and comes at the cost of his kindness. Seriously, let him enjoy his life and be happy.

But Amy's involvment wasn't big. She didn't cause Shadow to change his mind in SA2 - The flashback of Maria she triggered with her speech did. (And this is the same reason why she was easily replaced with human boy Chris in Sonic X anime adaptation of that scene - it didn't matter WHO - what mattered is that that person managed to trigger the flashback helping Shadow to remember Maria's wish) In the end it circles back to Maria.

The Dark Beginnings series was PEAK Sonic media! The only thing I don't like about them is: Sonic - isn't - present. I KNOW this is supposed to be Shadow's story - I GET THAT - so then WHY not make the new game Shadow Adventure? Or Shadow the Hedgehog 2? Why have Sonic's name there at all?? Sorry - I'm just a Sonic fangirl and not getting to see my boy blue rendered in this AMAZING animation style and looking just as hot breaks my heart. And now with the ending of the Dark Beginning's series... I never will. 😑

Awesome animation. A whole show, made like this would be amazing =) But the story itself isn't very good. Why on earth does shadow need a space ship? He can teleport where ever he what's in no time. We even see, that he has a chaos emerald. This makes NO sense whatsoever. I hope the game itself, isn't filled with plot holes like this.

Chaos Control has range. He obviously just can't do that, or else he could've Shadow could've teleported long distances many times in the games. The only times chaos control was used like that was in 06, and that was with 2 chaos emeralds, from different users.

@@Prime_Legend how is it obvious that he can’t do that? The range or distance limit for chaos control was never officially specified. So it’s possible. And in 06, chaos control was never used for teleportation. Only for time travel. In SA2 on the other hand, it was used for teleportation many times in cutscenes or bossfights. Shadow used one green emerald and Sonic even used one fake yellow emerald.
