Might have said this before, but I'm honestly not even that much of a Shadow fan. But even I'm amazed at how great this is. Sega is actually putting out some really great stuff lately and as a fan of the series, I'm hyped more than EVER! Shadow fans are definitely getting treated extremely well between this game, these animated shorts, and the Sonic 3 movie

Perhaps the most tragic thing, is that Maria and Gerald probably weren’t buried together. Maria, tragically only finally got to Earth, upon being buried in a grave. Everyone, mourning her and the tragedy that occurred. Gerald, after being executed, probably ended up at the bottom of the ocean after GUN disposed of his body and any other evidence. Any friends and family still alive 50 years later, would only then know the truth of the tragedy. While Shadow, doesn’t age, and just doesn’t die easy. Two mortal lives that could’ve contributed so much, and the immortal hedgehog that was used as a cure, weapon and tool, is the one that survived.

The worst part is that, even after Maria died, her relatives probably blamed Gerald for her death under the false pretense that she died in an accident that happened as a result of his experiments. Their relationship with him wasn't the best while he was trying to save Maria, anyway.

@@danielhuelsman76 he only references his own works. The IDW comics are canon, and Sega allows him to put things from his runs in the games as Easter eggs. And Sega has made it clear they no longer want any association with Archie comics. So characters like Sally, or even Shadow villain Eclipse the darkling are all Archie comics characters and will not be acknowledged as anything other than a non-canon decades long collaboration. Aswell as a massive amount of plot lines, lore details and archs will be ignored going forward.

As far as wondering where to start for Sonic games, this one would be a very good place to jump in. Sonic x Shadow Generations includes a remaster of Sonic Generations (which is a big anthology of some of the most iconic Sonic levels). Sonic Adventure 2 is the one that introduced Shadow and Rouge, and defined a whole generation of kids who played it, it's the most "early 2000s hot topic edgelords and nerdy 12yos" memey bullshit ever, and it's like three dollars on Steam so... it's an easy pick lol

This little series was so good and i'm so excited for the game, sega went through a few year of demanding the sonic characters to not show strong emotions and shadow especially was shown as a flat edgelord character where they ignored all the lore he had, im glad they gave him back his humanity basically. also this gives me hope that they are not trying to retcon team dark being friends anymore cause that was another weird decision.

You know whats wild? Anytime theres a scene in a sonic celebration and they reference maria being shot fans will cheer. Usually a company will do everything in their power to try and steer away from death, especially dead kids but i guess seeing marias brutal death continue to exist makes fans happy in a weirdly morbid way

Pretty sure the community has tied Maria getting shot to getting Shadow. If there was some way to get the Shadow we know without Maria getting shot, then the cheering response might’ve been a bit more muted.

Welp bois and girls its that time again at 7:43 Just gonna leave it short. But reason why shadow don't look much as one. Cuz Gerald Robotnik did INSANE research and saw murals of Perfect Chaos (From Sonic Adventure 1) but he mainly focused on Super Sonic. So he basically Ctrl + V and Ctrl + C our boi Shadow. Thats why his quills are spikes upwards than downwards, trying to replicate super sonic But that's just a theory! A GAME THEORY!! (I think)

Also, there are a LOT of sonic games so it might be a bit rough to go through them all if you're trying to understand the series' timeline. And according to the original Sonic Generations and Sonic Frontiers, basically ALL of it is canon. Probably better to just have the community vote on what games to play and in what order. Some of the easier ones came out later. Just save the lore hunting for other things and enjoy the games themselves

Man when I watched this it was like a breath of fresh air cuz goddam was it good! Been a Shadow fan ever Since he first showed up in Adventure 2 so its great to finally get some Shadow centric content. Sonic X Shadow Generations is basically a re-release of Sonic Generations that came out a few years ago, just that it has added in Shadow Content. Generations was a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Sonic Franchise and its starting premise is that its Sonic's birthday, where of course shenanigans happen lol, it also what Shadow is being told to come to by Rouge. Shadow didn't play a big part in the original game so this re-release is supposed to add more for him. As for the black arms I am actually surprised they are using that plot in these animations as the game they are from, Shadow The Hedgehog, did not sell well at all and by most is seen as one of the worst games in the entire series (though I like it for the fact they gave him a gun just cuz it was edgy xD). Its not the worst, Sonic 06 takes that title. I would advise to try one of those games out as they are fun in their own way, just not 06 xD

While its critical reception has always been mixed to negative, in terms of sales it shifted more than 1.59 million copies in its first four months, and by March 2007, was reported to have sold over 2.06 million total. This is coming from Sega Sammy's annual report for 2006 and Fiscal end of year report for 2007, respectively.

If you do decide to play/watch cutscenes from any of the Sonic games, Sonic Adventure 2 should be the first one you do for the sake of having context of the 3rd Sonic movie before it comes out. Also for this new upcoming game Shadow generations I’m pretty sure it’ll be important to see the Shadow the hedgehog game cause that’s where Black doom and the Black arms are from. Besides that there’s not really a particular order you have to watch/play the games expect Sonic frontiers being more later since that’s when they finally start referencing events of older games. Hope you enjoy yourself if you do decide to start playing them.

(Long comment warning) Did you decide to watch this because of my suggestions or was it just suggested in general. Because it’s not a big deal obviously but I am curious. Also chelz don’t worry about not knowing a lot/anything about the comics because there’s even veteran sonic fans that don’t really read them. The shows however are definitely worth watching though because I don’t think there’s ever been a bad sonic show other than maybe the live action knuckles show but even then it was only considered bad because they focus a little too much on the human characters. Plus season 3 of sonic prime is good but not as good as season 1 and 2 because shadow is the only really good thing about season 3. You should definitely do sonic boom reactions though as in the actual episodes this time and not out of context.😂
