You Sir, are a Master Modeller, Respect! My first model was the Airfix 'Golden Hind', almost 60 years ago... At 40, my eyes could not focus like they used to, then alas 15 yrs ago my hands began to shake.. "They say Time, is the Fire in which we burn" Plastic 'kits' have been a very good time in my early years, enjoy while you can my Friends!

Hi, thank you for the kind words! I don't have the Golden Hind, but I do have a Nina from Columbus, it even floats on water due to the stones I put in to it to lay straight :) "Time is the Fire in which we burn" is the first time I hear that, but remembers me the other hobby I have that is astronomy. Are you poet Sir? I am a very slow modeller, beacause I enjoy to spend a lot of time on detail. I finished another model a month ago, and I'am doing now a Dornier Do17.

Beautiful build. The attention to detail is incredible. Looks almost like an actual aircraft. The Heinkel 219 was one of the most advanced fighter aircraft of WWII. Had Germany had more of them, along with more experienced pilot's to operate them at their designed capacity, Germany may have had more of an effect with them. Unfortunately, only a couple hundred of them were made by the end of WWII. As far as historians can figure out, there is only one Heinkel 219 left in possible flying condition (after it would be restored) currently at the Smithsonian Institution storage facility awaiting a full, ground up restoration possibly at some point in the future. It would be awesome if the Smithsonian would actually tkae on the project of restoring the bird to flight worthy condition and actually allow it to fly once more, but the likelihood is that they will just restore it to museum show condition. Supposedly the aircraft is still in very good condition (although disassembled at the current time and stored in parts) as it was almost brand new when the US Army Air Forces came into possession of it after WWII. It was eventually brought to the United States (after being obtained by the "Watson's Whizzer's" group in Germany just after the war concluded) and test flown by USAAF test pilots to see what it's strengths and weaknesses were and then stored in a vacant warehouse for many years in Chicago at the sight where eventually Chicago O'Hare Airport was built. When the new O'Hare airport was being built, many of the former German aircraft stored there were unfortunately considered not useful anymore due to the emerging "Jet Era", and were crushed. Supposedly the crushed aircraft are underneath the runways at O'Hare airport. They did however keep the Heinkel HE219 "UHU Eagle Owl" and donated it to the Smithsonian where it has been ever since. This aircraft was considered one of the first aircraft to be designed from the ground up as a night fighter. It's direct contemporary was the United States' own P-61 Black Widow which was also developed as a stand alone "night fighter" equipped with highly advanced RADAR (for the time period). The UHU Eagle Owl was also equipped with Germany's own version of RADAR. RADAR came into it's own during WWII and has been a staple of not only aviation but other fields as well up to the present. We can thank an off-shoot of RADAR technology every time we heat up something in the Microwave Oven!

That is true. each part of the plane was like doing a small kit of its own, specially the cockpit part where I spent a couple of months and studied the pilots colours. You always found historical variations, but on the end the kit is yours and you decide :) When I took the pictures of the development of the kit I still didn't know I would be doing the video, but I kept your idea, thanks. Nicely done. The He219 "Owl" is one of my favorite acft from WWII . Heinkel designed the acft to be easy to maintain if you notice all those access covers. She was fast to boot. Those who want to see the real one check out the Udvar-Hazy museum in Virginia. This museum was designed to hold over 300 acft under one roof. When you can. Loose the Concorde in a museum its big! It's well worth the trip to the D.C. Area.

Beautiful job. I plan to set up a Uhu, I think it's a beautiful plane. In 1/32, I found that there is the version of Revell, and also the version of Zoukei Mura, which depending on the price, is four times more expensive (!!!). Have you had a chance to compare them and see if the price justifies buying the Zoukei? Thanks for the video, it has been a pleasure to see the step by step of your work.
@ricardomendes8597 жыл бұрын
Hi Miguel! Thank you! Indeed I knew about the Zoukei Mura model after I bought my Revell. I saw the pictures and review, is an impressive model, I think worth of the money if you have enought enthusiasm and pacience. I am already patient, I love to paint and build very precise and slow each detail, but I think I would spend to much time on Zoukei Mura. I think maybe 1-3 years. Building that model in phases, and build other models in between would be probably a good option. Zoukei Mura is a model for sure not to build in a rush; besides I read reviews you should paint in very thin layers every part, so the movable panels would fit over the structure after all the paintings and varnishes. My Heinkel took me around a year to complete (with periods of interruption). For me Revell and all the Eduard extra parts were already satisfying; maybe I would recommend Revell just to put a bit more detail in the engines as an option.

Postavil jsem He-219 v měřítku 1:72 a další He-219 v měřítku 1:32 čeká v krabici.

Hi Dmitriy, thank you for the kind words! Just leave me your E-mail and i'll send you with pleasure the layouts for the camouflage. I have it in PDF at 1/32. Hallo, what a beautyfull "Uhu". Fantastic work. I can't see in your Video, how do you put the camouflage-sceme on the plane. Please, explain me your way to mask the plane. I think your Nightfighter-Camouflage is perfekt. Thank you for doing this video. Greetings from Germany. Bernd.
@ricardomendes8597 жыл бұрын
Hallo Bernd, danke schön für die nette Kommentare! Beforehand I studied the curves and lines of the pattern of the revell pictures as well of the plane in Washington. There is a bit of a logic even if it was drew spontaneously by Luftwaffe crews. After making the camouflage study on the computer, I just drew the RLM 76 lines more or less on the same spots, having the panels as reference guides. For this there was no "mask" (but it was a headache with enamel paint, next time for such lines use definitely acrylic paint, that is more fluid!). For the black part I placed paper masks taken and adjusted from the side views as you see on the video. To place the paper masks a bit above the surface but not right on it, it used pieces of curved yellow tamiya masking tape. By the way are you from Rostock? I told one of my german friends from this city about Heinkel factory there, she had no idea :) Mit herzlichen Grüssen aus Portugal! Ricardo

congratulations on the work done. Let me make a critical (hopefully constructive) critique on your job. I'm sure if I'd ventured a bit more with model wear, it would have given more realism to the subject by eliminating that toy feeling..1/32 scale is very big!..big model, big special effect!.. In any case, congratulations especially on the effect of upper surface spindles
@ricardomendes8597 жыл бұрын
Thank you four your opinion!! Indeed I was wondering about giving some more wear realism, and for that I was reading the AK Aircraft Scale Modellling F.A.Q. (great magazine!). I painted a bit metalic scratches inside the cockpit, but when I started do do the same over the wings (after the panels washes), I didn't like it. Maybe for a next model I'll risk a bit more :)
@fansforevertechromechannel57657 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Mendes Hi Ricardo, I want to better explain my opinion on your model in short: the sesation that I had looking at your finished Heinkel, and as if your beautiful model has never received (as in the historical operating reality of HE 219) maintenance work , never rolled the wheels in the grass or mud, or never flew to fight the bombers with the mighty cannons MG 151/20 and MK 108/30 but in any case, I am convinced that you have made a beautiful model "as if he had left the Heinkel factory" Ciao bro!
