The detail I really like about Aizawa "letting them win" was that the only mistake was her missing the catapult lever with her hand by like 2 centimeters. Her strategy was sound and Aizawa wasn't pulling any punches up to that point. He saw that he was 100% about to get captured, the match should have been over fair and square, but she made a tiny execution error. Aizawa went "Nah that's a BS reason to lose you totally got me." and let them recover. It's the best of both worlds, he gets to have a cute character moment helping Yaoyorozu regain her confidence, without throwing or babying them in any way.

Yep! Deku watching other students is entirely anime-exclusive. It makes more sense when you think about it, having them all run at the same time, but it's easier to watch when it's one after the other.

My take is that Aizawa didn't let them win, but he did hold back for a second to see what those 2 had plan in order to grade them properly. Also yea Horikoshi clearly made Shoto a little socially inept due to his abusive/sheltered upbringing

I like to think that it's a situation similar to what happened with the Quirk Assessment test. Then, he fully intended to expel last place, but had a last minute change of mind only after Deku showed enough potential. Here, he fully intended to go all out, but elected not to pounce on a slight mistake only after Momo sufficiently proved herself with a capable strategy and regained self-confidence.

Sometimes I also wonder where Aizawa gets his eyedrops from too, because I know for a period of time as shown by the vigilantes manga, he was homeless. I know now he probably gets money from the teaching gig, but that also brings in the fact that he obviously didn’t take a lot of money from being a hero initially. It was a passion like it was for All Might even though All Might is rich. Still doubt Stain would like him because of that whole “ only all might is worthy“ thing. He’s sort of a Levi kind of character, because even if he doesn’t technically show it on the outside, he would really do anything for his students. Give them a hard lesson there, get his arms crushed in his face smashed to the ground there, and taking in a lot about their personalities to help them better themselves.

You said you were torn about Aizawa but I think him letting them win was the right thing for him to do. He didn't want to baby them which is why he pushed them both harder at the beginning but letting himself get caught at the end was because he recognized that momo had taken the initiative and coming up with a smart plan, which he wanted to reward. It's actually similar to season 1 with deku now that I think about it. Aizawa fully planned to expel the last place student which he knew would be Deku because of his quirk, but then lied to cover for him once he realized he did have potential. He's a very good teacher I feel because he understands exactly when to use the carrot vs the stick.

Such a great episode for Momo, Aizawa, and Tsu. These final exams are some of the best moments we get for a lot of the more side-character like students and its very much appreciated! (not saying tsu or momo will not be important) but in the coming episodes some quiet characters really get to shine.

Aizawa would never hold back against his students because he believes in teaching them the reality of their lives, but he also knew Momo needed to get her confidence back after spiraling due to her loss in the festival. Remember when the others asked her to tutor them and she was down on herself about the practical, Shouto wasnt the only one who noticed she's been acting that way. Aizawa is an extremely perceptive person especially when it comes to his students. He knows Momo can succeed and be an amazing hero but if he let her fall down that spiral then he's letting her whole future disappear.

I had an extremely similar experience with my English Composition class professor. I wasn't told until AFTER the semester, though. What HE did was push my creativity. On the other hand, he also told me my grades never affected the curve. And Tsu is adorable. :D By the way, NiTinAl is a real metal. It's not as strong as they have it in this show, but it really does resume its original cast shape when it's heated.

I've always wondered about whether Aizawa was throwing them a bone or not when he got captured. My bet is he was just being overly cautious and ended up sabatoging himself. This actually happens to me a lot when I'm dueling people in Bloodborne. I'll perceive what appears to be an unforced error on my opponent's behalf, but rather than taking advantage of it I'll usually back off, mostly because I tend to fight experienced players and often what appears to be a mistake is just a feint designed to draw you in. He had two options, move in for the kill, or give himself space to react appropriately if Momo's tiny fumble was actually a distraction for Shoto. That said, anything could be possible, and I can certainly see that whole situation playing out differently in a few ways.

It's kinda hard to give a decent summary without spoiling anything especially since the first season is just the prologue to the story. It's a viking story all about the characters. Sure, there are a few fights here and there, but it really shines with it's characters. I think there are 2 questions in the show that show what kind of show it is. Those questions are "What does it mean to be a true warrior? And "What is love?" I'm sorry I can't go too deep into it without spoiling.

Aizawa’s so interesting. I personally have the interpretation that he would’ve been captured by a Todoroki attack, jumping back was him avoiding that and whatever Yaoyorozu had in the catapult. Also liked the episode for Iida, the way he just immediately sees the situation as one to run from and executes it with great luck.

I think aizawa really let them win here. His job is to chalange them, not crush their future. He had to give them a chalange big enoph that a 1st, maybe a 2th year could beat with hard work. I used to teach drowning and music as voluntear in a public library here in Brazil and even if i dont really believe in tests outside university (and just because an university teacher has the obligation to make shore you are ready to do your job and some times that mean save lifes etc) It doesnt make sense to chalange a student that just started to learn how to play guitar with a Steve vai's cover.

I know it can be seen as rude to give recommendations, but even if you don't film a reaction to it, I think the show Fleabag is something you'd really, really enjoy. it just seems like something you'd enjoy. it reinvented the method of breaking the fourth wall, has a good amount of social commentary, and I think the main character's arc and emotional setting is both reflective and painfully visceral. it's relatively short, only 6 episodes per 2 seasons. but it's really, really worth the watch. it's as close to perfect as avatar the last airbender in my opinion, and reviews back up that opinion too. even if you don't film it, I just wanted to recommend it to you!! although, if you did film it, I wouldn't complain lol. it has a bit of a cult following. it's quite explicit though, so I don't actually expect a filmed reaction bahahaha (should you decide to watch it). also, as someone whose watched every single one of your videos since the midnight gospel reaction, I'm so so glad and happy to watch your channel grow! it feels rewarding as a fan as well :)

Honestly I think that she would find a way out of it one way or another. She's talented and good enough that it would only be a matter of time before she got re-aligned. I'm angry. Momo can create flashlights. She could've used that in her fight against Tokoyami because she knew his weakness was light in the cavalry battle. She lost against Tokoyami because plot.

A simple flashlight would not have done very much against Dark Shadow in daylight, because flashlights are typically much dimmer than sunlight anyway. A more powerful flashlight would have taken her much longer to make, because it's much more complicated. She barely had enough time to make a shield before Dark Shadow hit her, because Dark Shadow is very fast. She lost against Tokoyami because it made sense.

I don't think she did know his weakness. Tokoyami told Deku his weakness and presumable Deku's whole cavalry team knew this, but I don't think anyone else knew. When Bakugo beats Tokoyami with light, Tokoyami asks something to the effect of "how did you figure out my weakness?" to which Bakugo responds "I figured it out by attacking over and over." meaning he didn't know before the fight. Also even if Yaoyorozu did know the shield she made at the start was just supposed to buy time for her to do other stuff, she was expecting to be able to hold off Dark Shadow while continuing to create more stuff, knowing that Dark Shadow would charge her immediately. She underestimated it's raw strength and was pushed over the line before even getting a chance to get to step 2 which, had she known about Dark Shadow's weakness, could have been a light. Also I kind of doubt a flashlight would've stopped Dark Shadow, it would weaken him but even up against Bakugo, creating really bright flashes as well as physically attacking, it took a little while before D.S. was completely incapacitated. Momo shining a flashlight at it would do very little in the moment, she would have to make and keep a really bright spotlight on it for at least a few seconds straight while defending. Also they were in bright daylight and if you've ever used a flashlight outside at mid-day you'd know how little that really does in the context of *the sun*. tl;dr: I don't think she knew his weakness and even if she did, she didn't have time to make a light and even if she did, who knows how effective it would be it's not like it would instantly and completely incapacitate him.

but Momo didn't actually know, only Deku's team had that information, remember that during Bakugo's fight with Tokoyami, Mina and Momo were confused that Dark Shadow was a lot weaker compared to their own matches with Tokoyami, but Deku and Uraraka already knew it was because of the light from Bakugo's explosions.

Really when I said that it was more to keep myself in check than a criticism of the question.
