The only other time I remember (I could be wrong😂), when Bakugo talked calmly was during S1 when he was paired up with Kirishima for the first time during the USJ incident when the class was separated by Kurogiri. It was when one of the villains that was about to attack them could camouflage and then Bakugo subdued him before he was able to really do anything.

If this is a real scenario, Midnight is stuck in a one sided love with a criminal. It's just so happened that the only way to escape was to play dead and it just unintentionally benefitted Midnight too. I'm so invested in the narrative myself when I first watched this episode.

I have read that them saying that the episode is about "love" is because the TV station was doing a love themed week where every episode was about love. Just like that one Friday where all the shows on NBC? were dealing with a black out across New York City So the writers shoehorned "this is a love story" into the add for the Movie Two Heroes.

They sometimes do these kinds of episodes so they can spend more money on the most important episodes. Plus it kind of gives the artists a breather, cuz lord knows they need it.

MHA slips special episodes like that mid-season to advertise the movies. There was also one in S5 for the 3rd movie. It can be confusing, because they don't hesitate to put these in the middle of an Arc, like here.

Some reactors get upset by Deku figuring out the "locked rook mystery" with the connection between "Midnight" and "the villain" but since in the set up Aziwa did not tell them who called the police than "who called the police" is part of the mystery. And with the timeline "Midnight" walked into a crime in progress- why?

It is actually all canon. The movies have been officially canonized by the author by including originally “movie-only” characters in the manga. So it’s just Bakugo being a little out of character.
