Miss WOG Daily very true! I stopped using it when I started listening to youtubers and the texture of my hair got rough and was too dry couldn't get moisture... I went back to blue magic and touchable hair is back! I still add the leave-in and oil but I seal with blue magic now instead of just using blue magic on it's own. So I have learned a lot of hair health from some great youtubers but I'm not giving up blue magic again.
@Great_Wife_Omo7 жыл бұрын
Blue magic doesn't really moisturize...what it does is locks in your water and moisture from your Cantu leave it conditioner. It is a sealant and it does soften as well. It is amaaaaazing. Another good one is Softee Indian Hemp grease. My mother used Blue Magic or Softee in our hair as children with water and pink lotion....and our hair was long down our backs ...thick and healthy. Too many people and these "natural gurus" make natural life so difficult...hence people becoming product junkies with 50+ products in their closet they're not using. I say BACK TO BASICS... What worked for my mom...works for me...and my hair is thick and healthy. Ps. Go light with the Blue Magic...and use only when needed....after water of course.... You don't want to have the build up...it weighs your hair down.

Guys blue magic is amazing. I've kept the ends of my hair for longer because of it. i have sections of hair that constantly feel dry or "rough" (thats the best way i can describe it) even after its been soaked in water and conditioner. After I use my leave in and oil i coat my ends (a bit extra for the dry parts) with blue magic, been doing it for almost a year now. Safe to say I have hardly experienced any breakage since using blue magic.

regarding blue magic. it's funny how snobby how a lot of us in the natural hair community have become. i read a post a few years ago basically saying that back in the day, our mothers & grandmothers did our hair with the products that had all the "bad" stuff in it and our hair was still growing long and healthy then. *L* now that you mention it's a 3-in-1 product for you, i'm thinking about going back to using luster's s-curl curl activator moisturizer. you have a point about the daily moisturizing process, and i do mine twice daily.

Oils I feel are better for thinner hair which need the oils to be rinsed out within 3 days. With us 4b/c or even just curly hair around that texture thicker oils like castor oil always made my Scalp feels better that just olive oil or grape seed oil. I'm 15 and I live on social media and I remember not wanting to touch the blue magic my mom had but then after some time and running out of expensive oil I needed something on my hair. I remember commenting on your last video upload about some naturals being fed up about their natural hair and I said to seal in moisture on especially 4c hair the best is petroleum based hair pomade period. So for 4c we have four things only that seal our hair take it or leave it Petroleum based hair pomade(personally I use blue magic) Shea butter Castor oil Jojoba oil So weekly I would say just use a clarifying shampoo to wash your hair And see your hair in its gloryyyyy. For me maybe I plan to rock a twist out or braid out on washday I seal with shea butter and then mid week or two days later I moisturise again and seal with my blue magic hairdress I leave my hair alone till wash day. For my daughter I do low manipulation weekly hair styles for her hair and I seal with shea butter and blue magic hairdress and leave her alone till washday and her hair is growing beautifully👍.

Uyai Umoren honestly I just re-discovered this with the "Cantu grow strong strength treatment" where I read in the ingredient list that Petrolatum (yes Petrolatum, it's a form of petroleum) was the 12th ingredient on the list which is not bad compared to other products with Petroleum in it. I must say my hair is so soft, smooth and moisturized; the moisture retention lasts for days (I pair it with Cantu twist and lock gel) literally days. I finally accepted that perhaps my hair can take and likes a bit of petroleum and it is what it is. lol I was trying to fight it but I can't. At the same time that is the only product that I use with petroleum in it so it balances out.

Blue Magic is my staple. It works great for us 4c girls for sealing/locking in moisture. I use it every other day. At night I spray my hair with water add a dollop of BM and smooth it through with my Denman and twist it back up. In the am I put on a cute hat since its now Autumn and that hat aint coming off til after April showers.
@thefactsaccordingtogabbie1497 жыл бұрын
Ms88keys1 question? Is it normal after the 5 day when my hair seem to have lost some moist......I go to reapply more starting with my water it seem to just sit on top like Iittle clear bubbles. So does that mean it's pointless doing? I just wash my hair last night from a almost 3 weeks protective style and I use grease as my sealent. My hair was extra soft, easier to comb because my ends was moisturize and soft PLUS NO SHEDDING OR BREAKAGE.
@LaLa310898 жыл бұрын
Unlike other hair types 4c loves mineral and petroleum based products bc it's the dryest. And we need the coating to protect from breakage. Since I don't wash my hair weekly I don't mind I use a clarifying shampoo then a moisturizing shampoo and its worth it.

My mum used to put blue magic (blue and green) in my hair when I was younger, this was right before I took over and relaxed my hair as a teen. I am not gonna lie but it seemed to work wonders as I had healthy, long hair. I use Softee grease the maximum gro or Indian Hemp; it has more herbs and nourishing oils in it than Blue Magic and smells heavenly! Grease is the best to lock in moisture for moisture retention. It is the best sealant! I use Cantu Leave In as well and I can say from my experience it does indeed help with breakage and single strand knots and moisture retention if you put a good bit on your ends while styling because it is so thick. I swear by it because my hair can be Fairy Knot City if I don't use it.

It wasn''t the grease that harmed our hair. As little girls, we had longer thicker natural hair before we permed it. The only reason why we may suffered short hair before perming is probably due to neglecting the hair or early perms. It was the chemicals (perms) after we became of age that made it worse for us. The grease helped us to retain thick hair, but when we got older and started perming our hair...we started losing our hair by the longer strands. Grease certainly promoted a softer lengthening texture for many.

i wash with Giovanni Smooth as Silk Shampoo & Conditioner, then i deep condition with Giovanni NutraFix Reconstructor....to which i add a couple drops of frankincense oil and sweet almond oil....after rinsing i apply a leave in like Kinky Curly or As I Am....then a oil such as almond or avocado oil...then a cream like As I Am Double Buttercream....if i'm doing a wash and go, then i apply homemade flaxseed gel or As I Am curling jelly and use the praying hands method for definition....if i'm doing a protective style or blow out, i do not use the gel....instead I seal in my leave in/oil/cream with Isoplus Castor Oil Hair grease then style as usual....this grease is also especially good when using heat to blow dry as well...it adds a great sheen and softness.

Jessica Dale Jessica Dale thanks for the reply! Sounds like you keep it simple, which I’m totally a fan of. That Giovanni reconstructor is the truth! It’s so hard for me to find in my area though. I don’t use grease on my own hair but have began using it on my daughters & it’s definitely helped with moisture retention & ssk’s. I’ll give the isoplus a try! ❤️❤️

Is Giovanni smooth as silk the best conditioner for 4c hair that's cone free?

Your hair is soo Beautiful you have inspired me to go natural again ! Thanks for this video.

I haven't used it in 5yrs. I use to press by hair with actual pressing comb you put on the stove and that is the only reason I used Blue Magic. I am natural now. I may try it on my natural 4c hair. I have learned so much about how to care for natural hair. I have followed you for a few years and I appreciate this review of products. Peace Sister.

I need to get some stock in Blue Magic come back lol I love love love my Blue Magic and will never stop using it. I went through the entire natural products thing and had setback after setback. I went back to my roots lol Blue Magic my hair is growing like crazy. I do incorporate some of the new methods I learned in caring for black hair like shampoo or prepoo once a week. I use a Leavin conditioner I make "Kimmaytube" method, I apply that Blue Magic Tea Tree OIl cream and then I put the Blue Magic Hair Food or Organics on top of that like a seal. My hair is finally retaining length, thick as ever and super healthy.

Blue magic is a magnificent sealant!!! I've used Giovanni deeper moisture conditioner - the bomb! It changed my hair - the coil was not as tight. I plan to try the leave-in and some products from the 2chic line. Thank you.

TFS Dephne! My sister also uses the Giovanni Leave in & she loves it! I will definitely be looking into trying Giovanni products. Also, I use the Shea Moisture Low Porosity Leave in Detangler to seal my hair & it works so well. It has a minty scent-some don't like it, but I love it and it keeps my hair soft and moisturized for days (I also have dry 4c hair). The SM Raw Shea Extra Moisture Detangler is also similar in texture to the Lo-po product. Just suggestions if you want to try something other than BM. Also, Kinky Curly Knot Today is another popular option. But hey, if BM is the stuff for you, I say stick with it. (Side note: I wouldn't use either of the two SM detanglers that I mentioned here as detanglers as they are very thick and do not provide much slip, but that was my experience with them).

Girl! Blue magic is super old school. My mom used it on our hair as kids and I'm over 40! They have 3 types now. It is an amazing sealant and locks in moisture like nothing else. I used it on my daughter's high porosity 4b/4c hair for a while. But I stopped because I wasn't sure about petroleum based products and breast cancer is an issue in my family. I will do more research and may very well go back to this one. I also use Giovanni products on my daughter. They are very good but I do pre poo or follow the shampoo with a heavy oil for adding back moisture because her hair dries out quickly. I use the Deep Moisture line and the BlackBerry masque.

Onjeinika Brooks Please just keep in mind that water is moisture. Blue Magic, oils, grease and the like are used to seal in that moisture.
@ericareed1838 жыл бұрын
I think because you are using a clarifying shampoo as your staple the Blue Magic doesn't stand a chance to prohibit your hair from accepting the deep conditioner. And after your wash and leave ins are applied the Blue Magic coats and hold in the moisture treatment you just gave it. So yes it's ok to use as long as you clarify it off prior to deep conditioning. 🤗 #gracelooksgoodonme

Love, love, love your videos! I stopped using hair grease when I transitioned a few years ago becauseof what I read and watched on natural hair. Then later developed a problem with dry brittle hair. We have the same hair type, so after watching your video, I decided to go go back to what worked on my hair and bought some Blue Magic(I use Cantu also). I'm currently wearing a twistout and I retwised my hair last night with Blue Magic (mist with water each twist, applied Blue Magic, then Edens curl define cream) and my twistout was the BEST I've ever done. Amazing curl definition and it's soooooo soft, not greasy!!! 😲Blue Magic does work!!! I agree with you. I've learned I have to use what works for my hair. Blessings.

I grew up on Blue Magic... but as a professional Model, it was frowned upon for more light weight products! My sister and I Both have naturally curly hair... & blue Magic & Water would makes the curls POP!!! Yes... even moisturized for Days!!! I honestly might just start going back to it after seeing this video! Yes... I see this video is 3yrs old... but will go back to it! A suggestion is actually, “ OJON”! It is literally hair crack for black hair!!! It is made by native Americans in the mid west... & honestly I haven’t seen it sold in years... BUT!!!! My hair GREW using their products!!! So much so... I stopped using it while I gave short hair now to avoid it growing back too fast!!! But once I’m ready to grow my hair back... I will find it!! The OJON Hair Mask... & Restorative Treatment!!!! It works in ALL black hair & yes your hair will burst into growth!!! If I can not find my beloved OJON... I will find your Giovanni products!

Back to Basics and the Blue Magic works for me! For my hair, I need the extra protection so Blue Magic has worked for years for me. It seals very well-the oils do not seal as well for my hair to retain length. I use my natural oils for deep oil treatments only. I seal and maintain the moisture in my hair with Blue Magic and Royal Crown is my second choice for sealing and maintaining moisture to retain length.

Thanks for the product tips! I have 4b-c hair as well, & have gone thru changes with my hair not responding anymore to certain products, so will def try these. I grew up using blue magic too...if your hair is already moist from other natural products, can use as a sealant to "lock" the moisture in, I wouldn't use it "alone" for an extended period of time though.
