Maangchi-sshi, I’m so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Thank you for bringing us along on this very meaningful journey down memory lane! (Those noodles looked delicious!)

Maangchi, my condolences on the passing of your mother this summer. When looking back to childhood, we often see the love that went into the dishes our mothers prepared. I have both of your cookbooks, and have had coworkers come over to make kimchi. The recipe is from your first cookbook. Those days are always filled with laughter and happiness. Their children are happily playing about the house and backyard. We enjoy good food and good company.

I visited Yeosu with my family in 2022 and had such a memorable time. It’s beautiful and the marinated crab is unparalleled! This was a lovely tribute to your childhood and your mom. ❤ Thank you for sharing.

Nice clip......my first experience overseas was Dageu, my supervisor and I traveled everywhere. We ate so much good food, met wonderful people. We even found a gym and worked out with a Mr Korea champion - I was in the Air Force. To this day, I love Korean food. Watching your video, brought back so many nice memories. Someday, I would like to go back and visit.

I’m so happy to see you share 여수시! I was adopted to the US from an orphanage there in 1983 and have visited 3 times in the last 10 years- including trips with my son and daughter separately so they could see where I’m from. The last time 2 yrs ago I had the best kimchi in my life there - the restaurant had all gold dishes and utensils and a special dried fish and the kimchi was wrapped with fresh seafood, so amazing. I always discover food that hits my soul there every visit - flavors that are part of my blood! I cook recipes from your books and videos for my family

Today you told us about your hometown and your mother, and it is the same day of the year my mom died 28 years ago. My mom was always curious about the bigger world than just where she lived. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for your recipes, stories, and filling small part where my mom would have been.
