Long hair was a very popular thing for men in the late 1960s and 1970s and carried over into the rock culture. Amazing song, thank you for reacting to it. Queen's career spanned 20 years until Freddie died in 1991. Years later Brian and Roger teamed up with Paul Rogers and did some shows and the response was really amazing, selling out venues around the world. Paul had his own band to get back to so Brian and Roger were ready to put Queen to bed for the second time when they were asked to be special performers on American Idol and they met Adam Lambert. It worked out to be a perfect fit, Adam with his vocal dynamics, flamboyant style and background in stage performance so 9 years later, they still tour as Queen + Adam Lambert and sell out stadiums around the world. It is not the same as it was when Queen were just 4 voices and performers on the stage, that intimacy no longer exists but their shows are still outstanding and full on performances, audiences love them. Brian (guitar) now 73 and Roger (drums) 71, they are both still solid rockers.

Nice reaction! Queen are the 4th best selling artists of all time. They are a rock band, but they did any style and genre of music, their music is very diverse. Bohemian Rhapsody was written by lead singer Freddie Mercury. The song is written like an opera, it tells a tragic story of a young man who killed someone, he gives himself over to the authorities, the middle section is a trial for his soul between heaven and hell, in the end he is sentenced to death and he accepts his fate. This song was a marvel of recording technology at the time. With today's technology you can cut and paste sections that have similar vocals, in those days every line had to be sung and recorded separately, so the song about 180 vocal overdubs. There are unlimited tracks available today, so you can add as many different sounds as you want to a song. Bohemian Rhapsody was recorded in analog with 24 tracks, so the band had to play all of the music live in one take to create more space for all of the vocals. Of course there was no autotune or melodyne in those days. Bohemian Rhapsody was a rock opera, it is part of genre Progressive Rock. The song has 5 different sections, it was composed more like classical music. The song goes through the 5 stages of grieve. The 60's and 70's had a cultural revolution. Teenagers and young adults tried to do things different then their parents did culturally. The early 70's in London were bleak and a dark, there was economical problems and a lot of riots. Teenagers and the younger generation, started doing Glam Rock, it was an escape from everyday life. Artists wore colourful stage costumes with glitter and platform boots. Men wore make-up and dressed in women's blouses. Glam Rock or Glitter was a mixture of 50's Rock 'n Roll and pop music. Queen was created in this era, Queen themselves were not really a Glam Rock band, they did more Progressive Rock, but they sometimes wore the Glam Rock clothes. They were a group that was highly active on the charts for 20 years (even now their Greatest Hits album has been in the top 100 album charts for 17 years), so their fashion and style constantly changed. They are known for their great harmonies, unique guitar sound, very good musicianship and great songwriting, Queen is unique in that every member in the band wrote a no.1 hit, no other band has done this. Lead singer Freddie Mercury is most often chosen as the best vocalist of all time. Brian May is usually included as one of the top 10 best guitarist of all time. Bass Player John Deacon is usually included as part of the top 10 best bass players. Drummer Roger Taylor is known as one of the best singing drummers. The members of Queen: Freddie Mercury - Pianist & Lead Vocalist Brian May - Lead Guitar & Back-up Vocalist Roger Taylor - Drummer & Main Back-up Vocalist John Deacon - Bass Guitar You should check Somebody To Love or Save Me live from Montreal 1981.

@@GloreeyahOnuh There are (were in cases) so many bands, types of rock. I recommend you start with the greatest band of all time, one that came from where you are now, England. The "Lads from Liverpool", "The Fab Four", as they were called who's none other than the Beatles. There were earlier rock bands of course and Elvis. But what really hit and hit big, worldwide really was The Beatles! However, they did well over 200 excellent songs in an 8 year period building a rich and varied body of work, plus many songs on their own after they broke up. And they inspired lots good bands. I'm at a loss as to what first Beatles song to advise you, that is if you've never heard one. Perhaps your husband can advise. I'll suggest three different types of songs, something early, middle and late period, "I Feel Fine" (1964), "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds" (1967), "Something" (1969). In fact, any song from the "Whispering Jack" album is worth listening to. He's just as good live as in the studio too.

Rhapsody is a characteristic musical piece of romanticism composed of different thematic parts freely united and without any relationship between them. This song recreates the myth of "Faust" in four blocks. The ballad, where he confesses a murder to his mother, and says goodbye to her. The Opera buffa, where the judgment of his soul is recreated, where angels and demons discuss condemnation or forgiveness. The Rock part, where the Devil makes his plea, saying that he cannot escape his sentence, nor live a life dedicated to evil, and then pretend to betray him, with excuses such as that he has had an unjust life. And the final section, where he reflects, and does not care about condemnation or forgiveness, since he has always lived according to the circumstances or how the wind turned ... (Leaving to free interpretation, according to the lyrics or classical musical language, that Freddie knew a lot about that, if he was convicted or saved)

Fun fact: There once was a time in history (way back), when it was viewed as manly to have long hair, also signifying strength. Also I think that at the time it was custom for women to not have long hair, or maybe even forbidden for them to grow their hair.

Momma mia! How is it even vaguely possible for a human being living today to have never heard this before? Very fright'ning!

Don’t be 😊I am a living example with a whole host of others! Like they say “ Better late than never” I’m glad I got to listen to them in my lifetime. Freddie Mercury is phenomenal.Thank you for watching!

Welcome to the Queen rabbit hole! Try their live performances. There is no better live band IMHO. Try Somebody To Love Montreal 1981; Under Pressure, Once Vision, Another One Bites The Dust, or any other song from Wembley Stadium 1986. Then, of course, is the best live rock performance still to this day, Live Aid 1985 20 min set by Queen. Queen will never let you down.

"They look like women." LMFAO. Yes, Gloreeyah, they do. As did many rock stars and some regular people at the time. Thank goodness the fashion passed! I happened upon your "How Britain Ended Slavery" video today and am now subscribed to your channel. 🍌👍🙂

It's a true story, told in song about the singer, who has realised he made a fatal mistake that will cost him his life, and later, it did. Lamenting to his mother, saying sorry for murdering her only son. Watch it again knowing none of it is fiction.
