The Don’t Starve Together crossover update hit Terraria not too long ago! I took some time exploring it, and today, I’m giving my “builder’s perspective” on it.

Honestly, I wish chester gave you access to the safe instead of the piggy bank. I dont ever see myself using chester since I rather have my harpy pet, as well as a money trough is already good enough. If chester was connected to the safe, then it would actually be unique. It is still a cool pet tho.

Hard agree. I'm already so used to having two slots wasted by trough and void bag, only reason to replace my rainbow dungeon guardian pet would be for an easy vault or defenders forge.

I think the point of it being connected to the piggy bank and not the safe makes a lot of sense, so you don’t really feel forced to use the pet, as Chester can be substituted by the money trough, who dosent take a pet slot It’s already unique, as it’s the only pet to have a functional use outside of (maybe) a few being a potential light source

@@gamecavalier3230 problem with that is that Chester dosent really give light, so it dosent make any sense for him to be in the light pet slot, if it were like hutch or something I could see it making a lot more sense, as hutch can emit light in game if glow berries are in his inventory

I love the update, but I just wish there was a little bit of hardmode content, one thing I think would have been perfect was adding dargonfly as an early hardmode boss, the scales she drops can be crafted into a special type of flooring and a fireproof chest, so in terraria maybe the scales could be crafted into a new block for a full building set, which would have covered the builder's content. It would have paired so well with the deerclops too, deerclops is terraria's first snow biome boss, and dragonfly could have been terraria's first desert boss

I feel hardmode bosses would be difficult to implement, dragonfolly is the only flying boss and a non flying boss for hardmode is a pretty big nono (unless enclosed) and dragonfolly seems way too similar to queen slime unfortunately.

we got the first don't starve boss and they got the first terraria boss, plus the twins but we'll just pretend we don't see em bc it sounds more poetic that way, ps we at least got 1 item for hardmode, the ham bat :D

Yeah it would be really cool to have Dragonfly in the desert, and it could probably spawn randomly in a sandstorm similar to deerclops (or you could summon it of course). Also since you can use dragon scales to make a furnace, you could make a campfire with it, and also make an armor set with it to have more purpose to the fight, similar to dst (well in dst you can only make a chestplate out of it but it would work).

I would just love to see Klei make The Twins Of Terror better. They are just two eyes of Cthulhu with more health right now. They need some Remixed Boss 2, More Ichor and Cursed Flames.

just wish they added a desert boss too, the pick would've been right there too the dragonfly not only has a lot of potential as a boss, but the drops you could get from it could be interesting too like maybe the dragonfly could've dropped pre-hardmode wings? sure they'd have to fucking suck but it'd be one helluva reason to wanna go out of your way to fight the damn thing and idk if it's already been done, but a mage weapon that summons a lava geiser thingy, would work sort of like the clinger staff, although it wouldn't be constant, instead just being a burst, or a dragonfly scale accessory that works similarly to the honey comb, but instead making you mimic the dragonfly, meaning you'd release a ring of fire after getting hit, and perhaps giving you some extra defense? there, already 3 potentially pretty solid drops for an awesome boss in a place that desperately needs a reason for you to go there ...P.S: the dragonfly would also fit right in considering she'd be yet another mommy dommy milf bos-

Unfortunately, I don't think relogic is able to add any more paint types. I remember suggesting that they add a paint that would apply the effects of echo blocks onto them (making them invisible), but had been told the same thing. They also gave a reason, though I can't remember that reason.

"I would love to see Klei make their own version of the eater of worlds." There is actually a boss somewhat like EoW on Don't Starve's (not together) Hamlet DLC, I think it's called the Pugalisk. It's a pretty fun boss and I recommend that DLC strongly. Anyways, great video as always, thanks!

Dont starves world is really hard to travel in and most of the stuff in it is finite, so having an evil biome destroy it all or make the player check on it regularly is kinda frustrating. However the could add the biomes as new islands and that would be perfect since the ocean in DST is kinda empty.

The thing I really want them to add is an upside-down alternative to the "half-slab" block you get when you first hammer a block, I thought they'd do this for 1.4 but it unfortunately never came. I hope you'll consider recommending this to Re-Logic, Khaios!

Cool vid! This update actually got me to try and take on Don't Starve again. It's not easy, not by any means, but the atmosphere, the gameplay and my love for a good roguelike keep me from giving up, despite not fully understanding what is going on or why or even how to progress in the game. It's good fun tho, since the game is pretty unique and exploring a game and its mechanics and figuring it out is very satisfying!

Wish there was something like the lunar monolith’s which changes the look around you to look like the radio thing or the constant seed’s screen filter

I think a good idea for it could be something like Maxwell's door or the Florid Postern. You could craft them with a radio thing to make a monolith type object for the filter.

I love the chest pet because then you don't need a slot for the money bank nor do you need to go looking for it in your inventory. I like the functional pet,second favorite add on is the medallion you can wear for light while underground with your armor set in tact.

Damn that thumbnail looks good. In terms of things I would've liked to see added, I completely agree that they should have added some furniture and building things (such as new campfire style for the fire pit, as well as ancient furniture for terraria) could have been added to both games, as well as some weapons and at least 1 biome/minibiome, since yeah, both games offer a unique variety of them. Although the concept of a spreading corruption/crimson in dst sounds really good, in action I think it would be too involved and distracting from the actual goal in DST (which believe it or not, isn't to not starve), and I think adding something like the ice biome or jungle would be more useful and less annoying (access to ice outside of winter?). I also think that the swamp or ruins would fit rather well in terraria, as the ruins would be able to offer some really pleasant building blocks, and the swamp would be a cool addition for early game. For the constant seed I kinda also would've liked a maxwell statue in the marble biomes, and actual DS spiders in the spider biome along with their egg. But anyways good, but slightly underwhelming update. Also the build is really nice, especially the tentacles and the craftsmerm hut (the boat is very nice too, I like the addition of the crock pot on it. Very good attention to detail.).

Games that would make for awesome crossover content - Fallout - (Fallout Furniture , power armour, and a biome that's radioactive and filled with mutant enemies and a Deathclaw boss) - ARK Survival Evolved - (Tek based items and new mounts) - Noita (pretty much a way to add new fluid mechanics and liquid types to Terraria) - Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (TABS gets an army based on Terraria villagers and enemies, Terraria gets gear and maybe a boss) - Grounded (a lot of bug/grass themed furniture and blocks and items) - Astroneer (an oxygen system for Space biome and something like the clentaminator but it generates blocks )

Oh I forgot the event also incudes the following creatures: Pillagers which drop crossbows, Ravagers, Enchanters, Witches, Armored Pillagers, Evokers, Vindicators which drop cubed axes, Vexes, Ghasts, Endermen which gives enderpearls and allow teleportation, and there are Creepers, and phantoms which drop elytra feathers, used to craft elytra with souls of light and flight. Bosses in this event include the Ender dragon, The Arch Illager, the Wither, and the Redstone Monstrosity. The rest is up to Terraria to decide.

They should do a Minecraft Pillager crossover. It will be an event that can be summoned by a pillager banner, (Crafted with 2 emeralds, 5 sticks, and a soul of night and might. During this event you can gain all sorts of Minecraft resources (Including cube diamond sword, Cube bone which summons a dog for you, etc.) After this event you get a villager to move in. However the only currency it takes are emeralds (Which can be dropped from pillagers.) These are some items you can buy: ender eyes, an equiptable that shows ores, a baby villager pet, a cube horse ridable, and cube survivor hat (Steve head) or other Minecraft mob heads. Blocks available are: cube wood, cube stone, cube logs, (can also craft cube wood and campfire with torches,) Diamond saddle, (summons ravager ridable which can reach fast speed) emeralds, and the bone and sword from earlier, but also a cube diamond pickaxe, moss shavings, (gives you a baby axolotl) and the rest for Terraria to decide! Hopefully this makes it across.

I like that pet that gives access to piggy bank, much better than needing to take precious inventory space. If they can make more of the pets functional and a social slot for a pet that is for appearance purposes to override the function and the dye slot too just like the main armor and accessories slot. Re logic and Klei make 2 games that can generate worlds that are made from square blocks: Terraria and Oxygen Not Included. Oxygen Not Included is another great game with plenty of content for a crossover.

I remember I didnt know the update happened until it was too late, I was fishing in very early game att night... in a snow biome. Then att the right there was a 90 degree mountain I was trappen when the boss came.

The only thing im dissapointed about is some of the weapons in it being bad. I heard they got buffed but from what i saw theyre still pretty meh. Abigial and the new sentry from deerclops is sick tho

deerclops is really nice, but it really just feels like there should be more, this is especially highlighted in the custom seed, where barely anything changes like come on, dragonfly for desert, spider queen for the spider mini biomes, maybe toadstool for the underground? klaus for frost legion? by no means do i want all of these, but just deerclops on his own is a little lacking (seriously tho, spider queen would've fit really well considering you could literally just make the spider queen staff into one of her drops, while buffing it a bit of course)

I really wish we could see the Swamp and the Ruins in Terraria. You've already talked about the Swamp, so... The Ruins are such a lore-filled area in Don't Starve, filled with dangers and powerful gear. It has unbelievable furniture potential as well... It would be really cool to see an ancient structure in the underground, populated by Splumonkeys, Spiders, and Chess Pieces such as the Bishops, Knights and Rooks. Maybe we could get some powerful, post-Plantera gear with Nightmare Fuel... or maybe even fight the Ancient Fuelweaver? Well, those are just thoughts.

I figure the boss would be quite fun if it wasn't for the shadow hand rng and reworked them into something that makes you make quick decisions on how to engage or back off. I normally feel in control and like I just need to prevent myself from landing in a bad spot, but here I just feel like I need some ehp and preferably knockback resist to make it consistent. (Can't even cthulu dash through the legs, so weird) There's very minor exceptions like Skeletron hands getting a little goofy and unpredictable, but it can really stack up with Deerclops. People also say the rewards could be better, but I do enjoy the shadow hands accessory, it's kinda nice on mining/building loadouts etc. where you just want passive dmg and knockback.

Since we know Klei is willing to work with the team, would love to see a Oxygen Not Included crossover where we get an overhaul to the sky/space biome and a bunch of other mechanics, like spawning in the underground and the mobs that spawn there are what the forest would get and the further out you go you'd get stronger mobs like normal, with the surface being just the space biome and you'd need ways to survive the extreme temps and lack of oxygen.

The only thing I don't like about update is that features are only available on special seeds. It would be much more cool to have the ability to select world modifier separately from seed, so it wouldn't defeat the purpouse of seeds and still let players have all this special worlds
