The crescents on the fender flares ruin it for me. They're not executed well like on the concept and end up just looking busy.
@threesixnine369six2 күн бұрын
Same! They should have kept the same proportions and shapes for the fender flares and the wheel arches, but for some silly reason they decided to go with smaller circular wheel arches that don't match the fender flares anymore. It makes it look awkward and weak and changes the whole stance of the car.

Ioniq 9's styling reminds me of one of those MPVs that are popular in Europe and South East Asia like Fiat 500L, VW Touran or BMW 2 series Active/Grand Tourer. Somehow the hood/beltline is too high, but the roof is low? Not a good look regardless

I would bet that the swiveling second row seats will not come to North America due to safety regulations here. The Kia Carnival has swiveling second row seats in certain trims in the Korean market but they are not available here in North America. Also, a large part of the central top pixels in the back do light up as they are the "third" brake light.

They should've kept the pixelated taillight bar where the IONIQ9 text is and integrate the indicators there too. That way at night you see a giant H for brand recognition and then have the top LED wrap around portion be the brake light. 3 rows of LEDs of the taillight bar to match the front and you can have more customized designs for how the lights work.

I don't think it slaps the same rear motor to the front for the performance version. I say that because that would mean they are using another permanent magnetic motor up front instead of an induction motor which will increase price by a decent amount.

This looks like Hyundai walked right up to the line of making a minivan and then decided against it at the last minute (just like the Model X, a million other giant crossovers, etc). I wish they’d just make a van already. I’m sure KIA has plans to further electrify the Carnival, but it wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing for Hyundai to have their own IMO. People can point to the death of the Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan vs the Chrysler Pacifica and I’d just say that Caravan was always the more popular nameplate.
