I actually submitted an idea for a GOTY who was into woodworking but they literally just told me no so I just made her myself since I’m a customizer and I love her.

OMG, you did?! How did you do it? I have so many ideas I want to submit!! They may say no but I don't care! I think we should all start overwhelming AG with new ideas, and perhaps the more fans they see requesting new ideas they may finally give in. 😄

they literally don’t listen to anyone’s feedback. I feel like now they are only catering to what really small children would want to see. Because let’s be honest, none of them are really going to think in terms of diversity (outside of what the doll physically looks like) because I think racially they need to create more dolls so that those children feel included.

I love how they work McKenna into the book - but does that mean that all GOTYs exist in the same universe? Is Lindsey going to be the mother of GOTY 2026? 😂 But when I heard that Lila was into gymnastics, I was like didn't McKenna just happen? And then I realized it's been 11 years. 😅 I took a hiatus from my AG obsession in high school and college from around McKenna's time through 2021, so it feels even more like yesterday.

Oh so for the book! My daughter will be 7 and LOVES to read! But those journal type part graphic books are so so popular! Like Unicorn Diaries, Diary of a Pug.. etc 😂. So I think the journal is just to adapt what is popular into that reading group 😊.

I would DIE for a nature girl!! My daughter is getting Lila and her gymnastics set and clothes for Christmas. Gymnastics is her life so she's going to lose her mind. She has Corrine and that sweet doll goes everywhere with her! I wasn't into AG as a child, but I love watching how special it is to her.

I love how they incorporated McKenna, I just wish they gave her blonde hair and blue eyes in the illustration instead of brown hair and brown eyes. I hope AG sees how collectors liked that incorporation and do include that in the future. We totally need a new GOTY talking about cyber bullying. Chrissa’s movie is my FAVORITE because her story was so real! Also, would love to see another take on a nature enthusiast! Edit: you’re totally making me want the gym bag now 😫💀

I totally agree with the hobbies being recycled! I definitely want to see another GOTY who gets bullied. Especially like you mentioned, SO MANY little kids have phones now I also feel it’s extremely crucial that AG does a girly who gets cyber bullied.

Hi, you mention Evette in this video and I have seen your videos on her. My question is, does the technique you used to care for her hair work on the older Evette wigs? I have an Evette from before the wig update, and her hair needs some attention, but I’m scared to mess up her hair with the technique. Awesome video, Lila is so cute! Edit: I used the method on my Evette with the older wig and it turned out gorgeous! Definitely recommend for any Evette wig!

I like the new GOTY, can’t wait to see her in person. The meet is just ok, prefer the riding outfit better. I was disappointed that was not the meet & lack of jacket or sweater makes the outfit a little basic. I like they chose the Josefina mold over Joss. It would have been cute to see more of a true amber eye shade, the horse is cute, & looking forward to seeing more from her collection in the future, especially horse stuff! 🐎

I’m kinda tired of them recycling hobbies, honestly. It’s always the same sports! American Girl needs to realise that not every girl is into dancing and gymnastics. What about knitting, making jewellery, photography or writing? Or if you want to stick to sports, what about softball, volleyball, rock climbing, running, tennis or martial arts?

I get they recycle popular hobbies because the audience of kids they are trying to capture is constantly aging in and out but I still feel like the amount of recycling is just lazy. Like even a sport like swimming is so obvious but hasn’t been done at all.

Definitely love the aesthetic of everything on the GOTY 2024 doll. I really love the Italian American background of her surname. Hope that I can learn more about her culture as I do not have any dolls with that dynamic. Love how you shut down any negative feedback about Evette. I think a lot of haters who disliked her back story or just the idea of her as a doll used her hair as a reason to really go hard on her. Not "everyone" who disliked her hair really "disliked" her hair if you get what I'm getting at. But no shade to Lila, she is stunning and is giving me Samantha 1st season Who's the Boss vibes.

I am so sad to learn about that if you want to buy her book separately ,the only choice is hardcover and it's more expensive. I lives in Asia and buying doll is way too expensive. And now they increase the price of book by changing it to hardcover. I was so excited meckenna gonna be in her story and want to buy the book when it comes out, but 16.99 makes me hesitant about buying it. The book without hardcover used to be 7.99 It's really sad they decide to treat their customers this way, by bringing the book price high 😢

I really like the doll and may get her but I'm not a fan of the rest of the collection, it seems bland, tired and generic, so I won't be getting any of the rest of it. But I'm sure kids and collectors who love these hobbies will enjoy her collection, so I'm happy for them. 🙂

I love all her gymnastics things because I’m a gymnast and they look like real thinks that I take to practice so I will probably get all the leotards and accessories, her horse things are cute but not for me tho except the outfit! The only thing out of the gymnastics things In definitely not gonna get is the uneven bars because u can make some for under $10 out of pipes and duck tape! You can look at videos on how to make them! The think I wish she has was a cat instead of a dog because LITERALLY EVERY DOLL HAS A DOG like what about the cat lovers :(

personally, i don't mind that AG is re doing some GOTY themes because if you actually think about it there have only been 1-3 for each theme and adult collectors are not their target audience. Plus, at a certain point you run out of "good" ideas meaning stuff kids will actually want and be interested in. I'm not trying to be rude this is just my opinion.

I was committed not to buy Lila and then I saw your video -- and could not, not, not resist. I like her story and wish AG would integrate more GOTY and even Historical dolls into new GOTY stories (GOTY 2025 -- Melody's granddaughter -- how brilliant would that be????). I do wish that Lila's story had focused on one physical hobby and one maybe more cerebral hobby, because I think those are generally left on the cutting room floor. Maybe they are not as marketable. And AG is a business, Mattel is a corporation and they have shareholders. It stinks but it's true.
