Btw, I found the whole body acceptance piece before surgery was really important to preparing myself mentally and spiritually for my new chest. I even had a ceremony to thank my previous lumps for journeying with me and that I had no ill will towards them, etc. I stopped fighting them and was able to enjoy the whole surgery and healing process. It was a truly profound experience I'll never forget. And I was ready to see and fully incorporate my new chest having gently released what was there before. Super cool!!!

Thank you so much for uploading this video, it's just what I needed to see. I'm having top surgery via Dr Yelland in about 3 months time. The problem is that I have a mild form of epilepsy and am an anxious person so although I'm really excited I'm also so mind numbingly terrified!

my friend everyone gets nervous!!! it's normal! it's surgery! whilst of course we want the results no sane person actually wants to have surgery! so be reassured. . . nerves are normal!!! you are in the best of hands with yelland and his team. they make you so comfortable and will reassure you too. That's so kind of you to ask! It went great, I am now just over 2 months post op and everything is fantastic. I've recovered even better than I thought I would. Thank you for asking, I really appreciate it.

Hey Finn, you are having your surgery the day after my surgery consult. Cool! Thanks for the prep video; it's great to hear what you are doing beforehand. As usual, you have a great support system behind you...lucky boy! Good prep for your scar healing; it can be a big deal for many! Smart to do your Christmas shopping already! Okay to fear surgery; risk and the unknown is always scary. Is Nat doing some prep for herself too? Yes, asking for help is key; it can make or break your recovery. This new venture is your next glorious step to feeling right with yourself; take it all in, my boy!

Woot! Super excited for you! Good you're getting all prep'd. You are staying overnight, eh? Interesting the differences between procedures between countries. In the US, they kick you out right after surgery ;). Glad to hear you have tonnes of support. That's key. My sis was amazing with post-surgerical care and we had a lovely time catching up on the beach in Florida. Something about being vulnerable makes for honest and meaningful conversations with others.

So much problem with hospital infections in the US. Very happy not to have been there. One night's not a bad compromise. Silicone lube MUCH cheaper. (BTW, It's pronounced ah gav' ae. It's from a cactus US southwest--where I am. Great stuff. )

astrog8tr We have infections to...mostly MRSA but the nuffield hospital has a great record for being MRSA free.....and I get swapped for it beforehand at my pre op, which is good!! Cheers for the pronounciation tip!!

Not sure what vitamins you're taking leading up to surgery, but my surgeon suggested high does Vitamin C both before and after surgery.

hey, since it's been a few years and I'm sure you're done treating your scars at this point, how well did the lube work as a replacer for the expensive silicone star stuff? did it make a big difference in your opinion

Great list, I agree on the lot of it. If anybody's prepared it's you for sure. My wife have are constantly jesting each other on the "asking for help" issues. "Oh yes, I'd certainly like some help (never please) !" And "I'll do it myself" fake tantrum, complete with a foot stomp - she's good for that protest. Neither of us even want help as we are entirely independent, or so we like to believe. It is also true that we each like to be helpful. Ah but then someone has to let you be helpful. So she says "Thanks for letting me be helpful" and I say right, or certainly or such, because I'd like her to "be welcome" but honesty at least lets us laugh about it.
