Hey Lacey, don't worry about the Mealy bugs, from my own experience I haven't had any Mealy bugs on my Hoyas yet. Only Spidermites 😂😂😂

I would definitely love to see a video of how you pot your mathilde up! They're super quick growers in my experience, just like the linearis! As far as the obovata, they do root up super fast! Mine is about 6 months older than yours and was about the same size and right now the main vine has two more leaves than yours and I've already taken two cuttings, rooted them, put them back in the pot, and both new cuttings already have a new leaf!👍 it's a super rewarding hoya!💚
@LeafyLuster2 жыл бұрын
Noted, i will definetly film the process of potting it up. Thank you so much for the information Lauren 🙏, now i want to go and propagate my obovata immediately 😅😅😅 I would love to have her a little bit more full.

After watching your video, I realized why all of my hoyas are dying. I underwater, and then ignore my hoyas, then decide to water... Then root rot. Thanks for the insight!
@LeafyLuster2 жыл бұрын
I had to learn the hard way too. As soon as i potted them up in terracotta pots this issue got even worse 😂 . I guess the issue is, that they are portrayed as succulent like plants that don't need a lot of water which just isn't the case. So a wrong idea just got stuck in my head, which just led to me not caring properly for them.
@MichelleMonstera2 жыл бұрын
@@LeafyLuster I hadn't them in terra cotta right now. 😂 I should put them in plastic! You're so right though, they do get classified as a succulent... Ugh, man. I'm learning, I'm learning!

I love hoyas and would like to start growing them. I find that they can be quite pricey. Given that, can you recommend a type of hoya that is an easy keeper & i would be successful with? thank you
@LeafyLuster2 жыл бұрын
I think my most forgiving Hoya is the Hoya Pubicalyx. Hoya Obovata is a little more special, but so far an easy keeper as well. In my experience rootrot (cause of UNDER & OVER watering) is the only real danger for hoyas. If you can manage that well you'll be fine with whatever hoya you can find. Definetly start with a garden center hoya & then move on to more rare cuttings/ freshly established plants.

Lovely collection 😊☺️☺️ But..oh gosh! This Serpens… I love it so much and I still kick myself for losing mine. It took a pretty bad hit in the summer while I was away and from that point on I couldn’t do much to bring it back 😞 I think this one likes it more on the colder side, compared to the others..? Now I’m just terrified I’m gonna kill it again so I haven’t got a new plant yet 😖
@LeafyLuster2 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) So sad to hear about your serpens, but don't beat yourself up over it. Losing a plant here and there unfoortunately is part of plantparenting , right ?! But listen I am slightly terrified of my Serpens too. I am constantly afraid she will just die out of nowhere. I moved her under a growlight now ( growlights seem to re-nergize my plants so well) & I think I will propagate soon to have a little backup too🙈

I love this video. SUBSCRIBED 🌱❤🌱❤ My favorite hoya is my obovata. I can't believe yours has grown so quickly. Good for you. Btw the pubicalyx is the Royal Hawaiian. I've purchased two pubicalyx expectations of the Hawaiian purple. Not yet. Lolz. Thank you.
@LeafyLuster2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for subbing Avi! Ever since spring arrived in Germany, my obovata is going even more crazy, new offshoots and leaves everywhere. She really is trying to become my favourite hoya 😅. About the Pubicalyx I was never really sure if it is a Hawaiian purple. How can you tell without seeing the blooms? Is there any other characteristics to tell them appart?
@aviabad2 жыл бұрын
The Hawaiian will start w leaves that are purple then fade to green. I'm going to keep trying until I get one that does that. ❤🌱❤🌱
@aviabad2 жыл бұрын
@@LeafyLuster the Hawaiian will have leaves that begun purple and fade to green. I'll keep trying until I find one. I love the foliage much more then I do the blooms. That is until I get one, I think. Lolz 14 different ones in short time. Fingers crossed. Lolz

Sehr seltsam 😁
@LeafyLuster2 жыл бұрын

I have been told that touching the tips of the growth will cause them to turn yellow and drop off because of the oils on our fingertips.
@anniesaddictions2 жыл бұрын
@@chomama1628 true. And why? Because if the hands are not clean, they would transfer the oils on to dainty sensitive new tendril which would harm and dry it. I have covered all that in my channel because I learnt that in the hard way too 🫶🏼
