In Germany we don‘t discriminate between bedroom or working room or other types of rooms beside kitchen, bathroom, bath, Abstellkammer, basement,.. Apartments are usually advertised by the number of rooms, because with a closet, every room can become a bedroom and every room can become an office or a library or a music room,… 😉
@nejdro1

An American bedroom must have a built-in wall closet and a window large enough to exit through in emergencies. Many years ago, American bedrooms also often didn't have built in wall closets because it added to the property taxes charge against the house. Back then, large wardrobes were used, as is done now in Germany.

Hello Nick! The sink is a BLANCO sink model METRA 6S, and the material SILGRANIT is a mix of sand, plastic material, colour powder (+some other ingredients) and it is available in many colours from white to black (if you want to replace it). We offer some cleaning helpers to get your sink "white" again. Also a good practice is filling the sink up with as hot water as you get and and normal amount of washing powder, mix it a bit and let it stay for 30min+ ;) Have a nice day! Michael (SILGRANIT sinks product developer at BLANCO)

Sink cleaning hack!!! That is Blanco Silgranit sink, probably a Metra Modell, it's made out of artificial stone and, if cleaned properly, doesn't get this bad. In the evening pour hot water (in your case to the brim) put a dishwasher tablet in (in your case 2-3) and let it soak overnight (in your case repeat 2-3 times). The active oxigen released from the tabs will lift most of the staining. Hopefully the surface is not scratched, but just covered in hard water residue (Kalkablagerungen). The staining is hopefully just in that residue. Once you get the stains out clean it regulary with Essig Säure (Surig) to prevent hard water staining. You can allso replace it with a new modell in black. It should fit snuggly into the premade hole in the Worktop. Edit: what is up? Well not the curtains in any of the rooms 🤣 Joking aside, you can get some really nice, cheap, light blocking curtains in Ikea or Dänische Bettenlager or even Kik. Hope it helps 😉

That adapter at 13:50 looks like a death trap. Apple power supplies can change the plug to something more appropriate like the europlug which even works in Switzerland.
@BrokenCurtain
@BrokenCurtain Жыл бұрын
US power plugs really are quite bad. For starters, they can be "live" even when there's still metal exposed. And if that's not enough, they fall out of their sockets when you look at them the wrong way. The plugs are also so cheaply made that Uri Geller could bend the pins with his mind (still couldn't do spoons, tho).

Some years ago I also had that white sink in my kitchen. I used to make it a lttle bit wet, took a dishwashing brush and put washing powder for white laundry onto the surface, then let it absorbe over night. It will all be whiter each time you do it. I did that once a week or so. Nearly no effort.

You'd have the same issue with the electrical sockets in The UK, as we use a completely different type from those in The USA or on Continental Europe. In fact people from The UK, when travelling abroad, will expect to have to use adaptors to get their UK appliances to work, the only exceptions in Europe being Malta, Cyprus and Ireland where they do use the same plugs and wall sockets.

You can use household bleach on your sink. That should help with the stains. You put paper towels on the area you want to bleach, pour a 50-50 mix of bleach and water on the towels, and wait for about 30-45 minutes. Then you throw the towels away and rinse the surfaces. Good luck and I hope your sink looks less disgusting the next time you show us around your place.

A possible explanation for the different floor counting stiles: The correct name for the upper floors are "Stockwerk" or "Obergeschoss" often abbreviated to "Stock" or "Geschoss" (which could be falsely translated into 'stick' and 'projectile') "Stockwerk" and "Obergeschoss" are the name for the rooms you have put atop of the ground floor rooms. So if you want to prevent confusion, you could just translate "Stock" or "Geschoss" into 'upper floor'. So the "zweiter Stock" would become the second upper floor. Maybe that would alleviate confusion.

Doing your van up with IKEA stuff is not a bad idea as it is usually lightweight and there are plenty of hacks around helping you to adapt it to your needs. I came to Israel from California in 1982. I learn from your entertaining video that the homes here and the instant coffee and half bathrooms and windows and closetless bedrooms and ALL the rest are clearly German or European standards. Never paid attention to the difference in counting apartment floors in America as compared to Israel. Like Germany, here you're on the first floor when you're actually on the second. I guess that is bound to occur when you in America behave as if your 13th floor is the 14th.

Glad Mike didn't go into specifics on what else can be done on that bed ... 🙂 and if he doesn't know yet, he'll figure it out, eventually ;-)

No elevators is probably a good thing! Tough game for Andy and the Cal Bears against Wazzu yesterday but they are 3 - 2 on the season! 🤔

Well, it's not a good thing for elderly and disabled people who are looking for a flat.

@@leDespicable I don’t know what their laws are regarding such issues! In the US there is a law called the Americans with Disability Act which requires that those people with disabilities must be accommodated! Again, I don’t know what the law is in Germany!!!

I will also add that the AWDA applies to Public, Taxpayer supported facilities and buildings such as a City Hall! You don’t see an elevator required in a privately owned home that has two or three stories!!! 🤔

They're so lucky to have that balcony with that view! The whole appartment is such a gift. Well... except the noisy street right next to the bedrooms.

@@user-bj2lu9qt3o In SHA, the streets are rolled up every evening by the employees of the public utility company and brought to the warehouse, where the dust is then removed before the streets are rolled out again the next morning. Day after day. Thus, the traffic noise at night should not be a problem
