Great to know, Susie (Hello to your mom and dad ü!) We have the SRRV (PHL's Special Resident Retiree’s Visa) which I'm sure you all have looked at or studied and would allow them to still continue a business, fly in and out/travel to our Sotheast Asian neighbors and beyond (Japan maybe; Australia, etc.), some incentives. Nueva Ecija would be a nice place, too, with tracts of land (and Jonathan's family nearby making you all really an extended family for once), but too inland for coconuts save for a few areas. Aurora province is develpoing but land may not be that available, not to mention that it's an east-facing location therefore glorious sunrises-lovely dawns from our seashore stay-but not enough of the sunsets). Depending on whether it will be uplandor flatland as well as the expanse, avocados and mangoes can thrive (more flatland) naturally, other endemic fruit trees as well as vegetables (eggplants, tomatoes, amplaya, upo and the like-easier to manage than onions, garlic, let's say; even rice. If spae allows it, have a small pond somewhere for fish (or hydroponics); fowl in some areas, both to harvest organiz fertilizers)… Exciting. The advantage to Europeans and westerners is how naturally you guys plan ahead. If global peace reigns for when the time comes your parents are set to come over, then is good for all of us. Otherwise, the PHL would be a safe haven, if you know what I mean ü

Hungarian here. Married to a Filipina, Ilongga from Bacolod. There are a few Hungarians living in the Philippines already however not that many. One of them is the owner of the Robison Crusoe Resort, Sipalay, Negros Occidental. I accidentally discovered when I visited the resort and found Hungarian food listed on the menu. What’s interesting is that some of the churches have Hungarian patron saints such as the Joro Cathedral in Iloilo, Panay: St Elizabeth of Hungary and also others. Good luck to your parents, wish them well. Hope they handle the culture shock well and will be able to adjust for the long term A legjobbakat !

Hi Susie, it's nice to hear from your parents wanting to retire in the Philippines. So many Foreigners are already settled in the Philippines especially those who have Pilipino Relatives or In-Laws. Because Foreigners are not allowed to own a piece of Land, it's in our Philippine Constitution. Therefore, if ever you want to buy and own Lands, it'll be under the name of Jonathan being a Pilipino Citizen, afterall he's your Husband.

To add the odds. There is no divorce in the Philippines. I meant for a lifetime. Btw, it's kinda hard to understand for the foreigners, but hey! Isn't it what really married is for? True love is a destiny we choose for a lifetime. I won't be easy ( speaking on my behalf as a married person for 31 years). But, when I look back in time? I can always say; that I finally found the one, out of billions.❤😊

Susie, you forgot to tell your Papa that foreigners cannot own land in the Philippines but I think they can lease land either for residential or farming purposes. But if it's under your husband's name it can be done or if you form a corporation where your husband owns 60% of the shares and 40% for them then that would also work. Other than that they can also buy and fully own a condo.

Hi Susie, it's good you're telling your parents about how retiring in the Philippines is. Tell them about their health and the medical system in the Philippines is not the same as in other nations. They have a lot of health privileges there than the Philippines can offer. Better plan deeply I should say.

Unfortunately it's not necessarily true anymore. :( Public healthcare is not the same anymore back at home. When people have serious problems, private healthcare is the better option which can be extremely expensive.

Oh how wonderful it would be if your parents are coming to retire here jn the Philippines. That way, you will not feel homesick for them. I look forward to seeing you together happily. The Philippines is a beautiful country, it is like summer throughout the year. We have lots of sunshine which is good for health. Stay sweet my dear Susie with Jonathan. Love you both.

You are right, this is what I like about my country. Seniors receive VIP treatment everywhere they go, maybe because Filipinos are very close and respect their elderly family members. Plus moving here for good is stress free for future Russia and NATO conflict

I have 50-53 years old Korean friend couples living here in the Philippines. Their daughter was married also to a Filipino, so they also moved and living here now in the Philippines. They bought 1 hectare of farm land for their selves and that farm is really abundant of healthy fruits and vegetables. They have lots of Papaya Tree, Banana Tree etc. They often shared their harvest fruits to my family especially because it's too much for them to consume it all😂. They said, we Filipinos are very lucky to live in a land which is easy to grow plants and raise poultry animals or pond fish (unlike in Korea there is a winter season, kinda hard for farming and not really good for old bodies.)😊

Happy for you and your family. Your parents will surely enjoy the weather here in their retirement years. Hungary can be brutally cold on the seniors.
