Op needs to get some serious counseling though because she holds what her parents did wrong against her sister who she believes is “perfect”. Her older sister is really most likely barely holding it together for her younger sister and op isn’t even realizing that while she thinks nothing affected her sister that her sister is just being extra strong around her to try to help her not that she was not affected by their childhood or isn’t deeply scarred by things. The younger sibling can see the older siblings efforts to try to keep them from further damage as negative when really they need to learn to place blame where it belongs. Op rather than putting the blame for being bad parents on her parents is placing blame and feeling jealousy towards the sister who has and continues to try to hold what’s left of her family together. So sad

@@kirstenornelas881 i don’t think she actually will blame the sister long-term. I think she’s very hurt and working through her emotions and displaying her insecurities to us. I too see she has a lot of misplaced anger and hate, in a way I understand op and I have been in similar situations, but op needs to build her confidence up for herself and her baby. I hope she is able to do so and overcome this with her sister by her side and find someone that truly loves “her” her husband might have been truthful about these being misplaced emotions without a mother but that’s no excuse. He should’ve worked through it alone and never told op like he did. I hope both sisters move forward.

@@robertx8020 no not at all. But she hadn't moved yet and just said she needed time away from the sister. I definitely agree it would be a mistake but I don't think it would be a bad thing for her to maybe take a little bit for herself. Imagine the grief on top of being pregnant. Plus add in the pure embarrassment I know she must be feeling she probably has no clue how to even function. I agree the sister is innocent and I think the OP knows that but again with everything she is going thru with all the emotions and being pregnant I understand her feeling that way. You have to understand that yes the sister did nothing but the OP is asking why I couldn't be more like her and why is she better than me and all these questions and feelings around the sister and not only that but looking at the very reason why your life is crumbling everyday even though she is not at fault but she is the reason her husband is leaving her. Story 1: It's so awful he ruined the relationship between two sisters knowing they had no other family and supported each other through a traumatic childhood. He must have been delusional to want to confess his feelings as if he had any chance with someone who was happily engaged and pregnant with someone else! Not that he apparently takes that kind of commitment seriously! He's really ruined OP's life, I hope she can recover and resolve things with her sister.

Here’s another thing to consider: Once OP told her ex that she told her sister everything before he could go see her, he immediately cuts all ties, even giving up all parental rights to his unborn daughter. That shows that he only intended to raise his daughter because he believed he would still be able to have some connection to the sister as he could use the baby as an excuse to see her under the pretence of ‘seeing her auntie’. And I believe that his ‘goodbye’ was going to be him telling her that he loved her, hoping that she would come running into his arms since OP was out of the way. Once OP told him, he realized that her sister was NEVER going to get together with him, and saw no point in wasting anymore effort.

I want to toss my analysis in on OPs feelings about her sister. So in the past, she used to be a pillar and shield against the hurt and abuse of their parents, leading her to find a husband similar to her. BUT when the husband confessed his love for her, she started becoming (unwillingly) associated with more pain and trauma- the causing end this time. When the husband found out and left/asked for divorce, leaving her pregnant and alone, her sister no longer represented the shield that protected her, but now is the same as her parents, causing the harm to her while (seemingly) having the perfect life with nothing wrong while her world falls apart. She can't turn to her for help, because she can't comfort her while also being a representation of her marriage falling apart and her child now not having a father. [A better thing would be, her sister was a sword protecting her, but her husband turned that sword on her and now she only sees/can see the pain caused from it] Had it been someone else he'd been in love with, she wouldn't have a problem turning to her sister for help. But because they were so similar now that relationship (at least with that interaction) dynamic is tainted- from his feelings about the sister, having someone exactly like her cause such pain, and any underlying resentment for the sister (as someone said, if someone helps too much then they can be resented because it makes the person feel less than/weak/incompetent)

If you are married with kids and think staying together "for the sake of the kids", I can tell you my experience as the child of this dynamic. Don't delude yourself or your kids because it isn't okay to put that stress on a child. That is what you do when you do this. My parents always pulled the "we're only staying together for you kids" crap and as the youngest of 4, I felt like a timer although guess what? Mom and dad are still together, miserable but can no longer justify it by my existence. I can't tell you how many times my self and siblings would tell our parents that we'd rather them be happy separated than miserable together. The one thing I wish I would have said sooner was how unfair it was to us to live in that dynamic and feel responsible for their misery. I mean, if they are miserable together but have to stay together for our sake, are they not implying their misery is our fault? That's what is always felt like.

Story 1: it's unfortunate but OP's ex has poisoned the family well. OP has talked about always being jealous of her sister but that likely isnt the case. she probably just had a desire to do more for her sister than she had ever actually done to give back to her rock and saviour, completely ignoring anything she had already done/ given to the sister. she got with her husband, who was similar to her sister, in order to have someone she well and truly give everything to in the place of her sister and most importantly when her husband betrayed her it was like a mirror image of her sister also betraying her. she cant move past this because it's essentially like her sister saying she doesn't love OP and points out how amazing she herself is which OP has always known and agreed with. honestly, the ex was right, OP was torturing herself. she let the wound fester instead of treating it, she allowed him to stay instead of cutting him off. that hug at dinner should have been the last straw but instead OP wanted to stick it out and uproot their life. it was never going to work out because as later shown, any development in sister's life that reached him would always get a reaction. Inferiority complexes for a sibling you see as your saviour and strictly better than you is also poison in the well, and preceeds whatever the husband felt for the sister. He may also have suffered neglect, it was hinted at in the story. The timing was absolutely dreadful, but he also said it was a different kind of love. Love isn't strictly romantic, but can be just as deep. A close friend, someone you see as your brother/sister, is not romantic, but you'd still jump through hoops for them, right? Familial love. You can only control how you act on them, and as far as I see OP never blamed her sister verbally but wants to avoid seeing her rn because while she knows rationally it's not her fault she feels upset. She needs space and it seems like that's what she will do.

So the older sister sacrificed a lot to protect her younger sister, only to have her younger sister's fiance to be in love with her then the little sister feeling insecure and resented her for being a better person. I know a bunch of people who would kick their partners to the curb if they find out they're lusting over their siblings who took no part in making them lust for them, so chances are OP already held resentment towards her sister even before this all came down.

People need to understand there’s a limit to how much you should be projecting. Imagine your sister basically saying “I know this is all my husbands fault but I can’t help but want to get away from you for a bit.” That would be fine, but Op is basically saying,” I know this is none of you fault but I can’t help but hate you because of the actions my husband committed so I’m gonna cut you off and leave you so I can work through my unreasonable hatred.” And that last paragraph in her final update is terrible.
@jakeking3859
@jakeking3859 2 жыл бұрын
That's not why she hates her, though. I feel like she made it pretty clear that this was the proverbial 'straw that broke the camel's back'. I feel like everyone is misunderstanding her so much. There are times when, after a person has been forced to rely on someone, especially for so long, they start to form a resentment towards that person. It comes from feelings of inadequacy. Like an overprotective mother - eventually that child will wriggle free, wanting to prove that they can do it themselves. It's why we thrive under parents who allow us to do scary and potentially hurtful things. Allowing someone to fall is sometimes the best way to help them, but it seems like her sister is one of those people who can't understand that concept. I can also understand how her sister thinks 'it's not my fault, why is she mad at me, and I've done so much for her, and now that I'm pregnant and dealing with all these things, I need my family, and my family is her'...it doesn't mean she isn't being insensitive when she asks her sister, who is going through such a terrible time, which directly relates to her, to stay near her. It doesn't mean she isn't asking too much of an also pregnant woman who is going through such emotional turmoil.

And honestly I think it has something to do with the fact that the sister is refusing to acknowledge all of the trauma they went through for her own coping mechanism and therefore has not allowed OP to actually process everything they went through with kids, and somehow she’s translated that into the sister being noble and perfect. She’s put her sister on this perfect little pedestal and I guarantee you were sister is not is amazing as OP believes- no one is. Also that’s sister is not nearly as warm and loving and kind as she believes because the only thing the sister cares about right now is the fact that OP is leaving her when “she needs her the most” and has said absolutely *nothing* about how OP is ALSO pregnant but without a good partner or support system besides her sister. She is perfectly willing to guilt OP into staying in a hurtful environment for her own sake instead of letting her go somewhere that could be better. I hope OP turns that anger to the actual perpetrator here, her husband, and ruins him in court, and finds herself without the shadow of her sister looming over her

As long as it seems it makes sense that she still has issues with her sister because of this. Her sister in fact is the catalyst whether she wanted to be or not. Not to mention it sounds like she's had pent up emotions about her sister for a long time now and this just made it all worse. I think there was a name for it but there's the situation where someone could be too helpful to the point where the person they're helping resents them because it makes them feel like they're worthless or less than. I've even seen it in person once even though they know logically they shouldn't be angry they can't help it because of how they feel about themselves. Now add the love of her life basically telling her he was really only in love with her sister and doesn't want anything to do with her or their child. And her sister having everything turned out great for her at the exact same time. Until she can fix how she feels about herself she won't be able to truly get over the hate for her sister.

@@jestersreign7530 I see this as the Isabella/Mirabel complex. Younger sister sees older sister as being "perfect" while the older sister actually has crippling anxiety from expectations of others and a need to protect the family. Meanwhile the younger sister feels resentment towards being outshined and patronized. But in this case it seems as if everything the older sister did to be "better" was just put others before herself. Both of them need to go to therapy together but right now OP is acting like her sister actually cheated with her ex husband.

@@jestersreign7530 I think that it’s actually guilt. Op can’t understand how her soster is so self-less, because she knows if the roles were reversed, she wouldn’t be as helpful. And we see that, when presented with the option to put her sister first for once, she couldn’t do it.

S1: I doubt you can come back from this but marriage counseling would at least help you come to a clear decision. Hope by the end of this, baby and op are for the better. Op should talk to her sister about this too for support and to protect her sister from her husband as well. Op will also need to give her sister a reason to why she needs space for a while.

Op is acting alot like Hera right now. I hope that sheMs eventually able to get her emotions under control and realize she should be resenting her pos husband instead. And I call BS on ex hubby claiming he only wanted to say good bye to the sister. That’s a bigger load of bullcr*p than a ranch’s stockpile of cow manure.

Story 1 - Him: I'll tell my pregnant wife I'm in love with her sister. How can that possibly go wrong on my end?? 🤦 So did he only marry op to get closer to her sister? How would he feel if op made a confession she was in love with his best friend? He'd be devastated. I don't have anything to add that I don't agree with in-between updates. I'm sad op is resentful of her sister 😞 but it's not that hard to understand. I'm not surprised this ended this way. 🙄 He went from willing to do anything to save the marriage right to deadbeat father that wants nothing to do with his daughter when his fantasy relationship with op's sister was over. I could forgive wanting out of the relationship but I can't forgive abandoning his child. I'm sad there was no reconciliation for the sisters. Story 2 - Honestly this sounds hilarious petty revenge. NTA. The aunt played a stupid game and she won a stupid prize.

Op in the first story has done what her ex has done and put her sister on a pedestal. “She’s just so perfect, of course everyone loves her, of course my husband would want her over me.” Sister is seen as perfect and without flaws, which is probably OP’s trauma response to their horrible upbringing. All of OP’s resentment is on the only person who has ever truly been in her corner, and she needs to go to therapy for her own sake so she can see that’s her sister didn’t protect her because “she’s perfect” but because she loved her, and that her shit ex husband “loving” her sister isn’t either of their faults. The guy was just garbage and I feel bad for sister as she lost OP because of some AH. I really do hope OP can reconnect with her sister

Story 1: Since I’ve already experienced this with my sister and husband I feel that the sister is being just as much of an a-hole as her husband. She doesn’t just resent her sister, she’s blaming her sister no matter how much she tries to convince herself she isn’t. My sister was the same way always jealous of my looks because growing up I got all the compliments and she barely got any. It’s not something that I understood was a bad thing until I became an adult but because of that she took the first opportunity to blame me after her husband sent me text messages about how hot and naughty I looked in shorts. This was around the time I was babysitting their kids after my sisters car accident. Now this wasn’t the first time he had hit on me that I usually ignored because having been sexually abused as kid it put me in shock. However, this time around I lost my crap because while my sister laid broken on a hospital bed for an accident he caused he used that as his opportunity to lay it on heavy. When my sister found out she took his side and told me I better learn to respect her perverted husband after I cursed him out. Even with the proof I sent her she didn’t care and blamed me. Now she’s been out of my life for nine years and I’m low contact with the family after they said there was nothing they could do since she wants to stay with him so they continued to invite him for holidays and treat him as before his pervert ass thought he could sleep with me. OP is going to regret staying if she does.

Understandable that op is incredibly bitter towards her sister, but it still feels absolutely displaced, especially that F off part at the end. Like ouch~
