Regardless of gender if you are in a relationship where the partner "doesn't allow" or "controls" key aspects of the relationship, like money you need to get out. Now the Ramsey people are pro marriage and will tell you to get help etc, but work on the marriage. Its rare that someone willing to implement that level of control over someone they "love" can be reformed. Yes it happens but its likely the exception not the rule. This woman should lay it out clearly for this man, assuming everything she is saying is true, of course we only have her perspective. Tell him what you want, what your expectations are and then work on a compromise. If he is unwilling, go see a lawyer. He's living in a fantasy world. Marriage is a legal contract, and in most states it favors the woman tremendously. In this scenario, she needs to use that as leverage. Otherwise its more misery for her.

The comments about how this is all the wife's fault are out of line. We don't know the whole story. I know how hard it is to get a miser husband to spend money. My husband and I are debt-free, are everyday millionaires, and are set for retirement. Our financial planner shows us the numbers and how we will reach 95 yrs of age will millions in the bank and my husband STILL has a hard time spending money and enjoying it. My husband's issues with money are based on an insecure upbringing and deep-seated trauma. Please don't blame the wife. It is difficult to live with this.

This is not old school. Old school, people shared finances. This is odd.

Oh Rheba! I hope you see this. From one Messianic to another.... He is NOT walking in the headship he is supposed to. I lived this for years. There is power in a praying wife. Step into your prayer closet and PRAY for him. Lay hands in his sleep, and pray. Let Abbah YHVH turn him. I know he can! I've lived it. Pray you are having a blessed Sukkot.

What if the lady has been foolish with the way she handles money? Now the husband can't trust her?

I was raised baptist, the man leads the family and the woman is secondary to any decisions. That usually doesn't change until the man gets married the second time to an older woman
@sackettfamily46852 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's pretty common....not all baptists though..... raised Baptist and marriage turned me immediately into a equal-itarian. Or egalitarian. Because the other way doesn't work unless the female is abused and neglected. Because all emphasis is on men.
@agentooe33AD2 жыл бұрын
@@sackettfamily4685 You clearly didn't read the bible. Go back and read Ephesians. The man is not only the leader, but the one God holds responsible for that leadership. The husband's role is a sacrificial one. The woman submits to her husband's leadership, with love and respect. Paul is very clear about this.

@@agentooe33AD and I think it's been mis-interpreted to say that. When deciding what I believe, I looked at every story in the bible and the male/female interactions and concluded that men and women are equal in God's eyes. Also in my personal life, I've witnessed how easily abuse(physical and the others) happens when, man is considered leader. When they're equals, she's treated as such. When he's leader, she is treated badly. I don't yet know anymore, what I believe about leadership in churches and women. Because what about the female missionaries? How does that fit into, men only leadership? My faith is a relationship and I don't have all the answers. But that's ok....I'm still walking with him.

Raised Baptist here too. Married a wonderful man that listens to my opinion but in the worst cases gets to make the hard decisions on his own. I’ve seen abuse but I also know that my generation is going away from that a lot more than past generations.

We don't know enough to make a informed and accurate depiction. But married couples should share finances and work as a team and that's both at fault for failure of that.
