​@@stevesmom9868it actually works BECAUSE it's abrasive. It works like sandpaper and sands off the top layer of oxidation on the headlights. But a very crude way to go about it. It's a temporary fix and a stupid method in my opinion. I take the headlights out, and use ACTUAL sandpaper and start at about 200 grit and move up to about 2k - 5k grit, and then I spray UV resistant clear coat and I've had my headlights clear on my mustang since I did it in 2020. So it has lasted more than 4 1/2 years and still counting. That's the best way I know to do it that actually lasts.

Connecting negative cable to chasis is not as critical today with modern cars/batteries. While there is a theoretical risk of hydrogen gas buildup, moden batteries vent better. I have been connecting negative to negative for years in jumping cars and never had issue. Not to mention with new cars, there is so much less exposed metal you may have hard time finding place to connect and it may not work.

The toothpaste on the headlight works great - but use a clean old sock and rub really good, then rinse off. You don't need a toothbrush. If you want it to last longer, put some car wax on the headlight. Soaking in toothpaste isn't going to do anything - you have to rub well with toothpaste to abrade off the discolored and minutely pitted layer.

11-15 hrs ist. Craning headlamp glass by Colgate etc means lot on unnecessary use of various chemicals, materials and time. Plain water or mild soap water (if more dirty glass) can do equally good.

They make products for cleaning headlights. Also the WD-40 oil is waht helped. Oil milts plastic. So it would buff out cracks and make the head light look clearer. We used to fix vinyl siddind with wd 40 thecsame way if it was scratched

Not true. I was taught to always put the black on metal not near the battery - it's still grounded. Even doing this, my cars have always jumped successfully.

No you don't, the correct procedure & sequence is (1):- Positive on the flat battery, of the receiver Car, (2):- Positive on donor battery, (3):- Negative on donor battery, (4):- Negative on bare metal of the receiver Car,, after starting the Car that has the flat battery You unhook the jumper cables in the reverse order, so hook up order is, 1, 2, 3, 4. unhook order is 4, 3, 2, 1. also if You're jump starting a Motorcycle with a donor Car battery, You don't start the Car & have its engine running, that will put too much of a power surge into the Motorcycle battery & You could easily blow it up. 🇦🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👌👏👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺

We have oldest cars in Finland and -40°C to +45°C climate but no crappy condition cars and no MacGyver's to maintain them. @ yes, I do. We live in New Orleans area. I disabled the unlock when outside handle is pulled & engine is running. Doesn’t mean they won’t find a way in. Giving yourself another layer of protection so you have an extra second to get away might make all the difference you need.

@@punkw7852 I don't know if I'm reading Your reply right or not but what I am reading here is that yes You do drive around with all the doors unlocked, don't get Me wrong, I'm not saying that You can't do that if that's what want to do, afterall there's certainly no law against it, but if that is the case, how does driving with the all doors unlocked give You an extra level of protection? especially if You have to stop, for example, at red traffic lights or at stop or give signs & somebody that You have'nt seen, sneaks up on You & tries to break into Your Car? I would've thought that having the Car locked at all times even when driving would be the thing that would give You that extra level of protection, in Australia it's even an offence to be more than 1 meter from the Car that's 3' 3" & leaving it unlocked, I even lock the Car up before I get fuel & then go & pay for it, it doesn't take a great amount of time to unlock it again so that I can get back in & once I'm back in, I lock My door again even before putting the key back into the ignition or putting My seatbelt back on, the only time I don't have to do that is when I'm riding My Motorcycle, when that's the case, the ignition & the steering is locked first & the key is removed before filling up & going to pay for the fuel but yeah I think that seatbelt through the door.handles is a good idea, I have'nt seen that one before, a bit hard to do it with the drivers door though once You hop out.& lock the Car. 🇦🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👌👏👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺
