Not true at all. The caller said why... The in laws are very clingy. They want to follow the couple across the country and move into the same town. The inlaws have serious boundary issues. I have a friend who's wife's family has boundary issues. Adding to the problem is the wife's mother is a hardcore bible thumper and very very image conscious. She is also a ripping gossip. Anyway, during the construction of their new home, the in laws were there every day. After they moved in, during the decorating phase, mother in law basically decorated or at least tried to decorate the house the way SHE wanted it. My buddy had a heart to heart with his new wife. A decision was made. So the in laws made their daily run to the house and just like always, no knock or ring, just walk in. My buddy and his wife sit them down an tell them , they need their privacy and space. That there would be no more "just walking in"...And, if they wanted to come over, they had to call first. No more of this 'just coming by'....Naturally the in laws got very offended and protested......In laws took a LONG break. In the end it was healthy for the relationship. It all worked out.

She never expected it back (which i didn't know) but she was very appreciative that I did that despite how difficult my year had been. Now compare that to my brother who has had a 3 year debt of 7k and refuses to make monthly payments to my great grandma. Pay off your family guys. I was 20 years old when I got my first car, a 1995 Ford Contour that had a bad tranny (wouldn't let me go over 65 without the entire thing shuddering as I drove it). It was given to me by my aunt who only asked for $250. I only had $20 on hand (I didn't have a job at the time but I was looking for one). She accepted it as a down payment and said, "Oh, you can pay back the rest whenever." Six months later, I got my first job out of highschool that wasn't working for family for basically spare change. My first paycheck, I took the remainder of the balance of the car and drove out to my aunt's place. My uncle was shocked that I had the rest of the money on hand, I don't think that they actually expected to get the rest of the money. Since then, they're one of the few couples I'm related too that actually genuinely like me beyond the "Oh I'm related to this guy."
