Orthodontic treatment is a big step for many people due to the costs involved. Many ppl put the treatments off because they simply cannot afford it, but when they come to a stage in life when they can afford it then it becomes a big deal in a positive way. Your smile can have a significant impact on a person's confidence.

Notes from a longtime Invisalign-er... - Yes, they are sore at first. Even more so if you’ve had new gaps shaved/formed. That will wear off within a few weeks! - Easiest way to remove = Ease the backs on each side with a gentle wiggle!...then unclip the fronts. - Much as it feels like it at first, you will not rip your entire gum line out with the aligner! - No tray will feel any worse than the first shocker! - No nails...use kitchen roll to get a good grip on them! Then use the towel to bite down on...if you have no squishies! - It’ll be worth it in the end! Hope this helps anyone!

The treatment was expensive ($5500) but my insurance covered 2500 and I paid the rest out of pocket but this was the best investment ever. I'll give you some tips. 1- Best relief is keeping ice cold water in your mouth specificaly wherever is most itchy. Huge relief!!! 2- Pick a side and pull them out from the inner-side of your mouth on your wisdom teeth, and it easily peels off of your teeth. 3- Try to keep ur upper and lower jaw seperated, the less ur trays touch each other, the less u feel ur teeth. I know it is kind of tough but by biting ur trays u make ur teeth and gum more alert and sensitive against pain. Not letting ur trays touch each other helps pretending that they r not there. 4- In my case, on the 4th day (after the 3rd day of teeth, jaw and head aches) I realized it started to cause more pain to not to have them on. So try to keep them on as long as u can. 5- Don't try to give your teeth a moment of relief by taking your trays out even for one second because your teeth lean more on going to where they were rather than stay where they r. So you would cause urself longer periods of pain in return of a second of relief. Peace ✌️ I hope ur experience is less painful and annoying than mine.

Couple extra tips from someone 7 months into Invisalign. -Book a 3 monthly hygienist appointment until finished. -Buy Steradent and soak them in the morning whilst you shower. They never stain and require little to no brushing. -keep the previous set of trays when you swap, I lost mine and it took 4+ weeks for the new ones to arrive. -Use regenerate enamel repair toothpaste, expensive but was recommended by the dentist. -After brushing use interdental brushes (get various sizes as gaps will vary throughout treatment) and use a fluoride based mouthwash. -You can leave them out for a whole evening if you go out drinking, don't make this a regular thing as it can lead to do delays. Another thing the dentist said is fine to do. -If you find the trays aren't fitting quite right then spend a few days using the chewie and you should be back on track.

I really wanted to get Invisalign until one orthodontist made my parents not get it, she said people often take it off too much, takes longer than normal braces and u have to brush after every food. I now have normal braces and completely regret not getting Invisalign instead, the discomfort is way worse due to the metals pushing against my cheeks and I’m unable to chew food due to the gap they put between my bottom and top teeth. It’s not the pain that bothers me it’s the fact that I literally can’t chew my food cause my teeth won’t crush anything and it’s the worse feeling ever and it’s way too uncomfortable. I can’t imagine living like this for 2 years so if y’all are trying to pick I’d say go with the Invisalign.

I had the same issue when I got my braces last year, I went to the dentist the next day and told them I can’t chew my food, please fix it. And they took off one of my back brackets and put it back in, in a different spot. Which really helped because otherwise I would have told them to take them off completely lol. The dentist then encouraged me to get Invisalign 7 months into my treatment which I agreed to since it was covered, and I had an engagement party and wanted my brackets off. On tray 3 of 7 and I’m still getting used to my smile. The attachments make my smile look a little weird so I’m hoping to love my smile once I’m completely done with my trays and have them removed. Hopefully you are more used to your braces by now.

@JosieN-ns8rm Жыл бұрын
I have Invisalign and they still cause soreness when chewing food. That does not go away with Invisalign. Your teeth are being moved and that’s why it can be painful to chew even relatively soft food. I’ve worn traditional braces before and prefer them. Invisalign takes a major time commitment every day due to cleaning aligner trays every time you remove them to eat and cleaning the aligners, and then brushing and flossing your teeth (which usually have small chunks of food due to attachments that trap food) each and every time you eat. I’ve eliminated lunch. No more snacks or drinks between meals. Also there is more plaque build up with Invisalign, which can turn into tarter. So avoiding mouthwashes with sodium fluoride is important because that mineral promotes formation of tarter, per my ortho. There are other downsides to Invisalign such as the dark triangles that often form between teeth. And they are not truly invisible if you have attachments in front. Not to mention they cause a lisp when you speak. I regret going the Invisalign route.

Super informal video. I had braces as a teen for 18 months. Didn’t wear my retainers. Now little changes have came about in my smile. I started Invisalign a few weeks back to fix that. My Invisalign plan is 20 weeks. Crossing my fingers for no refinements. I like it so far. Very minimal pain in comparison to braces. Attachments feel odd, but I’m sure I will get used to it. I don’t recommend Invisalign for folks who need it longer than 6 months. 1. It really disrupts normal eating and drinking patterns. I hate having to brush my teeth so much! 2. I could see it becoming a nuisance after a long while. I have my mind set to complete this journey. If I had a year or more, I think my motivation to be compliant with aligners would go down. 3. Both my dentist and orthodontist say that Invisalign woks better for small changes. If you have a lot of work to get done, braces are the best way to achieve desired results. I shopped around my city before I decided on one orthodontist. I heard this info from several orthodontists. I hope this helps someone!

I started today. Top row is 13 trays and bottom is 20 and my dentist warned me that it’s possible that 1 or 2 more are added. I can’t describe the feeling as pain, more like pressure and uncomfortable. The lisp makes me talk as little as possible and taking them in and out to eat is something to get used to.
@ashleighpiccinino18492 жыл бұрын
John: you and I share similarities. I also had braces whenever I was a kid, and I didn’t wear my retainer. At least, I wore it until it broke on the bottom half. Then, I didn’t wear either the bottom or the top. Before I had braces, I was told the roof of my mouth was pointed like as in the V. I had to have my drawer whitened on top and bottom before I could even have braces. No permanent teeth removed, however, and that was good. As per getting my wisdom teeth removed, several years ago now, some of my teeth had started to shift. Now, I’m looking at getting Invisalign, because I really don’t want to have to go back with metal braces. I still have a little bit of an overbite, but that’s OK. I’d like to get it corrected, though. I am a KZbin watcher who is blind, so audio descriptions really help me. I do not see at all, so again, any audio descriptions you have in this video will really help.

Thank you for this video. I have learned a few things from it. A few weeks ago, I went to a consultation, some measurements of my teeth were made also and examination. My teeth were found to have various issues with them. Invisalign was given as an option for me, but my treatment period was already estimated to be 2 years. Braces were also given as a option, but the orthodontist said I would "Be breaking the wiring" every week with the issues I have. I go for my second appointment tomorrow for more measurements and such. P.S. forgot to mention but Jaw Surgery was also mentioned. The orthodontist said that would be the only way for 100% perfection, but I am hoping the Invisalign can get as close to 100% as possible. I can live with my teeth not being 100% "perfect" as long as they are better than currently. If Jaw surgery is necessary though, I would consider it down the road.

@@1996599 I understood her comment. She said that her teeth are naturally so messed up that she has issues beyond superficial ones caused by them. I replied that I understand and I'm sorry, but we all have to pay for the same dental care. I paid $4,000 out of pocket for Invisalign, the same price she would have to pay. They don't make special Invisalign systems for people with especially messed up teeth or oral health issues. Moreover, her basic argument was that for people who have "horrible teeth placement and jaw bone misalignment", corrective procedures are a "basic human necessity". She has a damn snaggle tooth and an underbite, not ALS. Basic human necessities are water, air, shelter, and food, that's about it. I am sorry for her issues, and it does suck to have to use my brain over my heart when using these discussions (I am cognizant that I am doing so), but being guided by one's emotions is never the intelligent thing to do if our end goal is to do the most good for the most people. In no alternate reality is correcting misaligned teeth/jaws more important than providing shelter, food, water, etc. for people who need it. Fix my Acid Reflux for me, would you? My quality of life is shit because of it, thanks.

This was a very helpful and reassuring video!! I just had my 1st tray less than 24 hours ago, I was worried bc of all the invisaligh journey videos I saw saying thats the 1st 3days are super painful and uncomfortable. Actually I'm feeling fine and just getting used to these things in my mouth. My teeth are sensitive upon chewing/eating, its a hassle to remove them before eating and having a whole routine of flossing, brushing and mouthwashing right after each meal/drink. Other than that its not as dramatic as some make it sound like ! (i also had braces as a teenager and i had to undergo multiple orthodontic treatments so it might explain why its not a biggie for me)
@CharisLeeRealEstate3 ай бұрын
Same here, glad i read this comment as i thought i'm not fitting the trays tightly, i'm 24 hours into Invisalign now and i'm so surprised i don't feel the pain as much as most others complained in almost all the youtube videos, except that it does feel a little uncomfortable while removing the trays before eating and putting them back again after eating, and the tightness right before and after but that only lasts for less than 5 minutes. I guess the little hook does help removing the trays a lot easier too. As for brushing it's not an issue to me because i'm so used to brushing my teeth frequently daily to keep them clean and white (the least i could do to compensate for the crooked teeth i've been having since teenage), literally almost after every meal and definitely after black coffee (i'm a heavy coffee drinker). So far it's not as dramatic as many others claim, i hope i'm one of the lucky ones who don't feel that much of pain at the initial stage!
