the reason why GER's reality wrping didn't word is because Almighty attacks care capable of bypassing that and the omnipotent orb can resist reality warping, meanwhile GER isn't as invincible as people think, as anything which can work outside the bounds of reality or fate are unaffected by Return to Zero

the beginning of the fight wasn't Return to Zero lol, it was Life Shot. Gold Experience didn't go Requiem yet and he cannot do it beforehand, the background went blue, and you even see Joker's consciousness return to his own body to take the hit Gold Experience landed on Arséne. It's true that the Social Links proved they could top up Joker's willpower at any time without outside help, but that's just the simplest counter. Joker has multiple abilities that render him entirely immune to getting his willpower nullified in the first place, like Unshaken Will, which is even straight up mentioned in the episode. And as the black boxes state in the episode as well, there's no reason Joker couldn't just escape Requiem's effects by calling for the Velvet Room, which exists outside of any causality Giorno can affect. Hell if you wanna go beyond what is already in the episode, the black boxes also state that simply being touched by Requiem can induce its effects. In that case, any Persona with a Repel Phys attribute would also completely counter Giorno.

You can actually see Giorno try to activate Return to Zero as he's punching the bullet, but because it resists reality warping, it just blasts through them.

so, about the thing you said at 25:02 , heres the thing. the move that joker used to kill giorno? sinful shell? it was an almighty attack, meaning that it was an attack that GER's return to zero cannot affect. like they said, almighty attacks are able to bypass reality warping abilities like the omnipotent orb, and so, since GER's whole schtick is to warp reality to undo an attack, almighty attacks can bypass that entire schtick. i dunno if this explained anything, but i hope this helps

There's actually one other tiny detail that they missed. Having a Persona prevents complete depletion of willpower. We see this in many instances through the Persona 5 games, but it's most explicitly stated in Persona 5 Tactica - Toshiro Kasukabe was able to retain his will even when Salmael reached his cognitive world, and all he had at the time was the mere SPARK of a Persona.

In Shin Megami Tensei 5 (also applies to Vengeance), there is a physical Almighty skill for the Nahobino called Murakumo, which does severe physical almighty damage to a single target, with increased power if the move crits

Almighty Attacks basically have been shown that they can bypass the Omnipotent Orb which literally bends the laws of the universe to protect the user and make themselves immune to damage. But Almighty attacks have also shown that they could bypass beings like the Reason Bearers who could enforce laws on reality to protect themselves. Joker himself has outright nullified Almighty attacks with his insane willpower alone. Combined with the fact that Persona Users are stated to function on an entire different ruleset of casuality with Personas themselves coming from a world free of all casuality. GER was not going to be able to beat Joker.

So, for a quick explanation on that scene at the start--no, that wasn't Requiem. That was just Conciousness Overload, the ability where Giorno overflowz a target's mind with life energy, effectively giving them an unintentionally out of body experience.
