Congratulations on the new mount! Looks and sounds great. 30 years ago I was excited to hear the exhaust tone of my big block Chevelle, now it’s the subtle tone of a well made eq mount 😂

Thanks for this video. This is the mount I’m thinking about too, though I’m not sure I’ll go for the EC option unless your videos prove I need it! New sub, looking forward to what you do with this!

Thanks! I'm hoping to test it more soon. So if you guide I'd say don't bother and get the non EC. But If you're lazy like me 😃 and don't generally guide, the EC will provide much better tracking

Beautiful mount. I wish they would’ve incorporated USB 3. You’re still going to have wires from the camera outside mount to connect directly to your laptop.
@keystothecosmos75273 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I use an ASIair so at least I can use short wires that stay towards the top of the mount 👍
@freeandcriticalthinker4431 Жыл бұрын
Oh forgot to mention, yea I am going to get a ASI Air or simular to try and skip this damn Ipolar. Of course gambling on the rest of the mount is in working order. Again thanks for reminding me on that one. Sure hope it works:). Cheers
@keystothecosmos7527 Жыл бұрын
It's a much better polar alignment anyway so assuming the mount is working, I think you're better off 👍
@robertwallace6323 жыл бұрын
The Iopton CEM40 is one of my top considerations. I like the lighter weight. I don't like needing a laptop. It would be better if I could use my Android for the polar alignment.
@keystothecosmos75273 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true. What I can tell you is that it polar aligns very quickly using the IPolar. Its very easy to do. I still think I'll use my ASIair however as I've been with my simple set-up

Hey it’s me again! Lol. On your intentions of not guiding, what’s been your experience in using the EC NON guided? I was planning on doing the same…. BUT……. the criminal cutthroats from the company , typical from that slice of the planet…:(. Yea they put a cold stop to that plan despite the 3k I gave them for a mount that never once…ever…. Operated due to not connecting to all elements of the mount…. Anyway curious on how your non guiding photo IQ is coming out for you. Cheers Brother, keep yup your channel.

Hi! I just found your video as I am looking to buy maybe a CEM40 mount. I do use the ASIair pro and I think you mentioned that the usb port (2.0) was for the asiair but those are wireless. not sure why you would use that usb port? Anyway I am not looking to use the hand controller as you know ASIair does it all. My question is, I think you mentioned you use the ASIair? if you do, can you plug the mount to one of the usb port on the air? Thank You! clear skies!
@keystothecosmos75273 жыл бұрын
Hi Edwin, so the ASIair needs to be physically connected to the mount for it to work and control it. It's only wireless in how it connects to your tablet or phone. I have a video coming up explaining how to do this as there is a well known issue people are having trying to connect this particular mount to the ASIair. And yes, you can connect directly to the ASIair and forego the hand controller.

Can you do one on how accurate the guiding is?
@keystothecosmos75273 жыл бұрын
Yes I definitely plan to! Unfortunately I need another counterweight to properly test it with my heavier scopes and that's also on back order. Hopefully soon!
@Danieltredway14313 жыл бұрын
@@keystothecosmos7527 yeah I had same problem. Where are you at? I am in Maryland. I have a CEM70.
@keystothecosmos75273 жыл бұрын
@@Danieltredway1431 Oh nice. I'm in Toronto, Canada. Yeah these backorders have been incredibly frustrating. One thing I will be mentioning in my review video is the fact that they don't provide heavy enough counterweights. You are basically forced to buy additional ones, even for mid level telescopes as far as weight is concerned.
@Danieltredway14313 жыл бұрын
@@keystothecosmos7527 yeah it's crazy. I just noticed they also increased the price on my mount by $300. I am a bit disappointed. I did a video too, not as good as yours. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5CXmqSMqs1oftE

Congratulations! Why did you choose a CEM vs. GEM?
@keystothecosmos75273 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Good question... They are both very similar mounts. It was just the model that was recommended most to me I guess so I kinda always had it in my mind. The GEM is great too!

If you want to take 4 or 5 minute exposures than you will certainly need to guide. Anything ove 1 minute or sos (depending on a few things) you will need to guide. Let us know how unguiding imaging goes.
@keystothecosmos75272 жыл бұрын
Thanks. So with smaller, widefield telescopes I'm able to do 4 to 5 minute unguided exposures no problem. It's a great mount!
