The whole Kane Carter situation sent me over the edge, and this video aged oh so perfectly. His recent livestream was embarrassing. I never personally liked how negative he was a lot of the time. There’s nothing wrong with expressing your distaste, but his tone and style just seemed so…degrading. I want to like what I want to like, and watching those videos always made me feel like my own opinion was invalid. I give no hate to theft king I think he’s a pretty cool guy but I unsubscribed after his overreaction to the Kane Carter thing. What a mess. No wonder people hate drama channels. NGL he lost me during the Poppy Playtime situation and how he handled it. The portion where you talk about how he took Liam at face value reminded me of how he handled the situation involving Zach. Where he completely ignores the fact that in the last video he made of Zach he lambasted him for basically harassing a minor. Suddenly Zach went from "Terrible content creator" to "uwu actually he's sorry so let's just forget all about that!" There are multiple other things he's done regarding that situation that made me uneasy but that was my primary problem.

He is new to fame and presumably was stressed over hate, but that doesn't justify yelling at people. He and Kane handled it poorly (Though Theft handled it worse) and neither are really in the just. Though King is apparently very rude in private so that may topple the scales.

I first "knew" Theft King back during the early days of the Poppy Playtime controversies and his video on "The Problem with Horror Games with Kid-Friendly themes" and enjoyed it relatively well. But something about his "presentation" always felt off to me, so I refrained from subscribing and kept a watchful eye on him, every so often checking in on his latest videos when they appeared in my recommendations. Eventually, when he leaned into FNAF controversies I became a little suspicious of the way he made it seem. The way he talked about this stuff was like he secretly didn't care and was just...doing it because he wanted to, or he needed to. And now we're here. Hopefully he can get his act together and not become (as one commenter put it) "The Keemstar of FNAF". (P.S. I like your style and how funny and "bouncy" you are, while still keeping it real, calm, and serious when necessary. Keep on going! You'll grow pretty quickly!)

I personally never watch any of theft king's videos just due to the fact that I don't like those types of videos just due to how misleading some can be. This aged in a rather funny way though considering he's now the laughingstock just due to how much he despises Kane Carter for seemingly no real reason (Note I didn't look too far into it just due to me not liking drama). As a good friend of theft, I'll digest all your points claim by claim and give my personal accounts with the guy as well as why I agree/disagree with your points. At the end of the day, everyone on this website wants to profit off the videos they make. Whether for money, or for virtue. If you didn't, you would just keep them on your hard drive. Theft King is definitely a drama channel, and I, someone who grew up alongside (and is still active) in the commentary community, never really saw this as a problem. I see a lot of people try to compare theft as "the fnaf community's keemstar" when in reality he's more the fnaf community's scarce. People should be allowed to cover drama, and I think to an extent you agree with that. What you seem to have a problem with are the titles, outside of the videos themselves. Honestly, eye catching titles like that I've always seen as a positive, even if a little misleading or hyperbolic. Getting more people aware of the situation is at the end of the day what is going to happen, and there is a huge market for this stuff in this community. Theft puts a ton of work into research, getting contacts, and other things like that. And although yeah, he kinda messed up with the aftonbuilt thing particularly, I think after putting as much time as you do into research for stuff like this, you should deserve to have a hyperbolic title to get the attention of viewers. As for the battington claim, that just comes from personal opinion. I personally think Battington's joke, although executed horribly, wasn't something he deserved to be ostracized from the community for. FNaF fans tend to overreact a ton with stuff like that and it's personally super annoying to me because I come from a community where this would have been an issue for 15 minutes then everyone would go back to not caring. Does that mean he's immune to criticism? hell nah. I particularly think he could approach his critics better when they have a discussion with him, and I've called him out for this. He recently started doing this as a full time thing and I personally think he, as well as everyone else in my sphere, will grow more as content creators going forward.

I agree with a lot of what you said, and I was iffy on including the Battington segment because of those reasons. But for the whole thing of "eye-catching titles". The titles are definitely eye catching, and I think he has a genuine talent for titles and thumbnails. But my issue is that they're deliberately misleading. I think Mr Beast is a good standard for this type of stuff. The titles will get your attention, but it's never misleading. The title is accurate to what is in the video. Something like "The END of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative?" should be the title of a video that actually covers the end of the Fanverse initiative. That's not hyperbole, that's deceit. I'm fine with hyperbole, but it shouldn't mislead the viewer. Like sure it got them to watch the video, but they're not watching it for the right reasons. If someone just saw the video and didn't watch it, they'd think that all those games are cancelled. Which would be really bad for the people working on those games. The Fanverse is already filled with confusion and misinformation and that just adds onto that. Just because you have to make money doesn't mean you have to be gross about it. Also ye people should be allowed to cover drama. But when people are affected you have to use some tact and be respectful, if you put work into something you should be able to market it and profit off of it, but don't be gross about it. You have a platform, be considerate of that y'know?

After getting twelve billion "eXpOsIng sUch n sUcH!" recommendations from Theft King's channel, getting a "The Issue with Theft King" recommendation was kinda trippy. Honestly, the reason _I_ can't stand Theft King personally is because of the Poppy Playtime situation specifically. Let me explain: Literally nobody cared about PoPpY pLayTiMes EEEEEeVil HiStORy! Until Theft King. First chapter came out, cool, letsplayers were just vibing. Second chapter comes out and SUDDENLY Mob Games is the most sinister and evil corporation on the face of the earth. Comment sections on letsplays just bombarded with "don't play this game! The devs are bad people!" "Grow some standards and don't play this game!" "Download this illegally so you don't pay the devs anything because they're evil!" And what was the response EVERY SINGLE TIME if you asked them what Mob Games actually did? "Go watch Theft King's video." Every. Single. Time. These morons couldn't even articulate the most BASIC of reasons for their extremely opinionated vitriol. So what did I do? I watched Theft King's legendary and enlightening video - all three in the Poppy Playtime "trilogy" were out by that time. And what evidence did this holiest of holy video trilogies provide? Almost nothing. He even basically ends the first video with "So do I believe they actually did the bad stuff? Idk. Not enough evidence. BUT IM NOT SUPPORTING THEM ANYWAY AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU." That's a _terrible_ way to frame such a supposedly "serious" situation. The "screenshots" provided as evidence in his actual video are literally of him and Ekrcoaster texting back and forth like "wow rlly?" "Ye." which is blatantly dishonest if you're framing it as "I have screenshots of the controversy!" But even with this enormous nothing-burger, thousands and thousands of brainless zombies flooded the comment sections of letsplayers who just wanted to chill and play a game, insinuating they were bad people because they aren't kept up in all the DrAmA the internet has to provide and avoided the creation of a _possibly_ bad single creator. Several of the letsplayers put out videos stating they would not be playing the game at all because "muh controversy", all of the creators who DID play the game out a PSA-esque disclaimer at the beginning of their videos amounting to "I do not support the evil vile Enchanted Mob! Don't cancel me!", and at least one creator took down their video outright in response to the backlash they got. It was like the entire website had caught a brain-eating disease and all parroted the exact same "correct" opinion without any of them knowing anything at all about the situation beyond "idk watch Theft King's video." Then, there was the "interview" Theft King did with one of the Enchanted Mob devs (like I mentioned before, this video was already out by the time I finally caved to the flood of wAtCh TeFt kIng BiDeO comments). And he basically _began_ this video under the premise of "why is this big, rich game developer reaching out to wittle old me? 🥺 I'm just a smol youtuber how did I earn this privilege?" as if his video series didn't practically SINGLEHANDEDLY vilify Mob Games across the entire platform. And the "interview" itself? Only a SINGLE QUOTE from the dev himself is used in the video, in the form of Theft King reading it - so the framing of "The Mob Games Intterview" is incredibly misleading. And the video itself is basically just a mundane history lesson about how Enchanted Mob got started as a channel - it has nothing to do with "muh controversy", and explains and clarifies nothing. It's also interesting that Theft King had put out a "Poppy Playtime is not Good" video shortly BEFORE the controversy even began.... almost as if he just had already decided he didn't like the game or its devs and was eager to bite down on any drama regarding it. A major issue he had with the game devs even BEFORE the Ekrcoaster drama was the "corporatism." Like oh gosh, how DARE this indie game have highly marketable characters and try to make a profit! It seems very hypocritical from someone who is using extremely clickbait-y titles and sniffing out even the most minor indie-horror drama to make a profit on KZbin. I don't like being outright lied to, but I don't care if a person's just being flashy and dramatic to make ends meet - but then to point the finger at another group of people trying to make ends meet with plushies and marketable characters as if they're evil greedy corporate hacks is just infuriatingly hypocritical. I haven't seen his video on the Aftonbuilt situation (because I have no interest in his channel) but the dishonest framing of a salty person's hearsay being framed as gospel truth is pretty on-brand for the quality I've seen about the Mob Games stuff. Sorry for the rant, I just feel like I'm always surrounded by people in the indie horror scene kissing Theft King's feet as if he's God's gift to gaming. Bottom line: do your own freaking research if you're going to be so opinionated that you'd even vilify other people - don't blindly parrot en masse a single KZbin commentor and deflect all questioning of your opinion with "go watch TefT kIng bIdeo". KZbin commentary is fine, sometimes it's even great - but they are technically accountable to no one but their audience, so take everything they say with a grain of salt and, if you're going to be passionate about the issue, actually spend some time looking into it yourself.

Y'know, I actually already knew about the situation of ENCHANTED MOB before Poppy playtime even released, years before, from the guy himself, Ekrcoaster, which came upfront about this years before this, so I was kinda skeptical on what it owuld be for Poppy Playtime in he next motnhs after its release, which is why I believe that the Ekrocaster situation is actually true, that this company is a bit money hungry and that kind of stuff, but that's just that. Because the "harassing a minor" situation actually happened when _all parties_ involved were minors - so him "coming forwards" a few years ago seems like it would be less credible, since we rarely call scandal when kids mess with other kids. The first I ever heard of Ekrcoaster at all, let alone the drama, was the Twitter post Ekrcoaster made the _week of_ chapter 2's release. And basically all searches turn up null - there are no screenshots, nothing. It's he-said-she-said on both sides. There's basically just "They did thing" and "no we didn't do thing." Neither of them have anything to back them up (though I understand it's difficult to prove a negative, in MobGame's case.) So until I have something substantive (like a five hour long rant livestream archived and several, several screenshots of DMs amounting to "apology video or I get ugly" like _this_ situation lol) I don't care enough to randomly choose a side. And even then, like you said, that has basically nothing to do with the game itself. The "controversy" took place back when Enchanted Mob was just taking off - wayyy before Poppy was a hit. And only one of the founders of Mob Games (not a programmer, or an animator, or a VA, barely involved with the game itself at all besides funding it) was even involved in the Ekrcoatser "controversy", so it seems really weird to attach the vitriol over the situation to a game development company that doesn't even have anything to do with it. That's like going to McDonald's and harassing the customers and staff because, before the founding of McDonald's, one of the financial backers made a lewd joke when he was a kid. It just doesn't add up to "if you like Poppy Playtime you're endorsing harassing children online and plagiarism!!!" by any stretch, but that's what a ton of Theft's audience chalked it up to. I literally found Theft because of that first SB video. And I _hated_ SB so much at the time that I just laughed at the criticism. (For context, I don't really hate the game anymore. I was just _so_ disappointed with the de-escalation from the hype train to a bugged-out mess with barely any plot... and it makes it worse that there were so many things about it I LOVED and I wanted those things to be surrounded by equally nice things, but they weren't. Anyway, rant over.) I never subbed to him, he just kept popping up in recommended. I didn't like his "Poppy Playtime kinda sucks" video, but that was because I personally really enjoyed the game and felt like 99% of his criticisms could be summed up to "sir this is a demo." Then he did _another_ Poppy Playtime sucks video (didn't watch that one, didn't care.) _Then_ the drama started - and that was so suspicious to me, that he had _already_ been ranting about how much this game sucks and then suddenly there's *scandal* involved. Just coincidence, but it looked insincere. And I only watched _that_ set of videos because of the ten billion comments spamming "watch Teft King bideo" in response to "what did Mob Games do?" And as much as people just praise his commentary and conciseness in his videos, even people who are condemning him for this situation.... I don't get it? Like I don't get why he blew up. No shade to small KZbinrs who blow up overnight, but there was... nothing there that really deserved it. Maybe the format itself? Maybe the cute furry animal pfp? Idk. But the Poppy Playtime controversy videos were almost insultingly uninformative. They had the _format_ of a well-researched, educational video, but there was nothing of substance being said. The screenshots provided as "proof" were _Theft's_ DMs with Ekrcoaster and "hate comments" with censored profile names that _supposedly_ appeared in Ekrcoaster's videos as a targeted harassment campaign against him. (Also worth noting, the examples of "hate comments" included quite literally: "get better at animating." But now that I've seen Theft equate a reply joking about "cough Theft King cough", not even on his own tweet, to actual harassment... it makes sense now.) Basically, just bottom rung "journalism" at best. Can you shed light on what you think is a real controversy without knowing everything about it? 100% absolutely, it's your channel. But the framing of hearsay as definitive evidence - enough to encourage your entire fanbase to boycott a company - is very disingenuous. Just like Theft _could_ make a livestream and curse Kane to heck publicly, because it's his channel - but eventually people start to see things for what they are and the backlash will _not_ be easy.

Theft King gave me bad vibes when they released a video about hating BATIM right before Pastra (a person they are frequently in contact with) released an hour long special about how it's their favorite game. Not to mention, this video had been in the works and announced for a while before release, then Theft King had to give their opinion beforehand. I personally do not like videos that are like Theft's "Why I don't support poppy playtime" video are so upsetting to me because the title implies that no one should support the game and while everyone is entitled to their opinion but titles like that are so baiting to get clicks to simply rehash information we already know and I'm not defending MOB but like, we don't need so much negativity on the internet. It's important to hold problematic creators accountable but it's also important not to alienate all the employees that work for MOB who require Poppy Playtime to be successful in order to make money

I just wanna say first of all that this video is amazing like genuinely, passing wise and with how to the point it is, my only gripe is the battington part as there was a decent piece of context missing, like the fact that him "lying about his friend dying on the internet" was supposed to be a gag (a terribly thought out and executed one) but a gag nonetheless, which he did apologize for, i feel like with out that big piece of context that the way you summarized the situation makes battington look waaaaay worse then he should really, i'm all for calling a spade a spade but it feels slightly misleading to leave that out, besides that great vid :D

Honestly even before all this it always rubbed me the wrong way how Huggy Wuggy was on the thumbnail on his video about MatPat and the FNAF ARG situation. He mainly started appearing in my feed after covering MobGames and Poppy Playtime.
