Anyone else here dealing with a JEALOUS cat? My cat Malou has been obsessive and possessive all her life, but when she started spraying urine in the house to show her displeasure, I knew it was time to take control of the situation. Let me know if you have dealt with a jealous cat and what you have done to help keep the peach!

THANK you for making this! Due to her getting older I had to take in my mom's cats. Her home was no longer liveable so this was a new life. But Maelstrom is my cats that is pretty chill and confident of himself, really. We are working through a peaceable household though. Ive been telling husband this is what we need to do so I feel like your supporting out trek!

I feel so sad. I went to adopt another kitty to be a friend for my current kitty by I didn’t take her home because she was doing this same behavior at the shelter 😢I’m going to keep learning about ways to remedy jealousy so I can go back and get her.

Very helpful! I don’t have a jealous cat exactly, but one of my kitties demands more attention than the other. Sometimes I see my other cat watching me pet his friend, and I wonder if he’s jealous. I’ll try to give him more one on one time so he knows he’s loved.

Hi Sarah! Thanks for the comment. I do think cats are aware of how much attention they get compared to other cats. It's hard to spread the love around evenly sometimes, but it's been a lifesaver in our case!

This is so helpful. I just made friends with this new neighborhood kitty. He's not neutered and at first he was very shy, but from the first moment he let me pet him I thought he must've been someone's pet and I'm not sure where he came from, but my neighbors do feed all the feral cats in our neighborhood. I want to get him fixed so badly and there's a tnr program I'm going to call about and see if they'll take him because I am completly and utterly broke right now. No, wait, I have 50 cents I just found. 😂 He's such a sweet cat and my neutered boy made fast friends with him, but they keep fighting and biting each other on the neck, especially if I'm trying to pet them. I just came in and they were so cute lying all cuddled up, until I sat down with them and then he started attacking my boy. I've been seperating them into different rooms, but i was tired so I finally just stuffed him back kind of against the recliner and held him in place with my arm and he's settled down and gone back to sleep. 😂 I'm definitely going to try making him feel more secure and loved and rewarding the good behavior. I hope getting him neutered will help.

My boy cat gets jealous over me giving Lily attention at times. He was here first. I have alone time with him too so his jealousy isn't as much as it was at first. He doesn't hiss as much as he did which was everytime he saw her. When I tell him no and be nice he walks away mumbling lol.

I have jealous cat and today he reached his limits. He stopped to eat, he was attacking one of my other cats (I have 3 of them, one is new to the household), he slapped me in my head with much anger. So I took him aside, only me and him. Played relaxing music for cats, pet him, talk to him and... It worked! He is eating again, he is polite, but still beating new cat. 😔 Since 3 years he's been like that.

My cat doesn't spray, but I am very much her person (I'm the only person that can nake her purr), and gets extremely jealous whenever I give our kittens affection (adopted them a month ago). When I woke up this morning, for the 1st time one of the kittens was laying in bed next to me instead of my girl Luna (who ALWAYS sleeps next to me), and all day today Luna was lashing out at the kittens like never before. I really hope she will eventually get used to having them in the house and one day will stop this behavior. I always give her extra amounts of affection whenever the kittens are around and make sure to never yell at her. Also, apparently she never lashes out at the kittens when I'm at work. It's only when I'm around when she does this.

My cat is jealous of the dog. She's a purebred ragdoll, and I thought they were chill cats. She's all over the place. I've never had a cat that acts like this. Since I brought her home in February, I introduced them as instructed. However, whenever I pet my dog or have him in my lap, she tries to bite or slap him. It's to the point that my dog will run into another room if she's out. It's frustrating and I don't know what to do, but I will try this. I don't want to let her go, but she will eventually get bigger than him, and I don't want it to worsen. He's a small dog and is fully grown at 8 years old.

Yes my male kitty. I recently got two kittens a boy and a girl, they sre siblings and the boy cat bonded to me automatically and would lift off the ground on his back paws just so I pet him. But the girl didn’t seem to like pets. She would be the first one to run to me but when I go to pet her she would allow one and decide she didn’t like it and turn around. Whenever I took the two to their vet for injections the gorl would scream and her brother would hug her it was very adorable. But after the spading and desexing the girl got it ired of her brother constantly jumping around her wanting to play, I tried to sperate them so their wounds heal especially hers but she would scream being put away from her brother, but together was hard she just couldn’t get her nough quality sleep around him, so I would take her to my bedroom lie on the bed and have her sleep in my arms. As soon as her brother noticed he would cry and she would want out because she cares about him but when he stops crying so much she was relieved and went back to sleep, he was persistant tho and cheeky he would make noise around the house so to get her attention and she would freak out thinking he got hurt. She is very protective of him and he of her but he only wants me, he geowls at her when they eat meat and when he does that she stops eating and waits politely for him to finish, when he does she begins and he wont let her by constantly slacking her head and she again stops and doesn’t eat anymore 😢 I don’t know maybe I need to be doing like you by cuddling him i did cuddle them both that went well but I worry about scratches I will try this and see how I go. But he doesn’t deserve it he is so viscious even tried biting her neck 😢 I love them both and don’t want them to hate each other or to lose one of them.

I was just talking with my mom about your video, the spraying, how many people think cats cant feel jealousy...lol Have these people ever had a cat? My mom laughed and said "Thats their main emotion!" I agree at least with my 2 cats
@KittenSchool2 жыл бұрын
omg you and your Mom are so right! It's like some cats THRIVE on jealousy. Especially the females, good lord can they every get themselves worked up if one is getting more attention! As I write this, Malou, who stars in this video, is on my desk rubbing my hand and making it hard for me to type. She's jealous of my computer! But I love her so much, she's worth the hassle. Thanks for the comment!

I have a cat that is a male, I think the jealousy is much worst. I got a new cat who is always meowing for my attention, so I like to pet him. But my other cat who is male and possessive gets very jealous and comes to me to get attention too, but then he starts to make the other cat uncomfortable by smelling his but and smelling his neck. After I finish petting both, my jealous cat sometimes goes after the other and attempts to harm him. This is not like your cat using just her paws, he tries to bite him by the neck! I get scared because he tries to start a real dangerous fight. The other cat is smaller and can run faster and hides underneath the furniture. They just had a fight. This is why I searched for this video. Thank you for the suggestion. This is what I have been doing and it works temporarily. I am going to play with him more often and give him more attention. Perhaps this will work. A better thing would be if I can get them to be friends.

You have the right approach!! I cudnt shout at my cats whatever they did.. I have 2 girls who dont get on..the youngest Lillybean looks up to her step sister chumchums an crave her love but chumchums dont like her ..they used to play while kittens but now they are 3 years they dont even like being in the same room as eachother.. I try to show them I love them both equally it's hard... chumchums was the first cat here so "it's her kingdom" an lilly is a guest.. it hard some days I feel sorry for Lillybean she adore her sister so much ...funny thing is Lillybean is much tougher an stands her ground with the other cats around where I live but chumchums just runs away everytime
@KittenSchool3 жыл бұрын
Hey marty mart! Yeah, sometimes no matter what we do cats just won't ever become 'besties'. But I am glad to hear that your girls tolerate each other and can live in the same home without too much drama. We have our little "pissy hissy fits" a few times a week, but the cats know their respective places and get along. Thanks for the comment!

Thankfully we've never had a problem like this. Our little boy Thomas, nicknamed Ta-Ta, butts into every event that involves another cat getting attention, but there's no hostility. He can be anywhere in the house and he'll know if another cat is getting fawned over. He's right there sticking his nose into everything that's going on. It's quite entertaining, actually. I think your cat is probably the kind that should be in a 1-cat-house. Cats are said to be solitary animals and don't need the companionship of other cats. But we've always had multiple cats and they get along just fine, so go figure.
@KittenSchool3 жыл бұрын
You Ta Ta sounds like our Sing Sing! He can be on the other side of the house and if someone else is getting love, he's there in a flash. When Malou and I spend our quality one on one time together, I have to close the door so that Sing Sing won't butt in. I feel lucky our six cats get along as well as they do!
@1940limited3 жыл бұрын
@@KittenSchool Another phenomenon: Our little girl cat Penny loves the bathroom. She can be anywhere in the house, even sound asleep, but if you go in the bathroom she's there with you in no more than a minute. I've never seen a cat that loves the bathroom so much. I was wondering how you handle Sing Sing when you pay the necessary attention to Malou. Every cat has his or her own personality. They're so entertaining, even when asleep. I'm sure Ta-Ta would be scratching at the door if he were shut out of attention time for other cats! :-)

Hi! Question for you. I very recently adopted a 1 year old female and a 12 week old female. They were surrendered and fostered together prior to our home, they are related. They seem to get along great most of the day but I am concerned when the older starts grooming the kitten… it seems to escalate quickly into her biting the kittens neck pretty hard and bunny kicking, I will break them up or distract because it looks terrible. Is this normal or a form of aggression? I never had two cats before so this is new to me. Thank you in advance!
@KittenSchool3 жыл бұрын
Hi JS, thanks for your question! I know exactly the behavior you are speaking of. My Siamese cat Sing Sing is like an "uncle" to my foster kittens and will groom them. Often, he starts biting the backs of their necks and sometimes the kitten will yelp. He never hurts them, but he does occasionally pinch. This is a normal sign of dominance in cats. The older cat is simply letting the 3 month old know that she's the one in charge. Also, the dominant cat is the one who initiates and does the grooming. I would break up anything if the kitten is really struggling, like, "all right, gentle please!", as you might two children who are wrestling on the floor. But I would not worry about the older cat hurting the kitten. If the older cat was truly wanting to be aggressive, it would not manifest as grooming and play, it would be full on attacking. As the younger cat grows, this behavior will lessen but it may continue throughout their lives. All is good, just enjoy your kitties! *Caroline

Can there be any solution to the fact that our kittens are not drinking milk and cat's milk is clotting inside?
@KittenSchool3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I do know sometimes momma cat's milk can go "bad", especially if she has been nursing for a while. If your kittens are old enough to eat mushy canned food get them on that, if not you will need to bottle or syringe feed a milk alternative, like a kitten milk formula or warm goat's milk. Hope this helps!

I saw a reality show, "Psycho Kitty". The expert advised the pet parents to cover their window so the indoor cat could not see the outdoor cat. Try only letting your cat outdoors on a leash so she/he has no interaction with the neighbor's cat.
