So I tried this in the swimming pool and could not get it to work. As long as line was slack no movement of the rod effected the lure only the slack line above water would move not the lure. Only time I could get any effect on the lure was with a tight line. Again not sure what I’m doing wrong if you could show us in a swimming pool exactly how to get it to move on a slack line it would be much appreciated.

Same here. I tried it right after he talked about it around a month back and nothing was moving. Although I came across a WiredToFish video from a few years ago where Randy is actually on a boat demonstrating this. He is slowly reeling as he does it.

Maybe I can help. I grew up in Wa st, salmon and steelhead. We use long rods for distance. Now I'm here in TN, near Douglas lake, and still use 9-6 rod with spinner for distance during thermocline. The fish hold at 24 feet which is a 35 yard cast from shore. I wiggle the rod tip ( like beginners buying 1st rod, probably Zebco combo). Anyway, doing this and reeling up enough slack until you just barely feel the snap connect to the lure. Causes it to move an inch or so. The wiggle is side to side, not up and down. You should feel it just at the end of the wiggle arc.

Yes as I said if I take slack out of line I can connect with the lure but if you have slack only the slack line moves it has zero effect on the lure@@markwarren3535

So I watched that video twice never once seen him leave slack in his line.@@zooter2345

I'm working on perfecting my jerkbait fishing . These tips definitely help a lot. Still not sure on how much slack is to much or to little though.

It works 100% this is first year I’ve actually fished winter water temp was 39-41 degrees other day.. that’s exactly how I have been catching them I just lightly tap it on slack line like u lightly jigging or something just tap…jiggle …tip tap very slightly an they hit it just have sticky hooks that can penetrate easy cuz they nip at it sometimes n u just ease them to boat n then ya got em

always fast forward to the 1:10 -1:15 mark to get past the repetitive never changing "but guys before we get started". too lazy to change things up. Randy what about thanking listeners at the end of they enjoyed the content. just like fishing you need to change things up.

Clearly if u have slack line no movement will be made to the lure unless you are harry potter or the line is tight. It seems this technique is about having just enough slack line so it only twitches the lure at the end of the human input. So line is slack then it gets tight at the very end of the twitch. Seems to me it would work better on super light rod or with super fast action. My normal way of fishing a jerk is similar and I get same results I pop it all the way back in once my depth is achieved

I thought I was one of the few who use this technique. When I've exhausted the most traditional jerkbait cadences, before I put it away to tie on something else, I always try your technique. Sometimes it does nothing and other times I will start pulling decent bass. I also use them on spinning gear. Great video 👍

I catch more fish than ever using a technique similar to that. I slowly short pain stakingly pull mine so it fishes slow like that and gets down like that as well. If we ever happen to run into each other sometime. I love to show you because it's too hard to explain. I've been using the technique for 17 year's ever since the first day I figured it out. This technique so far is still an main stay for me.

Start like that, Just like that, then like that, yes like that, do it like that and aslo like that with a jerk bait like that in January and I promise you’ll catch 30x more big bass like that. Hope this helps like that. Learning something new everyday thanks for sharing. 🤘🏼

You can play jump rope with the slack in your line and the lure doesn’t move
@ChristyAlkenburg
@ChristyAlkenburg 8 ай бұрын
Seems to be no different then the soaking technique. Where you get to depth and let it just soak but keep tight line so you can barely twitch it. And if fish hits you feel it immediately. Leaving slack in line is just fooling yourself and you can miss strikes
