Hey.Could you post me the video you explain about the clicking sound? I am only using Ableton default synth which doesn't have the phase and band nobs.Thank you
@NikitaKalininn5 жыл бұрын
Are you ever worried about the phasing that can be heard once you add a second oscillator? 4:14 is a good example. Keep up the educational videos by the way! Have been following your work for a few years now.
@kn00tcn5 жыл бұрын
phasing makes things sound more alive, especially if it changes over time
@NikitaKalininn5 жыл бұрын
@@kn00tcn I agree but shouldn't bass be as close as possible to solid mono with no phasing? I would have thought that messes with the subs that are attempting to reproduce the low end (in a club environment)
@TheOfficalAndI5 жыл бұрын
@@NikitaKalininn yes lower frequencies should be pretty much mono. Phasing would cause the volume to fluctuate which is pretty audible for low frequ. You can do more phasy stuff in upper registers though
@sircat1233 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial! Learned lots! Wuick question: If you add the 3th (sub) layer to the first layer (also with sub) won’t there be any phasing issues?

Can you use chords for a bassline? Does anyone do this? I've just got Ableton and made some chords, arpeggiated them and side chained it to the kick drum and it sounds lovely but not sure if I will have trouble later on when adding in other stuff. It sounds really nice, it's a driving techno bassline. The type Dave Clarke would play, bassy and quite melodic. Any thoughts?

I recognize that you are teaching the base of producing absolutely stiff, lifeless and therefore boring bass lines. To make a thrilling baseline which isn't worn out after 1 minute of listening you need to study baseline notations first. But more important you need really good playing skills and be able to play in and out the beat and change the timing in slight shifts. You should be able to play groovy as hell and know your funk and swing styles I and out as well as changes and playing in and outside a scale. Nail that down and than record your life playing as midi files and than you can do your fine tuning programming and sound design. There is nothing which will compensate that lack of cool playing skills and knowledge about musical theory. If you are not capable of that your music will always miss that certain something even in electro style genres. The bass is that one force in music which is one of the most important foundations.
@kn00tcn5 жыл бұрын
it was more of a personal story about what he realized years ago, done in a psytrance style for the purposes of the topic while groovyness is a different topic (note how highly specific his videos are in the past couple years, but it also depends on the genre, some are intentionally robotic sounding)
