Thanks for covering DGM. "Endless" is a departure from their signature style. They actually recorded two albums at the same time, the other being "Life" which came out in October the year before and featured the heavier more power/prog version of the band..."Endless" was a surprise announcement. I first found these guys by the song and video "Reason" off the album Momentum (that also features Russell Allan from Symphony X on guest vocal accompaniment) and they quickly became one of my favorite bands because they mixed power metal with progressive metal in very short songs. I soon came to find that the previous album before Momentum (and the first with this current lineup) "Frame" put them on the map for some prog metal fans. They mostly focus on upbeat uptempo music. At this point it's not certain if "Endless" was just an experiment or if they have shifted styles. Only time will tell. The bassist is another band similar to DGM called Noveria, but their music and subject matter is quite a bit darker and the vocal style is different...still clean but just a different vibe. Thanks again JC!

Thank you for introducing me to some interesting bands from my neighboring Italy. As you mentioned in the first Italian video, Italian bands are often connected to opera,,but also with power, and gothic metal. I also find Theatres des Vampires (again gothic) quite interesting Italian bend.

Talking about italian bands, I strongly suggest to listen to Eldritch. They started as a progressive metal band in the nineties with the albums "Seeds of Rage", "Headquake" and "El Nino" then changed their music into a more thrash / groove metal oriented sound with albums "Reverse", "Portrait of the Abyss Within" and "Neighbourhell" and then mixed the two sounds into their own personal style from the album "Blackened day" until now.

in Italy there was a big explosion of the power metal genre during the late 90s/early 2000s (you probably already noticed that) so we have a lot of band that played power metal, in particular following the success of Rhapsody (that you have already covered in the first video). Another bands that really were popular back in the day were Labyrinth and Domine. In a totally different style there were Linea 77 who use to be pretty successful, they were on Earache Racords back in the days.

Hi, great videos! Greetings from Italy! Some italian bands/albums I deem essential: Labyrinth - Return to heaven denied Domine - Emperor of the black runes White Skull - Tales from the north Secret Sphere - A time never come Doomsword - Doomsword Mandragora Scream - A whisper of dew Elvenking - The pagan manifesto Among the newcomers: Alterium - Of war and flames If you also would like to check my own band, 4th Dimension, in 2011 we promoted our debut "The white path to rebirth" as opening act to Sonata Arctica on a European tour. We are currently recording our third album.
