Merry Christmas JC! Nice list man. It would be cool if you would check out DGM. They are a very underrated Progressive power metal band with a fantastic guitarist and vocalist, very solid rhythm section and keyboardist. Almost bluesy vocals at times which is interesting for the genre. They have an interesting history and none of the original band members which the name came from (DGM) are in the band now. I think this latest incarnation though is incredibly good and is the best. That iteration started with the excellent "Frame" album and then followed up with "Momentum". Since then they have released 4 albums, the latest being "Endless" which adopted more prog rock elements, but the guitars are still wailing. They mostly write these really energetic 5 to 6 min long songs. There is an exception to that length being The Secret Part 1 and 2 off the album "The Passage" and they justify the length with interesting variation. Catchy choruses, crazy guitar/keyboard duel solo's. There is so much there to love! Please check them out!

As an Italian who has always listened to metal (and played it...) I confess that it's very nice to see that (at least in other countries) they are interested in Italian metal. Went to my first big venue, in Italy, in 2023. It was the Ghost italian concert for their tour. Lucifer and Death SS opened. Didn't know Death SS much before but they have been great! Their setlist was a mix of their greatest hits, a sort of "the story so far", avoiding the more niche sounds. I think it was the right call to present themselves to a new crowd, everyone had a blast and they were in really good shape. They did not renounce to heavy "shock rock" moments, in particular i can recall a moment, during the song "Vampire", with a naked vampire nun and an inverted cross, if you know what i mean. Even tho Ghost concerts are extremely family friendly, all went ok with that performance too. In an interview for Metal Hammer, Steve Sylvester said that him and Ghost's Tobias Forge kept in touch, hoping for further collaborations. And i damn hope for that. Our Death SS deserve every new big international stage they can get, since in Italy are basicaly ignored outside the more underground scene, and if it means i get to see them together with my favorite band, then it is even better for me!

As many here below (or above… depending on when you read my comment 😂) I’m Italian and a metalhead. I’m glad you mentioned bands like Rhapsody (would have been hard not to, tbh). From that period and from that kind of background I believe you might want to “discover” two more bands that many are not as familiar with: the first one is Domine. They’re a power-metal band from Toscana (Firenze and Siena) who only made 5 records (so, not much “prolific) but their just awesome and totally underrated. They’re second one is Labyrinth. Also not as prolific as you’d wish, but back in the days they were innovative. Also underrated, imho. They’re a prog metal band. Also from Toscana.

Upset Noise, Negazione, Wretched, Indigesti, Cripple Bastards, Raw Power, CCCP, Peggiore Amico, Steel Crown... is just the first random bands coming to my mind. You lost so much, some from my list such as Strana Officina, I deleted cause you put them in the second video.

Bulldozer and Schizo. Although, judging by what you liked here, you would probably enjoy Ancient Bards more

Necrodeath, Electrocution and Schizo are the only ones that are comparable to the American big acts like Sepultura, Obituary, Sarcofago ecc... All the rest is meh at best.
@jcrockandmetalreviews23 күн бұрын
I talk about Schizo in the second video.

Bulldozer too, they are very important for our early extreme Thrash Metal in the ‘80s. Then, Mortuary Drape, Opera IX and for Symphonic Black Metal Art Inferno, Graveworm and Stormlord. For Doom scene: Paul Chain, Tony Tears, Mario di Donato The Black and Abysmal Grief
@vanigliacarogna696222 күн бұрын
With American you mean the geographical continent, not the USA right? Because both Sarcofago and Sepultura are Brazilian

The Italian alternative/rock scene is always been more rich and interesting than the Italian metal scene.
