I absolutely love your videos! It’s awesome to see someone going into this profession making content to help those out wanting to go into the same career. I also am planning to go to school to become a Naturopathic Doctor and was wondering how you got through the worry of reading about this field being quackery? I love the field and it aligns with my beliefs but I still get worried that people may not respect me as an ND.

Hi! Yay I'm so glad you love them! And I love how you have chosen naturopathic medicine as your future profession :) So, when I first discovered naturopathic medicine I remember talking to my dad about the profession, and he said (and continues to say to this day) that naturopathic doctors reminded him of the old family doctors that treated everyone and everything from back in the day. He also told me this story about a family he knew who had a child that was diagnosed with autism by a medical doctor. Long story short they took the child to see a naturopathic doctor and it actually ended up being a misdiagnosis, and the ND was able to heal the child with natural interventions. Those are probably the two biggest reasons why I chose not to worry about the "quackery" claims. Because naturopathic medicine has helped thousands of people when Western medicine couldn't. This is the cheesiest thing to say but honestly follow your heart, listen to your gut, and screw anything that disagrees with them. Also, I plan on posting a few videos about the common myths and thoughts around naturopathic medicine so keep an eye out for those!

Thanks Victoria! The transition wasn't bad. I've been wanting to live in California ever since I can remember so when I finally moved I was very excited/happy. Of course there were moments when I was homesick, especially during times when I needed extra support ie. during midterms or finals, but other than that the adjustment went smoothly. 😊

Just discovered your channel after finding out about NDs! I’m a predmed neuroscience student who feels that traditional medicine is becoming less humanistic and more robotic/capitalistic. Glad to see that I may have another option that fits my passion/values better. Do you happen to know if any naturopathic schools in the US have any international programs that allow you to travel and learn about natural medicine in other countries such as Mexico or other countries with strong holistic medicine culture? Hi Alexandra. Wow, what an amazing undergrad degree you're working towards! I know of a couple NDs who also majored in neuroscience. I know Bastyr for instance has some elective courses where you can travel and study botanical medicine in other countries (when my fiancé was in school he got to visit Nicaragua and said it was amazing). I'm sure other accredited naturopathic medical schools have something similar. And yes my cat (she) is Siamese! 🥰🤍

Hey Allison! Yes I got my bachelor's degree first then went to Bastyr University California. You need at least a 4 year bachelor's degree to apply! And all of the accredited naturopathic medical schools are 4 years (or 5 years if you decide to do that track). You could totally get a bachelor's degree in Dietetics then apply to a naturopathic medical school! :)

If all a person has is a high school diploma with only cashier experience, what should a person prepare for if they want to become an ND? How long will it take to become an N.D? Say no community college yet.

Hi Sandro! It would take at least 4 years to become a naturopathic doctor. So since you only have a high school diploma now the next step would be to apply to a 4 year uni or community college/transfer to 4 year uni if you're interested in pursuing a career in naturopathic medicine. Within that time frame you'll have plenty of time to volunteer at hospitals or shadow a naturopathic doctor etc. and further determine whether it's still a good fit for you or not. Hope this helps!

When you applied, did you apply to both campuses or just the san diego campus? If you apply to just one campus and there are no seats, are you automatically considered for a seat at the other campus?

I just applied to the San Diego campus, but since there wasn't a spot left open in California I was automatically enrolled at the Kenmore campus.

Are there any scholarships available for this type of degree that you know of? And are there any reputable, accredited online programs you could recommend? I'm a single mom with no naturopathic schools near me. Thank you!

Hi! Yes there are many scholarships that people apply for throughout ND school. As for the online programs there are many out there but none are accredited for becoming a naturopathic doctor. With the online programs you could only really practice as a traditional naturopath or wellness/health coach, otherwise it would be like practicing medicine without a license which is illegal. Do you live near any licensed naturopathic doctors at least? Maybe another option for now to consider would be training as a naturopathic medical assistant until your kids are grown (www.naturopathic.ca.gov/licensees/assistants.shtml). Hope this helps!

Haha it was a crazy experience. She was crying the whole time and trying to get out of her carrier. Luckily (and surprisingly) there were many pet-friendly hotels along the way so that was also really helpful.

Hi Sabrina! My GPA was a 3.4. If you still have time before you graduate do your best to get an A in the rest of your classes! And apply to ND school anyways regardless of GPA - you never know what could happen.

It doesn't have any schools like that near me. I was thinking about getting a biological sciences and biomedical science Bachelor's degree. Just to have lab experience. Is that a good start? N I was thinking about going to a home pace institute a certificate in natural health consultant

I think if natural health consulting is what you want to do then it's a good start for you :) Just keep in mind that a natural health consultant is not the same as a naturopathic doctor who attends an accredited 4 year naturopathic medical school (on-campus only).

Hi Dominic! Wow a vegan and someone interested in naturopathic medicine? Love it! When it comes to my studies diet is just one piece of the puzzle and what I eat definitely affects how I study. I definitely feel good when I eat whole foods, but when I eat vegan fast food/junk food (or anything with gluten honestly) that's when it affects my studies in a negative way and I get fatigue/brain fog/can't concentrate. Honestly herbal supplements that support my adrenal glands and mental cognition benefit me the most when it comes to studying!

Hi Rabakah! If dance is your passion and you want to major in that then go for it! As long as you have the pre-reqs done then you will be fine. However having a science background in undergrad will definitely help in medical school. Maybe consider doing a double major? Or minoring in Dance?

Hi first of of I luv your channel and how much detail and effort you've put in btw 😍luv😻ur🐱kitty, nevertheless long story short I'm considering to study medical school mainly to help myself and to help others who has similar medical issues as I'm facing, I have PKU and I've been struggling my life for prevent lots of foods and seizures epilepsy symptoms, and I'm considering going study for neurology ( brain), registered dietitian, or naturopathic (3 out of 1, since I knew they're all important to PKU illness patient, I'm aware this might be out of your territory and you can only speak for what you known and learned but please if you can ask your others professors, doctors, or friends ***note:I was wondering if you can suggest as a friend and someone who has been in medical school please there's no pressure or responsible for this I only ask cause I'm very confused and frustrated, and I need someone to guide me, I'm very lost and I need help, ★★★★★★ If anyone who know which major suit or suggest others idea please feel free to comment and let me know thx 😘

Hi Daniel! You are so sweet thank you! I think it's awesome that you want to pursue medicine and help others with similar issues to yours. If you're interested in dietetics maybe you could check out some undergraduate programs that offer that program, and maybe minor in neuroscience? Or do a major in neuroscience and minor in nutrition? If you want to become a doctor I think naturopathic medical school is a great option, but osteopathic medical school may be something to consider as well especially since you're interested in neurology. Hope this helps!
