I have a chronic illness, and I thank you for sharing openly, being genuine, and for teaching us to enjoy the moment and make the best of our situation as you do. You’ve helped me realize I CAN live life with a chronic illness, and all the extra stuff we have to do to survive is just part of our daily routine, nothing more and nothing less. And I totally recommend (as you mentioned in one of your videos) for people with chronic illnesses to speak to a therapist/psychologist to help maintain mental wellness because chronic illness does affect our mental health. And it’s nothing to be ashamed of!!! God bless you and wishing you the best!

I was born with DDH (hip dysplasia) and luckily went through surgery when I was between 1 and 2 years old. My hip socket hadn't formed properly and luckily I went through most of the struggles when I was younger but I've still been left with a huge surgical scar from 2 surgeries as well as near constant hip aches. I've genuinely never met someone who's had the same condition so it's so interesting to hear about someone else's experience, especially since I barely remember mine.
@emmab.92795 жыл бұрын
I was born with really severe DDH, my hip was entirely out of my socket and they didn't catch it until I was almost three years old. By the time they caught it my hip joint had completely disintegrated. I went through surgery as soon as they caught it, and they had to use the bone from my ilium to rebuild my entire joint (as a result of that I only have a visible hip on one side). I still have a giant scar as well, going from where my hip bone would be to the inside of my leg, and another one where they had to cut my tendon to keep it from yanking my leg back out. I have chronic hip pain, arthritis, and mild osteoporosis, as well as knee and foot problems as a result of them catching it so late :((. But it's so cool to finally see people who went through the same thing!! Everyone always says its a common problem but this is the first time I've ever met people who also had the condition!!

I just found your channel a few years ago and I love your videos. They give a good perspective to those who have the worse side of EDS. I have EDS hypermobility and fibromyalgia, my joints/muscles almost always hurt, or like to pop out alot. I have really bad stomach pains, it started at the beginning of 8th grade. I also threw up alot, still do, even to the point that I start crying because of the pain and constant worry that I'm gonna throw up. I went to multiple doctors and through multiple tests, it took a year and half for my rheumatologist and gastroenterologist to come to the conclusion that I have EDS. Throughout the whole series of testing, I could rarely find things to be happy about, like I was thinking why me, and that's when I found your videos. I would watch them and see the smile on your face, and it always helped me look on the bright side of things, and find the reasons to be happy instead of thinking of why I wasnt. Although mine isnt as severe as yours, I know the battle it is every day. Stay strong, your an incredible human being and you deserve the world.

I recently found out I have a slight case of hip dysplasia on my right hip. I found out on accident when I got a pretty bad pelvic/abdominal surgery at a specialty surgeon. He found it during the MRI/X-rays but since I’m only 13 I have to wait to get my hip fixed because he didn’t want to make the surgery more painful then it was. This video really helps because I’ve started feeling hip pain when I play my sports so I have a feeling it’s getting a tad bit worse. So one day I’ll have to get the surgery. Thank you for your videos and I’m glad you’re feeling better 💕

I as well have hip dysplasia. I had four hip surgeries, where they put pins in my hip like you described. They reconstructed my hip and pinned it together. Well I had an accident while healing on crutches, and I fell down some stairs and broke the pins they placed in my hip. So I had surgery to remove the broken pins and they had complications removing them, they put a few screws in. Then when that didn't work they finally gave me a FULL HIP REPLACEMENT!! I had my first surgery when I was 14 years old. I had my hip replacement when I was 19 years old. I am now 28 years old and am starting to experience issues with my hip on the bad side. It was ALOT of SEVERE PAIN!! I as well had a doctor tell me nothing was wrong then had a second opinion. So we have ALOT in common my dear!! We are tough cookies to go thru what we have!! Much LOVE!! 💕💞💓

I was born with hip dysplasia, and I had 3 surgeries by the time I was 3. It gives me constant dull pains, despite it being 'fixed' through surgery, although it is manageable by know. It's nice to see other people talking about it as a lot of my friends and people on my uni course think I am making up the pain all the time, when it is def real. I am going into teaching and a lot of people don't see why I can't stand up or sit down for too long, due to it cramping and giving me pain. I have found that dancing has helped me a lot, giving me the muscles in my hip chance to strengthen and support my hip (which it wasn't doing). I know my limits and I'm luck that my dance group understand this. Thanks for your amazing videos and I hope you're doing well.

You are so strong and such a fighter. You give me such hope and strength to just keep looking forward with all my medical issues. You are such an inspiration to me. I can't tell you how much your videos get me through each and every step of the doctors finding out more and more about what is going on with me. The 14th i go in for more testing to find out more on my digestive issues. Because of your videos I finally fought to get more testing on that because I noticed that some of the things you were describing in your videos were symptoms I have had for years and have just continued to get worse. Everything I eat makes me sick. I literally do not hold anything down anymore. Since July 4th I have lost nearly 30 pounds. Doctors are finally taking notice and decided it was time to do more testing.

I couldn’t walk and had to have surgery a couple days later. I have screws and a metal rod down my femur because my bone doesn’t have the calcium to make it strong so it’s very weak and thin. I have bilateral hip dysplasia as well. Two PAO surgeries in my 30s but my left failed and ended up getting a hip replacement on left side and now a ton more problems because having my hips at different heights has messed up my back. Yay! Lol. It took me 5 years to be diagnosed. I walked pigeon toed as a toddler but that was late 70s and noone thought anything of it. Mine was really bad. I couldn't go up stairs anymore. Couldn't bend to tie my shoes. Labrum was completely torn and I was at the point of hips slipping. I was also completely under. I kept getting bumped thru surgeons until I ended up with the head of ortho at a huge teaching medical center.

Im so sorry to hear it was that horrible for you! Im 3 weeks post op from this surgery. While everyone's recovery is different, my initial recovery and hospital stay was a walk in the park compared to yours. I had severe left hip dysplasia and had my surgery July 19. Just so people dont get so afraid of the pain, id just like people to know my surgeon does these with NO epidural and ONLY oral pain meds after recovery in the PACU. I did wake up in some pretty bad pain but it was so much less awful than I imagined it would be and the staff quickly took care of it. I needed breakthrough IV meds twice during my 3 day hospital say and I was well enough to FLY HOME on the 3rd day as well. Dont get me wrong, this is pretty painful and miserable for a few weeks but I think it will be totally worth it! I put off having this surgery for about 2 years just because I was so scared! Im still in pain 3 weeks out but only on Tylenol a few times a day. Obviously, you have a much more complicated health history and I am SOOO happy to see you looking and feeing so well! Congrats on making and following through with a big decision for your health and happiness! You are so brave. Wishing you the best in your recovery.

I spent until I was 2 in casts with a huge metal pole in between. (Pavlik harness). Apparently full dislocation of both hips at birth is really rare 1 in 1000 babies are born with the condition. Also the condition is more common in girls than in boys. I know right now you’re still in hospital recovering after your second operation on your other hip. I am praying that your recovery is smooth and you have relief from your painful joints (well your hip ones anyway)! I’m currently awaiting decisions about if whether or not I will have a second knee replacement (my initial lee replacement was April 2011) wear and tear and further dislocations mean it’s not doing much now apart from causing me pain. Most surgeons shy away from any joint replacement or surgery in us EDS patients. I’m very thankful that my orthopaedic doctor is very clued up on EDS which is always a blessing. I’m catheterised 24/7 and I have had times in hospital when I’ve been really poorly & unable to empty my bag myself. However the nurses ‘forgot’ overnight and my bag is a 2 litre bag was full to the brim and eventually burst in between that my bladder was full so it back tracked up to my kidneys as I do have issues with bladder & kidney reflux . It left me with pyelonephritis & Urosepsis and in ITU for almost 16 days. Now as a precaution when I’m in hospital I attach either a leg bag (500mls) to a night bag (2000mls) or 2 x 2000mls bags joined together. I do hope you’re starting to feel a bit better in yourself also I know you said vlogging was really difficult for you when you had your last surgery and you became really anxious coming back as you hadn’t uploaded in a while. I think most of us who follow you would be just as happy with a 5 minute catch up video rather than a 25 minute video that gets you extremely stressed and is hard work to edit. Just know that you are missed, however that is in no way meant to put you under any pressure to upload. You do what’s best for you and I’m sure I can speak for all of us when I say that we will be here for you when you are ready. Keep your chin up lovely 💓 Much love from Scotland xxx

DO NOT SHAVE YOUR LEG WITH A RAZORBLADE THE DAY OF THE SURGERY! The razor can make tiny little wounds that can get infected in the dirty environment of a hospital. You don’t want that anywhere near a surgical wound. Surgeons never shave with a razorblade, they use cream or an electric razor when necessary.

Hey! I had knee surgery 8 weeks ago, and I was told I would need to be awake for the epidural. I was in the room terrified of the epidural and the next thing i knew, I woke up from surgery and they had done the epidural while I was under anesthesia! lol I hope you're recovering well!

Blimey, that's some journey! For others who haven't used crutches before (when you have one good leg) my physio told me, when going up stairs, good leg up to heaven (going up) bad leg first down to hell!! . But Amy I hope you continue to get better and enjoy life just a bit better every day. Your explanation was wonderful, full of description but at the same time easy to understand . Love and hugs xx 🧓🇬🇧😊🦖

My mum's a physio and she taught me that too :) also to get in cars it's usually much easier to sit down first and swivel rather than try and get in the normal way. But that's not got a catchy name so we just yell "bum first" instead lol!

@@sophiehobley828 physio's have a lot of little sayings like " use it or lose it" A side note did you know that every movement a human can make is the result of a muscle contracting ? X

I was given an anesthesia that I was allergic to and stoped breathing. I also ended up in ICU..than I ended up on a regular ward later. I later went to rehab because my BP and heart rate was up & down. My heart meds weren't working correctly.
