I wasn't sure if this was a story that I would post on KZbin, but the truth is, you've been along this journey with me - you've been with me through my miscarriages and my pregnancy - so it just didn't feel right not to share this story with you.
While I didn't have the smoothest, or "slipperiest" experience (as they say), now that baby Madison is here, I wouldn't change my story for the world.
I hope that you enjoy this video and I hope that some of you connect to this video in a way that you perhaps haven't connected to any of my other videos.
I can't wait to read your comments... enjoy this video!

Firstly, congratulations!! I am so moved right now. I have been following you for years and love your ability to tell a story but this has hit so close to home for me. Our daughter was born 15 years ago and our birth stories are so very similar. Listening to you just now, my heart was racing and I was brought back to all of the incredible and difficult moments of her birth. Parenthood with all it’s ups and downs is such a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story and for helping me re-live mine. Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for sharing your birth story. I can totally relate, I've had two C-sections. Unless you've gone through this there is just no way you can get someone to really understand all the flood of emotions you go through all at the same time. Madison is beautiful! And, you look so pretty throughout this whole journey. 💗

Thank you for sharing. My oldest is 35 and this took me right back to those moments of fear and pain and rush while you are prepped for a caesarean. Then the joy of my baby along with all the feelings of being so out of control of your own body. 35 years later, he is still and always will be the joy of my life! Congratulations ❤️

So happy for you Karin but also horrified about your emergency c-section, my labour/delivery was identical to yours up until that point. I thought I was a tough cookie but you’re definitely a warrior. Your daughter has a wonderful role model in you. Blessings to you and your family!

Oh Karin, Madison is so precious. I had a very hard time with my second pregnancy. I don't care that women have babies every day, it's hard. If anyone has it easy in delivery, they are fortunate. You are going to have fun dressing her with your great fashion sense. My daughter is now 48 and we have such fun when we are together. Enjoy every moment with Madison and God bless.

Karin, I too had a really horrible experience. I had to be admitted & hospitalized at 31w6d of premature water rupture…. I delivered my son via C-section at 34 weeks on Christmas Eve. My labor and delivery were scary since I developed an infection. I was also shaking uncontrollably, throwing up, fever…. On top of my son’s heart rate being in the 200s. Within 2 hours of getting induced, the OBGYN did not hesitate and mentioned that a C-section would be done if the interventions that nurses were trying to do to elevate both our levels didn’t work. During surgery I also was throwing up and felt like I was going to die if I closed my eyes since whatever pain medication they gave me during stitching, felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. Because my son was born premature I wasn’t able to hold him as he was admitted into the NICU. Missing out on skin to skin, not having our baby in the room… I was just devastated. I too felt like my body failed me and I had severe PPD & PPA. I love hearing your story and I’m so happy to hear that you and your family are doing well. You made such a beautiful girl and you’re a beautiful mom 🥰 Good luck and much love ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us in such a detailed way. My mum had me with a c-section and it was also very traumatic for her. I had my son in 2019 and we had decided to do a homebirth. Our son was also quite comfortable and my water only broke 2 weeks after the due date. It was a 13 hour labor and a very intense roller coaster of emotions but I was very blessed to have two very experienced midwives who guided me very well during contractions. It took quite a while for my son to sink in as his head was really big. But what I learned is that there is no baby that is too big to be born naturally. I am 5ft 2in and my son was born with 9 pounds and 10 ounces. Our bodies can do much more than conventional obstetricians think. I am sure that if I wouldn't have had the midwives who supported me on having a natural birth at home, my labor story would have also ended in a c-section. There is so much valuable know-how that traditional midwives have but unfortunately we do not get access to it right away when we are pregnant from hospitals. Only if you dig very deep and spend hours researching you might find the right books and maybe the right midwife. One book that I can recommend is Freebirth by Sarah Schmidt. She has her labor videos in her KZbin channel as well. I wish all pregnant women reading this a peaceful pregnancy and an empowering labor ❤️

Congratulations Karin- watching this brought back so many memories. My daughter is 32 now, I went into labour and had to write pos while getting ready to leave and order carpet our first day together! She grew up in my interior design business and now she is all business first in fashion and then transitioned to a CPA. I made alot of sacrifices too many sad ones. And paying the price I think. Design is so hard to do while distracted and it should not be that your child is a distraction- so many hard decisions have to be made I can't tell you till I see how she does raising children and what decisions she makes different from mine - likely she has more opportunities than I did with keeping her career and mom roles working together. My younger son, five years later, I left the industry completely for 5 years. I cried watching this. I feel the joy and that you would do it again. Thank you - sorry for the lengthy comment. I have been watching your journey- you are extraordinary! I just felt so moved to share. BTW You look so lovely here!

Thank you for sharing your story! Madison is beautiful and has such a strong mom to look up to for going through all that. Sorry to hear you had such a negative and traumatic experience. I had a friend induced who had a similar experience, 30+ hr labor, stalled at 8cm and ended in emergency c section. I was trying to avoid induction for this reason but was induced at 41 weeks and like you my cervix was not dilated at all and still closed. Had it put in at 9am, started having contractions by 3:30pm, went to the hospital at 9pm and baby arrived at 5am but luckily was able to have a vaginal delivery. Contractions were very painful since they kept the cervidil in till I was 6cm and I’m hoping next time to go into labor naturally to compare. I totally relate to how intense everything is in those first 48hrs in the hospital and that first week, it’s so much.

Congratulations Karin. I've been watching your channel for awhile now and really enjoy the entrepreneurial/business side. I could totally relate to you experience. My first daughter was an emergency c section and you are totally right when you say it's traumatic. It's so quick. There is no time to really think. The main job is getting the baby out safe. I always wanted a natural birth but after my first experience I realised the real prize is coming out with your baby. My next two pregnancies were both elected c sections and the experience was a lot more controllable and calm. It was so interesting to watch you re-tell your story but also relate to it so closely. Enjoy you joy. X

This is my first time to leave comment in KZbin and I'm a big fan of you and I'm a mother of 6years old daughter. What an amazing journey you went through..I'm sooo glad that you and your baby angel are safe and are healthy now. I can tell that how much you wanted to have a natural birth and all planed out but I thought the same thing I thought I could do.. but it was just out of control. Giving birth was the most painful experience I would never ever had but having a child is the most perfect thing that I've never have in my life. Welcome to motherhood! You are an amazing as you are and this is just the beginning of your new journey as a mum!! Congratulations!

What an incredible birth story Karin, you told it so well. Thank you for sharing it. You are right, no matter how much you try to understand wbat you are about to go through to give birth to your child, you just aren't able to until you have done it. I don't think anyone can imagine how it really feels and what you have to do 'within' to get through it. For those of us that are lucky enough to have the opportunity to bring children into the world, it really is like having a superpower. It's something that I will never take for granted.💕

Hi Karin, the birth of my first son was so similar to yours. I can totally understand and relate to the trauma and overwhelming flood of emotions you describe. That operating table is the last place you imagine yourself being. Take all the time to heal that you need mama, it’s not easy. I truly felt healed from my first birth at the end of my second birth, which was also a C-section from a sunny side up baby that would just not come. This time around, I knew what was going on. The ob suggested a c section after I had been dialated at a 9cm for 10 hours and stuck there. I went into the operating room with a different headspace than the first time. I knew that the trembling and nausea was coming and I embraced it. After it, holding my second baby I felt so much healing, that I cannot describe it to you. I felt empowered and it felt full circle. Whatever had been taken from me the first time I had it back. Anyways, I wish you the best in your recovery and your new journey as a parent to a beautiful baby girl!

LOL Oscars sounds were so funny. Your hair looks incredible! This story just made me cry. I remembered my delivery. I was in labor for 41 hours, 2 epidurals and a torn vagina later was the worst. Wildest part was I was giving birth during the 2001 Subway Series and if you can believe the people in my room were watching the game in between taking care of me. I was like WHAT is going on here? Your story sounded horrific girl but I’m glad you made it thru that. Baby Madison might have a great backstroke with all that flipping. What a story 💝

Thank you for sharing your story! You are strong lion moma ❤️ I was getting induced from Friday morning up til Monday morning with opening only 1 cm when they gave up and took me to C section. Baby had to be monitored every 2 hours, so I got to wake up every two hours for 3 days in a row. I don’t think I would be able to give birth that Monday morning even if I would have cervix open. Baby had umbilical cord around her neck 3 times and green waters. I’m grateful that she was so strong and waited to meet mommy and daddy ❤

Noone can prepare you.... but sharing helps those who have to have a c- section and who think make you think are a lesser person for not having a 'normal' birth. Make sure you look after you, your body healing and that little beauty will be well❤

I feel like the induction might have been a problem there… Medicine doesn’t really care about women, so they do the same shit they did 30 years ago. Just because you’re 40 doesn’t mean you can’t wait until the baby’s ready. It’s a case to case decision in my opinion. It’s so sad that first time mothers put so much trust in doctors and in the end they just work in checklists rather than the individual person I am so glad that you and Maddison are healthy ❤️❤️❤️ Congrats!
