Your bookshelf is so dreamlike to me. So inspirational for a language learner!

The language book to end all language books is CZECH FOR ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENTS. Originally published in the 60s, I think it still get re issued with the same light propaganda & illustrations. For example Jose is from Cuba to study medicine but first he has to learn Czech. It goes on like this for about 400 pages, but it really helped me out. If they ever gave a Nobel Prize in languages, these authors would get it!

David crystal, and why he is the linguistic Father Christmas: •big beard • smiley • gives us books about languages (it’s on your christmas list ALWAYS) • probably enjoys milk and biscuits and enjoys hygge, the word and the concept.

How skookum that "Making WaWa" made it into the video ;) (One of the meanings for skookum is good/great.) I have my dad's old German Phrasebook from when he lived in Munich for six months in 1961/1962. It's full of useful phrases like "How much to send a telegram?" That will always sit on my bookshelf, next to his last Irish passport with his "Landed Immigrant Status" for Canada customs stapled inside!

Haha! I do love a good "cassette/video/fax" making it into my books but a telegram is one I've not seen yet! Love it! :D

I have terrible trouble working out how to arrange my language shelves. Like, if I have the same novel in 3 languages shouldn't they be on the same shelf, or one above the other, and how good does my eg Spanish have to be for a science book in Spanish to go on the science vs the language shelf

I kind of go...books about language/linguistics, multilingual books, dictionaries, then next shelf learning course books etc and bottom shelf big kits and tiny phrasebooks! :)
